The path to this point had been an interesting one to say the least. Journeying through several vessels after the academy had proven a useful building of character and experience. Most officers would prefer to stay on one vessel for a while, but Sean enjoyed his path.

The small shuttle quickly zipped up to meet the Chimera and Moore hopped out with his duffel bag alongside the rest of the newcomers. They were mostly enlisted, but Sean did manage to meet another flight control crewman that would be working one of the shuttlebays. This was a massive ship and they would need myriad people ‘on deck’ to manage things. The CAG and marines would handle most of the day-to-day, but naval work would be critical as well.

Sean found his way to a deck officer to check-in and then made his way to a turbolift to find the first officer. That was his target for signing in. And interestingly enough, this was not on the ‘top’ of the ship. “Deck 23,” he said to the computer.

After the lift slipped him to the deck, the doors opened and he walked towards the CIC. It was a marvelous site on this huge ship. Sean quickly found the XO and dropped his bag to come to a salute. “Sir, Lieutenant Moore reporting for duty.”

Finn looked up from the console he was standing over and gave the other officer a smile. “Welcome, Lieutenant! Glad to have you here, I understand you’re gonna be taking over as chauffeur on this trip?”

“I believe so, sir,” Sean responded. He went at ease a tad before answer the question more. “Helm, flight operations, general bridge operations.” He knew the marines would manage the flight deck, but he was there to help as needed.

He glanced down at the bag Moore had dropped on the deck plating and raised an eyebrow. “Did they forget to show you where you were staying first?”

Moore smiled. “I came straight here,” he responded. “I know my berth, I just wanted to report in first. I’ll get my bag out of here as soon as we’re done.” His smile waned into a sheepish grin - not embarrassment, just awkwardness.

Finn nodded and offered his own grin. “I get it Lieutenant, lots of excitement reporting in for the first time, especially on a ship like the Chimera. Nothing else quite like this ship class out there. Have you had a chance to check over the specs and get yourself acquainted? A helm console is what it is but I imagine she responds differently than other things you might have flown.”

“I have been consuming as much of the specs as possible since being assigned,” responded the lieutenant. “But she is indeed a beast and will take some getting used to. Looking forward to ‘taking her for a spin’.” He not only had to learn the specs and things like deck layouts, but also marine etiquette and interoperations therein. Her last few missions were a point of his study as well.

“I am fairly familiar with the Armadillo shuttles, sir,” he added. He would love to fly one of the Marine Templars, but that would require some training he didn’t quite have. “I can do any necessary checks with those that our crew and NCOs haven’t taken care of already.”

“Well we will get you on the controls soon enough,” he grinned. “I expect you will get the opportunity to ferry us around in a shuttle on any away missions, if we need a good pilot but I think for the most part you’ll be down here with us in the CIC. Plenty of folks down in the shuttle bay to do the checks, you get to tell them what to do now…Lieutenant.”

He placed emphasis on the rank and gave the other officer a friendly wink to let him know that with that higher rank came more reward along with the responsibility.

“Why don’t you take some time to go get yourself situated, check in with sickbay and a counselor and we will get you into the duty rotation so you two can get acquainted,” he gestured to the helm console and gave another grin.

Moore nodded. “Yessir,” he picked up his bag. “I’ll take care of those things now.” He was delighted to be on board, and maybe glad to rid himself of the over-eager behavior he just showed. But he was definitely ready to serve in the CIC and see how this mega-ship ran.

Sean quickly saluted, did an about-face, and made for the turbolift to find his quarters and the doctors.
