Jorem read through the list of crew members yet to have a boarding physical … she was surprised at the length of time of one crew member in particular. He tapped his combadge, opening a channel to Freja Andreassen.
=/\= Captain Andreassen, this is Counselor Ekaton, I need to speak with you at your earliest convenience. My office is on Deck 33. There are some concerns about the crew that I have, and if they aren’t dealt with, the Chimera won’t be able to fulfill its mission. =/\=
He pulled up a file and read through it in detail … yes, a lot to work through.
Lt Ekaton Jorem, CNS, Chimera
=^=Acknowledged, I’ll be there in five minutes Counselor,=^= Came the reply over comms.
As expected, five minutes on the dot, the officer door chimed, signalling that the Captain stood on the other side.

At the door chime, Jorem went to the door and opened it. He saw the captain standing there, and smiled. He stood to one side and motioned for her to enter.
His neurobiology and counselling certificates, as well as his Starfleet Academy and Universitu of Bajor graduation testamurs were on a wall. Next to a desk along the same wall was a bookshelf with both holonovels and physical books, including a book on neurobiology that had his name on it as author, It was titled, The neurobiology of Bajoran youth post the Dominion War.
The book seemed to be playing second fiddle to a photo frame holding a young Cardassian woman dressed in academic robes, smiling broadly. On the shelf in front of the photo was a drawing of Cardassian and Bajoran plants intertwined and forming a heart shape.
As well as the chair behind the desk, there were 3 other chairs in the office, one wooden, one that was a standard issue Starfleet chair and one which was more a lounge chair that seemed to be a recliner with a potential massage function. There was also a three seater lounge - made of leather - and a beanbag. A shimmering blue rug was on the floor in the middle of the room. Next to each chair and the beanbag were little coffee tables and padds, each with the UFOP logo on it.
There were not, however, any potted plants in the room, living or dead.
“Thank you for coming, captain,” he said, “please take a seat. Can I get you something to eat and or drink?”
Lt Ekaton Jorem, CNS, Chimera
“I would love a vanilla rooibos tea latte, please,” Freja replied, taking a seat and observing the room, “You seem to be settling into your quarters and office nicely Counselor, it’s great to see.”
~Freja Andreassen~
Jorem ordered the vanilla rooibos tea latte for the captain and a Cardassian red leaf tea for himself. He put the captain’s down in front of her and nursed his own drink.
“Yes, captain, it has been an interesting experience,” Jorem said to her as he sat, “some ensigns have wanted extended sessions, others have been thinking the Counselling appointment doesn’t apply to them, due to the length of time it has been since they arrived. I’m getting through them and I’m almost to the point of the department heads. I am concerned, Captain, how are you coping with the lack of an XO? Have some of your department heads stepped up to take some of the pressure off you? Is there anything I can do to relieve the pressure on you?”
Jorem drank some of his drink, giving her the chance to reply.
Lt Ekaton Jorem, CNS, Chimera
“I suppose I’m better equipped than most to deal with a lack of XO, owing to my experience with being a fighter pilot, we often had to wear many hats to keep the flight wing in fighting form,” Freja replied, “I would appreciate any assistance you might offer by way of assisting with the bridge watch roster. I’m fairly flexible on the shift watches I run, but I like to run a four shift bridge rotation, with some overlap, but it allows for six hours instead of eight on bridge duty and I find the crew do better in that configuration. I’m pretty flexible on helping out where needed, but I do like to offer senior staff and junior staff opportunities to flex their command muscles. Opportunities that were offered to me in the same manner when I was working my way up the ranks, so I think it’s important that I return that favor…good karma and all.”
