Jack Hammond stood on the beach, stretching as Kilo did her morning zoomies through the tide. It was another glorious morning on the holodeck, maybe soon he would be able to go run on the real thing.

The holodeck doors opened at exactly 6 am and T’Leia strode through, in her usual tan tunic and trouser set. Hair pulled back with a head band so it would not fall into her face. She quickened her pace as she saw Hammond already stretching and Kilo jumping through the water. Reaching Hammond’s side she nodded in greeting.
“Hammond. My apologies, I did attempt to be timely.” She said as she began her own stretches, which were similar to yoga stretches or tai chi. It was obviously something she was well practiced with as she moved fluidly and easily.

Hammond saw her moving quickly to get to him. “Morning T’Leia, I trust you slept well” he said dismissing her concern around the time. “It’s informal, you are just intime” he said moving to his other leg.

Kilo caught wind of her, her head snapping around and then the bullet train was full charge at her and appeared that she was going to tackle the lieutenant.

“I did, thank you…” T’Pris started when saw the dog barrelling toward her like a steam engine and instinctively held her palm up. “Stop.” She said firmly and once the animal obeyed(if she does) then she squatted down to the dog’s height. “Come, you may now greet me calmly.” T’Pris said waving one hand in a come here gesture.

Kilo’s but snapped to the ground like a overly stretched rubber band, her tail swishing with excitement and being given something to do. Her eyes locked on T’Leia waiting eagerly for the ok. When the ok came, she moved in close bumped her snout under T’leia’s hand gave a loud grummph, her tongue came out like a stealth fighter finding it’s target, detected to late as it laid waste to her face with slobber.

T’Pris stroked Kilo and arched her face away from her licking tongue. She gently pushed her head down and scratched her u see her ears with both hands. Then with a final scratch she rose, “Good job, Kilo. I need to continue stretching.” Returning to her stretching she looked over at Hammond. “You look rested. I trust you rested well.”

Kilo sat there looking at her waiting to be released. Hammond smiled having completed his stretch, he shifted on his heals a little to keep limber. “I slept great, I normally do” he said, “How about you, how was your rest?” he asked. She looked rested though with vulcan’s he could never really tell

T’Leia caught Kiki’s eager look and nodded once to her. “You may go, Kilo.” She said with a gesture. “It was sufficient and uneventful.” She said as turned back toward Hammond and continued her stretching.

Hammond smiled as he watched Kilo taken off after some fish in the surf. “I am ready when you are T’leia” he said with a smile

T’Leia finished stretching and nodded that she was ready to go. She was enjoying running on the beach like this. It was not an activity she had actually done as a routine outside of the Academy. Running at the Academy had been on the campus or roads of San Francisco, not on a beach like this. This was a nice way to wake up. Even though it was in a holodeck, the sun, sand and wind felt real. It felt freeing.

As they began to run he started talking, it always helped him, though normally he was talking to Kilo who was currently chasing a scuttle fish through the water, her jaws scooping the water just behind it. “Thank you for dinner and the company last night, it’s been awhile since I had a personal conversation with anyone. ” he said pausing a moment. “I enjoyed it” he said a small grin on his face.

“I did as well. Usually I just have professional conversations with my colleagues. To actually take time to discuss things outside of work was…relaxing.”

“Would you be interested in doing it again, tomorrow night? ” he asked his feet pounding on the sand. He really did not do much in the evenings and have the company had been nice.

“Certainly, do you want the opportunity this time to create a meal?” T’Leia asked.

He looked at her with a smile, “My quarters then eighteen hundread?” he asked, “And yes I would love to cook a meal for you” his pace quickened a little as the ran, he knew now that she could keep pace well enough.

Indeed she could keep up and did. She easily moved into a rhythm where her breathing synced her pace and the distance flew by.

He looked at her briefly. “So what are you plans after the k9 training session today T’leia?” he asked curious about what she did during the day in science.

“On shift you mean? My teams have several projects ongoing in the Science lab and we have an early morning coffee meeting where I am updated on their progress and what their future plans are. If we are not working on a current mission project for the ship then I have my own research projects I will work on through out the day. I have several on the go at the moment. A couple of plant grows in the arboretum and two different holographic terraforming experiments.”

He thought a moment, “Mind telling me a little more about the Terraforming ?” he asked as they approached the halfway mark. Kilo was still playing in the water and the scuttle fish. it was a sight to see her jaw open trying to scoup them up and splashing her self silly in the process.

T’Leia followed his gaze and watched the dog for a moment. “Does she actually eat any she catches?” She asked before answering his question.

Hammond smiled. “I don’t know, she’s never caught one” he laughed.

“I have several terraforming experiments going on a variety of classes so that we can learn what is needed in terraforming each one. Depending on the class there are different things needed. Minshara class is earth types so no terraforming is needed. Class D are moons with no atmospheres so biodomes would be needed.”

He listed as the continued to Jog, “I would be interesting in seeing your work some time” he said, he was not much for science but he still found it interesting. It would also give him a chance to get to know her better.

“I would be happy to show you what I have in simulation, whenever you wish to see it just let me know.” She was enjoying the rhythm of the run. “So do you change the program when you are ready to change with Kilo?”
