OOC: Hey Kira, hope you don’t mind, I needed something to post about. :)IC:
=^=Andreassen to senior staff, a reminder, we have a meeting with our fellow ships in about ten minutes over comms, please have any pertinent notes to our situation ready to discuss,=^= Freja tapped her badge again and took a brief moment to sit in her command chair just soaking it in.
She needed the minute, she realized, not having had the minute to decompress from the rather disturbing experience near the swarm. Admittedly, because she had spent her life generally not relying on her psionic abilities, experiences with them often left her feeling…unsettled.
At least the nebula seemed to have the effect they needed.

=^= On my way Captain.=^= Bob replied he turned to his team as he left.
“Keep working on finding a way to utilise the ionisation radiation I’ll be in a meeting if anyone needs me.” With that he headed to the bridge and to the briefing room.Lt. Bob Jeffers (CE)
Soon, all the captains of the fleet appeared on screen, their faces drawn with tension, fear, and the heavy weight of uncertainty. At the center of one feed sat Captain T’Mora, her Caitian features unnaturally still—ears laid back, her golden eyes dull and unfocused, her usually well-groomed fur slightly disheveled, as if she lacked the energy or will to tend to herself.
To her left sat Commander Thol, the Bolian officer’s bright blue skin contrasting sharply with the gloom that hung over the meeting. His normally easygoing demeanor was nowhere to be found, his posture rigid, hands clasped tightly in his lap. He said nothing, but the furrow of his brow and the set of his jaw spoke to the helpless frustration simmering beneath the surface.
On T’Mora’s right, her Bajoran first officer sat close, her expression a delicate mix of professionalism and compassion. One hand rested gently on T’Mora’s paw—an unspoken gesture of support rarely seen between senior officers, but one that spoke volumes of the bond forged by trauma.
Despite the fear, despite the sheer impossibility of what they were facing, all eyes inevitably turned to Captain Andreassen. The screens flickered slightly, the silence heavy with expectation. There were no easy answers—perhaps no answers at all. But answers weren’t what they needed most right now.
They needed someone to lead.

GMT Phoenix“I guess I’ll start,” Freja spoke, she could feel the expectation of the less experienced captains, “Our enemy isn’t keen to follow us into the nebula. My crew is working on some ways to perhaps use that knowledge to fight them. The sample we brought aboard basically fell apart after we entered the nebula as well. Something about this nebula is toxic to them.”
“Our first priority needs to be killing this swarm. Before it absorbs another ship, another planet, another person,” she took a deep breath, “I sensed things telepathically, the swarm is not going to stop on its own.”
“Would anyone else like the floor?” She invited.

Bob had been watching and listening, it seemed like a perfect opportunity to chime in. He cleared his throat awkwardly before speaking up.
“Permission to speak Captain?” He asked.Lt. Bob Jeffers (CE)
“Granted, this is my chief engineer, Lt. Jeffers,” Freja nodded at Bob to say what he wanted to say.

OOC sorry for the delay I have just been so wiped out from work I have not had the energy to post
The species representatives and captains all looked on Bob expectantly however it was Shara who spoke the Changling giving a soft smile “Yes Of course Starfleets famous Engineers who can take Rocks and make replicators I should have known it might come down to them”
Kira The Weasel
GMT PhoenixHammond walked in, gave the captain an appoligetic looks and sat down in the first availiable seat. “Six, Kilo”, he said softly. Kilo took up possiton on the floor behind his chair laying down behind but aleart.
Bob cleared his throat to give himself time before speaking.
“Thank you Captain. We’ve taken a look at a sample we’ve had of the evil ship monsters. Interestingly, it grows when it absorbs any form of matter. However, entering the nebula seems to have destroyed it completely. We’ve found that the ionising radiation of the nebula kills it. We’re currently working on a way to weaponise the radiation.” Bob explained and waited for any questions.Lt. Bob Jeffers (CE)
“Would it be possible and or practical to infuse some torpedoes with this particular mix of radiation?” Freja asked.
~Freya Andreassen~
“We.” Bob began at the same time as the Ensign. He stopped and motioned for the Ensign to continue.
“We think so ma’am” said Ensign Rallis an Andorian who had come up with Bob for the meeting She was not trying to overstep her bounds or anything just trying to be helpful with input “We also believe that Utilizing the old style of Hull Polarization on top of shields will give us the best protection against whatever this Entity is We also have some EV suits using forcefield emmiters and holo emitters to create a shielded suit of sorts it wont last long maybe 6 incounters with the entity but It should give anyone needing to go into a ship with such an infection the ability to get something done…hopefully” she said

GMT PhoenixCol. Hammond spoked up, as his fighters had taken serious casualties in their first engagement. His tone was clear and unshaken, years of battle had hardened him, still this was about as wierd as he had seen. “If it will helps, The Fleet Angles have runabouts and shuttles with advanced sensor arrays and shielding , it may prove usefull if we plan on any kind of insertion.” he noted. “If we do send someone in, I would suggest letting my marines handle the boarding and escourt, maybe even Recon one, as well.” he noted and paused, “Anything that can be done to give my birds a fighting chance would be welcome” he finished.
Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 77th Air-Ground Task Foce “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)T’mora spoke up, her voice trembling with fear. “Do we know if there’s any way to reverse this? Is my friend really gone?” It was Commander Thol who answered—grimly.
“I don’t believe that’s possible,” he said, his tone flat. “From what I scanned—while running for my life, mind you—the thing breaks down genetic code and absorbs it, fusing the lost crew and tech into itself. It’s… consuming them.”
He paused, letting the horror of that truth settle over the room before continuing.
“As I mentioned during our escape, phasers set to maximum kill only stun the larger biomatter patches for about forty-five seconds—at most. The highest stun setting can disinfect surfaces or items, but only if they’re not already covered in that stuff. If they are, the biomatter just… shakes it off.”
He shook his head.
“That’s just our hand phasers. I imagine the ship’s weapons could overwhelm its regenerative abilities—but even that’s not guaranteed.”
Kira The Weasel
GMT Phoenix“I agree with Commander Thol’s assessment,” Freja replied firmly, feeling the weight of the command fully, “I can sense them in the swarm, but they are in agony,” she emphasized the last word, allowing it to sink in, “The agony I sensed is so extreme that I don’t know that even if we could somehow resconstitute their bodies that they’d be of sound mind…that they would be the people we know and work with. The humane thing to do is to end their suffering by stopping the swarm. They are gone and the best thing we can do for their memory is to end the swarm here and now.”

OOC: I am pretty much back, I’m back on dayshift, I’m going to leave my LOA up a few more days, just in case.
T’mora actually began to cry heavily her XO placing a kind hand on the Caitians shoulder T’mora wore her heart on her sleeve it was a strength and a weakness but nobody said a thing until A’zna spoke again “Captain Might i recommend sending one of my D’Deridex class ships out to scout for us They should not be able to see through the cloak”
Kira The Weasel
GMT Phoenix“Let’s do that,” Freja nodded, “It’s a good way to assess how much of our technology they might be aware of based on what they’ve absorbed thus far, plus provide us with useful intel. We don’t yet know if this....absorbing also means the swarm knows some of our tactics and knowledge or if the swarm is simply collecting parts as it seems to chant frequently. Before we go up against this thing again, I want to try and assess how much it actually learns from the ships it picks clean, like the Borg will adapt based on what they assimilate, for example. If possible, but our priority needs to be putting it down, as quickly as possible. Would anyone else like the floor at this time?”
~Freja Andreassen~
“It might be wise for them to go radio silent until they’re certain it’s clear—or until they return to the nebula to deliver their report,” A’zna added. “That is, assuming they accept the mission. I won’t send anyone who isn’t willing, not with my people already at risk.”
Freja nodded at the comment.
She paused, then continued, “I’ll send the Tal’Kiran. Their crew is the smallest, and we’ll implement every available precaution—polarizing the hull plating once shields fail, outfitting the crew with EV suits designed to resist whatever influence this is… hopefully.”
Kira The Weasel
GMT PhoenixBob just listened as the others talked, waiting for something relevant that he could say to chip in.
Lt. Bob Jeffers (CE)
<bump>
“Thank you A’zna, if we can be of any assistance for your volunteers, let us know,” Freja replied, “Any other ideas at this time or shall we adjourn for the time being?”
-Freja Andreassen
OOC Title drop in this lovely post :D
A’zna gave a respectful nod and quietly left the conference call.
It was then that Shara, the Dominion Founder commanding from her dreadnought, spoke.
“Captain, the attack ship that accompanied your mission recovered a data recorder from the USS Pickett,” she reported. “The recorder itself was quarantined upon recovery. We’ve since extracted the data and are transmitting it now. Curiously, some of the footage appears to have come from a Dominion vessel.”
The screen shifted as the footage began to play for everyone still on the call.
The first clip showed the experimental Dominion dreadnought initiating its rift drive, diving into subspace. At first, the journey appeared routine—but midway through the brief transit, the vessel collided with what seemed to be a thin veil of biomatter. As the dreadnought opened its exit rift and began to emerge, red arcs of lightning suddenly surged across the hull. The ship began to tumble uncontrollably, stern over bow.
The view cut to the perspective of a nearby support ship, positioned outside the rift. The dreadnought spun helplessly as something began to grow—an enormous, horn-like protrusion emerging from the top of its hull.
Just like what happened to the Pickett and the Y’Tang, red lightning burst outward from the horn, leaping between nearby Dominion ships. One by one, they began to succumb to the same corrupting force that had overtaken the dreadnought.
The second dreadnought—flagship of the support fleet—moved in dangerously close. Once fully corrupted, it merged with the first. Their horns fused into a single, even larger growth. Later timestamped footage showed a third dreadnought undergoing the same fate, merging to form the monstrous mothership now known to be at the center of the corrupted fleet. Its horn—massive, grotesque, and pulsating—was the same sickening weapon seen during their last encounter.
The Dominion battlecruisers had also developed smaller versions of these horns, though the effect seemed scaled to the size of the vessel.
Shara’s voice returned, calm but resolute.
“It appears we’re dealing with something that came from subspace.”
Kira The Weasel
GMT Phoenix“That certainly is useful information, I wonder if we can somehow send it back into subspace or if it’s grown far too....large for that existence now,” Freja mused out loud, “I guess our strategy now would be to pool our resources on what we know about subspace, unless anyone has another suggestion? I’ll admit, my background is decidedly on the tactical ‘blow up the enemy ships’ rather than study it, but my XO came up through the ranks as a scientist and can likely assist with any research as well as my Chief science officer, Chief engineer and anyone in their departments who might have a head for this sort of thing.”
~Freja Andreassen~
Hammond’s eyes narrowed slightly at the “blow up the enemy ships” and a small grin crossed his lips. “My Marines are standing by to do what is asked of us” he responded plainly. “I’m affraid though science is not my strong suit either”. he looked down at kilo, her head did not lift of the ground, but her eyes rolled up to make eye contact. She let out a small snort and went back to resting.
Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 77th Air-Ground Task Foce “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)Captain Kromak of the I.K.S. Gorkon spoke first, her voice firm and unwavering. “Captain, if what you say about this… entity is true—if it corrupts both flesh and machine and seeks only to consume—then it cannot be allowed to exist. It is a threat to all life, and it must be destroyed. Immediately.”
Before Andreassen could respond, another voice chimed in.
“I must agree with the Klingon,” said Gul Daras, his tone dark with urgency. “The time for study is over. If we hesitate, every one of our civilizations may fall.”
Captain Roth of the Cthulhu leaned forward, frowning. “Captain, I know the Federation’s mission is to seek out new life and new civilizations—but this thing? It’s too dangerous. Not just for us, but for everyone. What happens if it encounters the Borg? If it consumes them, it becomes something even worse. But if the Borg assimilate it, we’re looking at the Borg becoming a bioweapon beyond anything we’ve ever imagined.”
Kira The Weasel
GMT Phoenix“Perhaps I wasn’t entirely clear, I’m not saying study the thing before we blow it up,” Freja waved her hand, “Our first priority is to get this thing taken care of, permanently. Perhaps understanding its origins may assist in that primary goal. If it came from subpsace as well, after we subdue this threat, we will want to still understand how it came to be so that we can make sure nobody else accidently sets off another attack.”
~Freja Andreassen~
Hammond tensed ever so slightly at the mention of the Borg, it was unlikely that anyone noticed, kilo sirt with a soft wimper acknowladging the stress. “Do we have a telepath available and have we attempted to comunicate with it that way?” he suggested not in a disrespectful way, but since his marines were often the ones that saw the highest casualties he wanted to ensure there was not a peacefull way out of this.
Colonel Jaxon ‘Hawk’ Hammond
Commander 77th Air-Ground Task Foce “Iron Valkyries” (CAG)“As I’m mostly Betazoid, only my paternal grandfather was Human, I am a telepath, not an empath.” Freja raised her hand, “I didn’t attempt to communicate with it, but something in it’s....mannerisms tells me communication wouldn’t be useful. I’d be interested to compare notes with anyone else who could sense the sort of inner dialogue of the swarm though. It sort of reminded me of old horror movies from earth where there were zombies that were essentially the walking dead looking for ‘brains’, instead this swarm is looking for ‘parts’. I was able to ascertain that large parts are planets and small parts are ships.”
~Freja Andreassen~
“Would anyone else like the floor or shall we dismiss the meeting for now and see what the Tal’Kiran crew uncovers?” Freja asked.
~Freja Andreassen~
OOC if I was not clear earlier the Corruption weapon is a short ranged weapon just FYI
“I’ve updated the Dominion captain,” Shara reported. “All ships have been ordered to fall back to Dominion-controlled systems. Warships are on alert and instructed to maintain distance and engage only with long-range weapons.”
With that, the briefing fell silent. There was nothing more to add—just the heavy stillness of a fleet in hiding, waiting.
The Tal’Kiran had already cloaked and presumably slipped out of the nebula to begin its scouting run. Now all they could do was wait… and hope it brought back news worth hearing.
