He drank again. “How the hell did you find me anyway?”
Ryley
MD“Magic,” she responded, dryly, waiting a few beats before continuing. “You forget that I’m rather highly connected in the intelligence community after my two… field trips… with opposition forces.” Her tone turned slightly harsh as she referred to the two abductions she had suffered as CO of the Olympic and the Atlantis. “So I’ll take that as your agreement, Captain,” she responded, forcing her tone to lighten again and adopt a slight snarkiness as she used his Starfleet rank.

Ryley sipped. “And how are the Romulan these days?” He asked nonchalantly as though he was asking how the weather on Vulcan was. If it stung so be it. If not? Well that would be interesting. “Ryley… Alexx, Doctor or Doc if you must. But don’t call me that again.” He said, his tone gruff as he rolled his eyes and finished his bottle. He considered the dulled pain and came to one simple conclusion, he was drunk.
Behind them the Klingon pair seemed to be getting bored with sitting waiting for Ryley to leave. The bearded , shaggy looking older man gave Jacobs a look. “Time to go I think.” He said casually and grabbing his staff stood, staggered and caught himself.

MDKatelyn’s face had darkened slightly at the mention of the Romulans, but she smiled pleasantly at Ryley as he grumbled about his rank. “It’s just a reminder that I still outrank you, Ryley, even with all of those shiny pips I’ve never seen you wear” she shot back, a grin lighting up her face and dark eyes. As Ryley got to his feet and stumbled, her reflexes took over and she again shot a hand out to steady him, avoiding his injured shoulder this time. “See, aren’t you glad I’m here? It seems like you need a bodyguard. But, that said, we don’t have to walk…” She looked down at the communicator badge peeking out again from behind her jacket and then expectantly at the doctor.

Ryley made a noise in his throat half grummble, half laugh. “Yeah well they took the shiny pips away and then gave them back again so you’ll excuse me if I don’t hold much stock in them. I mean who wants to be known by dots of metal anyway.” He looked at her as she steadied him. “ No. yore here because you want something…something that means I gotta do something which is the opposite of what I want to do, and no again sweetheart what I need is an osteoregenerator and a couple of hypos of Codvin.”
He followed her gaze and pushed himself upright, most of his weight going onto his staff. “You transport in that doorway you’ll have half the illegally cloaked ships firing on you before you know what the hell hit you. Find an abandoned corridor, somewhere off of G deck then go. I’m not that drunk I can walk that far.” He said quietly as to avoid the ear shot of the other patrons.
Turning to his young bartender friend. Rummaging in his pocket Ryley pulled a few strips of latnium out of his winnings and tossed it to him. “ Here kid. This is to a place to start a career. Get the hell out and go do something with your life.”
He wandered away pulling his backpack and duffle onto his uninsured shoulder and not waiting to see if Jacobs followed.
