Hammond smiled, “She’ll eat them just about anyway, fruit is mussy enough for her to work through, Veggies she’ll eat raw but she likes them boiled and mussy.” he noted Kilo looking over at him over her shoulder then she looked back at T’Leia licking her snout with a loud glip of her tongue.

“Alright, Cumputer create a plate of mixed diced fruit and cooked diced vegetables .” When the replicator complied she picked up the plate and set it down on the floor for Kilo. She then returned to the table, picked up her brandy and joined Hammond on the divan.

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Kilo looked up at her waiting to be released, her head followed her as she sat down next to Hammond her eyes glued to T’Leia waiting for the ok. Hammond turned a little to face T’Leia, “She’s waiting for you to tell her it’s ok to eat the food.” he noted smiling and proud that regardless of who she was following the rules.

“Ah, my apologies Kilo. Go ahead.” T’Leia said looking at the dog and she nodded in case that was needed as well.

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Kilo dove in like it was her last and only meal. “Sorry I should have said that, Its just a normal thing for me.” he said smiling warmly he took a drink of his brandy. “So where where we?” he asked

T’Leia sat back and sipped her brandy. “I understand why you have Kilo now. She is a fascinating creature. Do you use her in your work, too?”

Lt. T’Leia CSO
Hammond gave a small nod, “She is well trained for close quarters work, and search, almost always with me. ” he said

“I look forward to seeing her in action one day. Do you have training sessions for her on the holodeck?”

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Hammond smiled, “Every Tuesday and thursday” he said looking at Kilo as she ate. “We do searches and train with various teams for tactical and search and rescue” he took a long sip of his brandy. “She really loves it. You should come sometime”

Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)

“My thought exactly, which was why I asked. Thank you for the invitation, I am quite interested in seeing her in action. Is she your first dog? How did you get into working with dogs?”

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Hammond smiled and finished his brandy looked at the glass thinking if he should have another. ” it was my first job in the Corp, we also used them alot during engagements during the domino War. ” he said looking at Kilo. ” its not normal for someone of my rank to be a handler.” He said. “But i took jer on as a personal favor and turned out I missed having a dog. Now you cant seperate us..”

T’Leia nodded in understanding. “That is logical.” She noted his brandy was low though hers remained half full. “Would you like some more brandy?” She asked as she rose and moved over to the dining table, picked up the brandy bottle and brought it back offering to pour for him.

Lt. T’Leia CSO
Hammond looked at his glass, he wa drinking a little faster than he normallyi must be nervious, he thought. “Yes, just a pull though” he noted, “would you like to learn how to handle Kilo?” He asked . “She seems to really like you” he noted

T’Leia carefully just poured a couple of finger widths of brandy in his glass, glancing at him to see if it was enough before sitting down again beside him.
“Yes, I would love to learn how to handle her. If we are going to be spending more time together then it would seem advisable for me to understand that so I know what I need to be doing with her. There is no sense confusing the poor animal.”

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Hammond had been trying to get a read all night to see how the date was going. It seemed to be going well he had to look for much more subtle queues than he was used too. The fact that she was expecting to be spending enough time together than it would be good for her to know how to command Kilo he took as a sign that she was at the very least interested in friendship. “Would you like to learn a few of the basic commands now?” he asked.

Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)

“Yes.” T’Leia said as she set down her brandy glass and sat up straight, ready to listen and follow his cues. She looked at Kilo to see what she was doing.

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Hammond set his glass down on the low table and leaned slightly forward, his voice dropping into that steady cadence that came with years of training others. “Alright, we’ll start simple—these are her foundation commands. She knows my voice best, but she’s smart and will pick up yours quickly if you’re consistent.”

He pointed toward Kilo, who was still happily chewing her way through the last bits of fruit. “The first is sit. Clear, firm tone. Just say the word once—don’t repeat it. If she’s distracted, a small hand motion helps.” He demonstrated, palm up, then closed to a fist lowering the hand slightly as he gave the cue. “Kilo, sit.” The dog’s rump hit the deck with a soft thud, her tail giving an eager thump.

“Good girl,” Hammond praised, then looked at T’Leia. “Your turn—use the same word, same tone. She’ll listen.”

Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)

“She is already sitting.” T’Leia pointed out. “Can you get her to stand?” She watched and listened closely to Hammond’s commands as he worked with the dog.

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Hammond chuckled softly at her observation. “Fair enough. You’re right,” He leaned forward, his tone firm but calm.

“Kilo, up.”

Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)

“The commands seem very basic and intuitive.” T’Leia before turning to Kilo and said clearly and calming but with command. In the same tone, Hammond had used. “Kilo, sit.” She kept eye contact with the animal as she spoke.

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Kilo’s butt snapped to the floor like a soldier snapping to attention her eyes locked with T’Leia her eyes narrowing waiting for the next command.

Hammond smiled and nodded his head. He did not say anything though and Just watched.

“Kilo, come!” T’Leia said making a quick beckoning motion with her hand. Once Kilo obeyed T’Leia would add the command. “Down,” Moving her hand in a flat downward motion.

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Kilo shot over to her quickly then quickly laid down at the command, her eyes still locked on T’Leia with fierce attention. “She’ll not obey anyone else’s commands until you release here, except mine.” he noted. “She will always obey me no mater who is handling her.” he said. Kilo’s eyes shifted to him for a brief moment while he spoke, not command came so she refocused on T’Leia.

“Good, Kilo. Release,” T’Leia said as she sat back and looked to Hammond.”Yes, I would definitely like to see her at work.”Picking up her glass she finished her brandy before rising. “I would like to thank you and Kilo for an enjoyable evening, Hammond. I must retire now to prepare for my shift tomorrow. What time on Tuesday do you and Kilo train together? I will see if I can arrange my shift so that I can come and watch.”

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Hammond looked at the time, and left what was left of his brandy, standing he smiled. “Well it’s at 7am just after my morning run, which you are also welcome to join us for” he noted. “We had an amazing time” he noted. “I hope we can do it again soon?” he asked.

Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)

“Absolutely. I will see you at 6 am then for the run, and I will stay to watch Kilo’s training. My shift on the bridge is not until 0900.” T’Leia said as she walked both of them to the door. “Goodnight, Hammond, and of course, you too, Kilo. Thank you for coming for dinner. I enjoyed sharing my native foods with you.”
