Relaxation came in that moment…knowing that soon the relaxation he was feeling would be a thought cast into an abyss…each breath a slow deep measure with expectations and perceptions of what would be coming. How many times while enroute to his new station had he gone over the data not only of his transfer orders but the available data of the presentation and operational standards of the USS Chimera. Available technical data as a steady scroll in the resting time to know and better understand what he was soon to be finding himself into - some data unavailable certainly as he was not yet aboard the ship and properly assigned but he wanted to know more on the same way a doctor pours over medical journals to better understand a critical surgery before they are hands deep. A young mind who - for all else - viewed the Chimera as not just a ship but a living breathing measure where the systems were on par with a body and not unlike a doctor he viewed himself as a potential caretaker and by all the stars he wanted to see it thrive. For some study of technical data could be stressful but for Aurelian there was relaxation in information as facts rarely truly shifted and could not as readily deceive - knowing what should be and could be it was that much easier to find even the smallest spikes that would be out of place and those small spikes could be attended.

“I cant wait to be able to be…” the young man had started to think to himself as the shuttle made way through the sea of stars and darkness enroute towards the Chimera - a pause presented.

“Useful…” the symbiont chimed in among their bond - a soft voice compared to the cold edged voice that often came from the third side of the young man who had been through so much and now was finding himself presented to a potential combat oriented station. Eyes opening as the approach towards the Chimera was signaled looking out through the viewport at the ship that would soon be his home as the shuttle positioned to make entry into the shuttle bay for the delivery of a ship that was presently on green alert.

Emerging from the shuttle there was…stability…the boots setting down on the shuttle bay…balancing and finding settlement as his head turned slowly looking around a moment before he would make way forward to check in with security - as he wasn’t fully checked in for what he was for the ship and accesses were not yet in place. A basic access permitted to at least make way to check in with the appropriate departments that he had arrived and attend to the appropriate interviews as needed.

- Command Check In (Deck: 23)
- Medical Check In (Deck: 3)
- Psych Check In (Deck: 33)
- Department Check In (Deck: 18)

”…Getting to know you…getting to know all about you…” the young man lilted more to himself than anything else in a whispered singsong voice as the ocular and auditory attachment went to a more passive wide measure that would be standard while the blue hue remained dim, “…getting to like you, getting to hope you like me…” he continued as he took up his bag with a hand attached to ta sleek metallic arm - and with slow but focused footsteps he started way towards his assigned residency to drop off the bags before making way to the command office - the ready room.

It was as he walked that his auditory augment listened…not as much to the conversations of the crew in passing but the grounding and relaxing sounds of the ship itself. Listening to the steady pulse and flow in the world around himself like a heartbeat of a person while passively taking in the information for out of place tones within a broad scope of hearing from that measure and within the auditory frequencies and broadcast frequencies around himself while his other ear largely picked up the typical sounds that people would expect to hear - the echo of footsteps on the floor, passing conversations that unless they were keying and concerning wouldn’t draw his focus directly. The visual augment a steady passive cycle through scopes including energy and particle emissions, infrared, ultraviolet and surface scans of surroundings without scanning deeper though while his normal eye picked up in a 120 degree range his augment picked up in 200 degrees in front of him.

With steady and ready steps he made way through the passages of the Chimera heading to Deck 23 and to the Command Ready Room - a brief pause beyond the door as upon his approach it would indicate there was someone outside. With approval of his entry and the door sliding open before him he would step forward and in taking to stand crisply at attention patiently waiting so that he didn’t interfere or interrupt any more pressing concerns for command staff - it would never be acceptable without emergency to outright interrupt command staff without good reason and he by all means lacked such a reason.

Lieutenant Commander Finn Grady looked up from what he was doing as the new officer entered the room.

”…Commander,” he had begun, “Ensign Aurelian Vale reporting for duty aboard the USS Chimera post transfer from Starfleet Academy…” he added clearly but with more of a soft edge of one who didn’t make a point of being heard or outright noticed unless there was a problem - his tone readily portraying reservation.

Finn took in the sight of the newest arrival, genuinely curious but making sure to keep his face diplomatic and professional. Every officer that comes on a starship has a history and as big as the galaxy was, it was common to meet all sorts of fellow crew members. He knew that this situation would be no different and he hoped that the rest of the crew would comport themselves accordingly.

“Ensign Vale, welcome aboard! I’m Lieutenant Commander Finn Grady, the XO. Come on in and have a seat,” he gestured to one of the chairs in front of his desk with a smile as he set aside the stack of things he was working on. “Did you get all situated in your quarters?”

Lieutenant Commander Grady - XO

“Thank you Lieutenant Commander…” Aurelian spoke calmly and clearly stepping slowly closer settling himself slowly onto the appropriate seating for briefing interview and checkin with command, “I was in fact able enroute from shuttle bay here able to drop off and secure my bags. I will unpack more readily at a later time as I figured it would be best to attend to all efforts of checkin prior to such instead of putting anything off for any extended period…”

Aurelian paused a moment, “I dont own much outside of what was assigned by starfleet or suggested I acquire in the meantime…” he added honestly as his fingers interlocked together as his amber-gold eye looked towards the XO.

“Well, maybe you’ve got the better idea there in regards to that. Dragging stuff across the galaxy and back just adds unnecessary stress into the mix,” Finn smiled at the ensign and relaxed back into his chair. “I mostly want to make sure that everybody is comfortable on board. Discipline is great and all but this ship is also our collecti…umm… well our joint home. Anyway, I’ve read your file so I know most of the basics of your past, but I’m interested to know about the future. What goals do you have for yourself here on the Chimera?”

Lieutenant Commander Grady - XO

“It is my hope to make the most use of the battles I have already faced in the course of my life…whether that is Starfleet Academy Coursework or a fondness towards the systems of a starship. My goal aboard the Chimera is to make the most measure of usefulness among the endeavors of the life I would lead. Like how a doctor keeps the crew alive and thriving only that the Chimera is a much bigger patient especially from the inside - it is my hope to keep the Chimera going.” Aurelian answers calmly, “I thrive in the systems…in the studies…in trying to catch concerns before they become something that takes time away from the Chimera’s mission. We dont want the Chimera to be ill after all.”

Finn considered the Chimera as a gigantic patient. He was no engineer and definitely not a medical person so the concept was a little obscure for him but he supposed it probably made good sense. The thought of the Chimera being sick and cranky brought a smile and a chuckle.

“We definitely do not want the ship to be ill. I like that analogy, though. I have a feeling with all the complexities the Chimera is going to keep you on your toes. Hopefully, its easier to get a ship to show up for a dang check-up than it is to wrangle Starfleet crew members to do. At any rate, I’m real glad to have you on board with us. I expect you will bring a unique perspective on some things on account of your unique history. I value that and I want you to feel free to use that history and experience if it seems relevant. I hope your DH will feel the same way.”

He paused and shifted a little in his chair before addressing the next part, “On another note, I think most folks are pretty used to seeing things that are outside the ‘norm’ for them. It’s a big galaxy after all. But, people can also let their natures get the better of them and let fear and prejudice slip in where it shouldn’t. We all know the history of the Borg with the Federation, but you are not them. I expect this crew to treat you as Aurelian Vale and not as ‘that guy who used to be Borg’. I trust that you are able to handle yourself but if people are being ugly I want to know about it so I can correct it.”

Lieutenant Commander Grady - XO

“I will utilize all that I am in my service to the Chimera…and across the varied tasks I perform…as far as showing up for checkups…I will be right there to help monitor, diagnose, and provide what is ultimately medical services for something that is not entirely alive but similar in some aspects…comparable…I will use what and who I am and what I have learned for the greater benefit of the ship and its crew…” Aurelian answers calmly.

“I am indeed me…and my me-ness is there for them…if concerns raise to the point that discussions cannot eleviate issues myself I will bring it forward…depending on circumstance…towards appropriate measures of command…so it can be considered and dealt with…I am not here to create rifts or sow discord…if its unreasonable…and a detriment it will be reported forward”

Finn was reassured by the answer and nodded. “Well, ensign, I am glad to have you aboard. I think you are going to fit in well here and I think the ship is going to be a great environment for you to fulfill your personal goals and find growth and satisfaction here. I don’t want to keep you too long, I’m sure you have others to check in with. My door is always open if you need something.”

Lieutenant Commander Grady - XO

“I most certainly believe I will be able to develop and grow suitably within the Chimera…there are great many possibilitiies…I want to be a part of the team…the family…to help the crew and the vessel…I will most certainly keep the invitation in mind if there are any concerns or needs in the future. I wished to get introductions and checkin done with command before going for Councelling checkin, Medical checkin, and then Department checkin…that way if needed to start work immediately I could do so with no checkins still pending.” Aurelian nods slightly
