A couple of hours had passed since the Tal’Kiran vanished. The moment the comms meeting ended, she broke formation and cloaked, her crew reduced to just 80 volunteers—the bare minimum needed to keep a D’Deridex operational. She disappeared into the nebula without a word. Since then… nothing. No pings. No telemetry. Not even sensor ghosts. Just silence.

The IKS K’voras cloaked not long after, slipping out of the nebula just far enough to get a scan. What she found wasn’t comforting. The monsters were still out there—those warped, hulking things patrolling the edges of long-range sensors, shifting in and out of view like predators waiting for a lapse in attention. They hadn’t moved on. Their focus was still locked on Chimera and her allies.

But the Tal’Kiran?

Still no sign. And in this kind of silence, that’s the part that keeps you watching the shadows.

Freja hated the waiting game, she supposed it came from her years as a fighter pilot. She was used to getting out there and doing rather than sitting in a chair waiting for word.

At least, thanks to the K’voras, their enemy seemed to be fixated on them rather than moving on to another less military-like object for the time being.

~Freja Andreassen~

Suddenly there was beeping at the console a hail was coming in the officer at the Ops station turned “Captain we are getting a hail it appears to be the Tal’Kiran…but I don’t know it’s like their id signal is flickering…could just be the nebula I will run diagnostics but would you like me to open channel anyway?” She asked

Kira The Weasel
GMT Phoenix

“Yes, let’s hear it,” Freja replied.

~Freja Andreassen~

She pulled it up it was audio only there was some static and some other artifacts

“So they know our ship name now? What else do they know, because I’m pretty sure that’s not the Tal’Kiran anymore,” Freja replied, “Run diagnostics, let’s see if we can analyze the static.”

~Freja Andreassen~

The Officer at the opps station began to analyze the static

“There is nothing much here captain just the signs that they seem to have fallen to whatever this infection is as well

Hammond stood on in the back observing, it certainly felt suspicious to him. He did not say anything yet the captain seemed to be on a similar thought line and he did not want to disrupt. He typed a few stand by orders to the wings to be read.

T’Leia entered the bridge and moved over to the Science station to start her shift. She nodded to the Junior officer who gave it up to her and logged in. Running the science logs so she could catch up on what was going on.
OOC: I am afraid I came in mid sim so not exactly what was tried against these aliens. Did anything effect them?)

Lt. T’Leia CSO

OOC: Basically the nebula gases kill them, they’ve come from subspace and I’m sure I’m oversimplifying, Kira when you have a moment, perhaps a summary on your portion of the MOTD may be in order?

IC:

Freja breathed in through her nose, “Do we have any sensor data, they mentioned reinforcements?” She asked. This was rapidly getting out of control and she needed to try and wrap her head around a solution quickly. Maybe the solution was blow them out of the sky, but she needed a game plan before charging out of the nebula with guns blazing.

~Freja Andreassen~

“ Running scans, Captsin.”
T’Leia frowned and quickly ran what scans she could given where they were.

Lt. T’Leia CSO

“Let me know if we need to reposition the ship Lt,” Freja spoke to her CSO, “We can try moving closer to the edges of the nebula to see if that clears things up.”

~Freja Andreassen~

OCC I will come up with an update but it may have to wait for the Holiday weekend for the MOTD to be updated I’m afraid my night job plus having a health scare has me struggling Sorry guys I’m trying :(

the sensors were not able to see out of the Nebula however the computer had a full update The Nebula’s Ionization seemed to destabilize the entity as for conventional weapons Torpedoes were effective Phasers and other energy beams started out fine however seemed to lose effectiveness overtime as if the entity was starting to figure out how to absorb them hand phasers on the personnel level stunned the creature for a few seconds on the highest kill setting and disinefected surfaces that were not completely covered in the entity

Lt. T’Leia studied the scans and the reports on the last interactions with the entity.
“Captain, I cannot get any sensor readings outside of the Nebula but going over the readings of the interactions with the bring it would appear that the ionization of the nebula affects it and destabilizes it. Torpedoes too seemed to affect it, everything else energy beam wise was absorbed, as if it could adapt to them. I would suggest we look at the ionization effect more and see if we could turn that into a weapon.” Tapping her controls she prepared to set up some simulations. “I will run simulations to see if we can use the deflector dish to emit this ionization and if it would be enough to harm this creature and drive it away. I could also run simulations to see if we can reconfigure our shields to do the same. If these two things work we can send the specifics to the other ships.”

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Hammond and Kilo moved over to the science station he wanted to get a look at what she was seeing. He Stood close enough to get a look at the screen as she worked but did not speak. He did not want to interrupt her through process. Kilo stayed glued to hammends right leg, he was on duty.

Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)

T’Leia glanced at Hawk as he moved up beside her but as he didn’t say anything she returned to her work though she asked, “Any other suggestions, Colonel?”

Lt. T’Leia CSO

He shook his head, “No Lieutenant, I’m just trying to get a closer look at what your seeing, incase i have to send my men over there. ” he noted. “I did not want to interrupt you while you were working.”

Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)

“Quite alright, I can speak while I work. I just wanted to be sure you did not have something I could add to the algorithms.” Indeed while she spoke her hands swept over her board as commands and equations flew across the screen.

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Lunan leaned over the opposite side of the Science Console, “What about some kind of warhead with light attached to the end, so at least we can see inside the nebula itself?”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

T’Leia glanced at the Colonel. “Would that not be in your department, Colonel?”

Lt. T’Leia CSO
Hammond thought about, “Maybe more of an engineering thing, though im sure we could deliver the payload easy enough” he smiled “What kind of light are you thinking?”

Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)

“Commander, perhaps we could bring Engineering to work the Colonel on that idea?” She suggested.

Lt. T’Leia CSO

OCC look to Wrath of Khan for an idea of what the nebula is doing to the shields and sensors also forgive me i forgot the original name of the engineering NE i came up with before

Ensign Trilia sh’Miros stood at the engineering station, her fingers dancing across the console with practiced ease.
“We’re making good progress tuning the phaser arrays,” she reported, glancing over her shoulder. “We’ve also begun incorporating the ionized particles from the nebula into the torpedo warhead. It’s showing promise.”

Hammond moved next to the ensign and looked over her shoulder, “Good once you have it, send the spec’s to the flight deck so they can start modifying the fighters weaponry as well.” he noted

Her antennae twitched with excitement as she continued. “Commander Hammond, the trials of the shielded EV suits are progressing well, but to fully calibrate the ship’s weapons against the entity, I recommend we obtain a fresh sample. That should allow us to fine-tune our systems for maximum effectiveness.

Kira The Weasel
GMT Phoenix
He gave her a skeptical look, “What’s the best way to get a sample, I would prefer to not lose more of my Marines to this thing.” the concern on his face was not masked.

Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)

“Like I said, Commander, the shielded EV suits should protect your marines long enough to get the sample and exfiltrate,” Trilia said firmly, though her voice wavered slightly. “Maybe we could… I don’t know… maybe target the Pickett.”

Her antennae drooped, and her mood visibly dimmed.
“End their suffering. I know the rest of the ships need to be handled too, but… that crew deserves peace.”
“Hammond place a hand softly on her shoulder. “Not Entirely my call, but I agree with you” he said his voice loaded with compassion.

She turned back to him, antennae rising again with determination.
“The suits should hold through about six direct exposures to the entity before the shielding fails. After that… even they won’t be enough. It’ll have to be fast. Precise. In and out.”

Kira The Weasel
GMT Phoenix
“let me know when the suits are ready we will get you the sample” he noted. “Captain, I recommend the Pickett for any initial testing of the weapons , the crew has suffered enough” he said

Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)

“Oh, they’re as ready as they’re going to be,” Trilia said with a small sigh, before turning to the science officer. “But I wonder, Lieutenant T’Leia—could the data we’ve collected help us pinpoint exactly where we’ll need to take the sample from?” she asked, her antennae angled forward with curiosity.

Kira The Weasel
GMT Phoenix

“My suggestion would be to take it from the highest point of concentration of the ionization.”

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Trilia blinked, her antennae twitching with confusion.
“Wait—are you talking about the ionization?” she asked, tilting her head slightly. “I was referring to the Pickett. I meant the best location on the ship to collect a fresh sample of the entity.”

She glanced between the consoles and the science officer, then clarified with a hint of urgency in her tone.
“If we can isolate where its presence is strongest, we’ll have a much better chance of fine-tuning our weapons and shielding. I want this right the first time.”

Kira The Weasel
GMT Phoenix

OOC: Sorry, I got confused on what you were referring too.
IC:
T’Leia watched a brow as she switched her sensors to the Pickett and the part of the entity the engineer was speaking of to see where might be the best place to get a sample.

Lt. T’Leia CSO

The sensors could not scan the current status of the USS Pickett but the sensors did have quite a bit of data built up from when the pickett was consumed the entity seemed to be centered around the warpcore and the computer core which meant it was also heavily attacking the ENITIY AI core

Hammond had remained quiet while they worked, he had questions but he waited for a good place to ask. “Can my team beam in? or do we have to breach?” he asked

Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)

T’Leia shook her head in the negative, “I cannot get any current scans on the Pickett, but from what I can see from previous scans I would postulate that the entity has consumed the entire ship. My suggestion would be breach the ship and head to the warp core, it is where it should be the densest. Take your samples , then set up explosives to take the Pickett out on your way out.”

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Hammond looked to T’Leia, “Could they overload the core?” he asked, thinking that if it was like before the explosives would not do they job they wanted? But he was a sled jockey he did not really fully grasp the details of it. ”

Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)

“Whether the entity has the intelligence for that I can’t postulate but explosives will be enough to detonate the warp core and using explosives instead of anything attached to the computer will ensure the entity cannot interfere.”

Lt. T’Leia CSO

“Thank you Lieutenant,” He said to T’leia. “Captain, with your go, Sir, I’ll start prepping my marines.” he said, the Captain currently had operational command.

Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)

“You have a go Colonel,” Freja nodded, “Let me know if you require anything on my end, but let’s make something happen.”

~Freja Andreassen~

=^=”Hammond to Colonel Moren assemble Dagger, and The Angels and meet me in the flight ready room in 15 minutes.”=^= Hammond ordered,.

=^=”Sir” =^= came a voice over the comms.

Hammond looked at the Captain, “Sir, you want any of your people on this?” he asked her.

Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)

“Undecided, would your team benefit from a particular department’s presence on your mission? Such as medical, science or even an engineering aspect?” Freja asked.

~Freja Andreassen~

Hammond thought on it for a moment, The Angels had the medical needs covered, and ships medical were not trained yet to work with marines which could cause problems but still not a bad idea, science they needed, engineering was coverd..

“We could use someone from science to make sure we are collecting the right thing, we have medical covered, could use an engineer” he noted. “But they will be under Marine command, my Marines need them to follow directions no matter what.” he said
