The Group of thrity five remaining crew members of the USS Pickett made their way carefully though the quickly corrupting corridors of their ship as they finally made it to the small shuttle bay with its two tiny shuttle pods they began to pile in Commander Thol leading his people was holding off the spread the shuttle bay was the last area of the ship that had yet to fall the Picketts AI shimmered roughly into existence “H…H…HurrYYYY C…COOMMMANDER IIIi/./III…I Cannnnn nottottttt Hoooolllddddd itttt....Backkkkkk Annnyyyyy Lonnnnger” the AI forced out it was clearly being consumed and corrupted by the entity

Commander thol turned to get onto the shuttle and closed the shuttle door the shuttles launched just in time Now it was up to either the Tribute or the Chimera to save them from the threats

“Looks like we have incoming Pickett survivors, let’s try and keep the enemy off them so we can get them safely aboard either us or the Tribute,” Freja ordered as she observed the fight.

OOC: Apologies for my extended absence, working retail during the holiday season is a pain in the neck.

“Captain if you need me to I’ll help with the survivors and medical. Getting them into sickbay and what not. With your permission captain.” Melanie asked.

The Picketts’ shuttles headed for the Tribute, which was staying mostly out of the fight for the moment. Over the comms, Commander T’arn’s voice cut through with urgency.

“Captain, might I recommend that the Tribute warp out with those two shuttles instead of docking them for now—as a quarantine procedure!” she shouted, her tone sharpened by the tense situation.

The Vornoth rocked violently as it took a hit from the attacking ships. T’arn continued with growing urgency, “Also, might I suggest we fall back and begin analyzing the information we’ve gathered to come up with a plan!”

“Agreed on all points Commander T’arn, let’s retreat and live to fight another day,” Freja turned to tactical, “Let’s signal everyone to regroup with the rest of the fleet, we can’t hold this fight for now. Recall our fighters.”

Lieutenant Threen struggled to maintain focus as the Dominion attack ships pressed their assault. One of the enemy vessels, caught in the sustained crossfire of the Chimera and the Vornoth, finally erupted in a violent explosion. From the wreckage, an ominous red mist began to spread outward, drifting eerily in the void.

“Scanning the debris now,” one of the bridge officers reported.

The readings sent a chill through the room. “The mist is… showing life signs,” another officer confirmed, their tone uneasy.

Threen’s jaw tightened. “Keep us clear of it. Let’s avoid any proximity to ships that are falling apart.”

But then, his breath hitched. His eyes darted to his console, and his voice rose. “Captain—the Pickett!”

The viewscreen shifted to display the USS Pickett, its systems flickering unnaturally as it powered up. The ship, now eerily active, began moving to join the rest of the corrupted fleet. The sacrifice of the lone brave officer who stayed aboard had failed to keep the ship from joining the horde before them.

Threen’s knuckles whitened as he gripped the edge of his console. Shaking off the momentary shock, he tapped his comms panel.

=^= “Fighters, full recall! Get back to the Chimera immediately. We are getting the hell out of here!” =^=

The urgency in his voice left no room for doubt as the Chimera prepared to retreat from the growing nightmare.

The Dominion Leech fighters, previously relentless in their pursuit, seemed to shift tactics. At first, they pressed the advantage, darting aggressively around the retreating Starfleet fighters. But almost as quickly as they had surged forward, they veered away, heading back toward their own fleet.

A grim realization began to settle among the bridge crews as they watched the Dominion ships cluster around their grotesque mothership. A massive tendril of biomatter extended from the monstrosity, latching onto a nearby Dominion battlecruiser.

=^=“It’s… eating it,”=^= one pilot muttered, his voice shaky over the comms.

The monstrous vessel appeared to be repairing itself, the gaping hull damage inflicted earlier—when the Y’Tang had been hurled into it—visibly knitting together as the battlecruiser was consumed.

In the chaos, it became clear to the retreating forces that whatever this entity was, it had decided to turn its attention inward, prioritizing its own survival. For now, it seemed, the Chimera and her escort ships were being spared, though the pilots knew better than to linger.

As the fighters banked hard to return to their carriers, the enormity of what they had witnessed hung heavy in the air. The Chimera was retreating not out of victory, but because a force beyond comprehension had granted them a momentary reprieve.

“We’ll be back,” Freja spoke almost to herself, “Helm as soon as all fighters are back, let’s get out of here before that thing changes its mind. We need more details before we try and take it again. Let’s start analyzing the series of events and any sensor data, it’s a good place to start. Do we have any other telepaths aboard, if they sensed anything, I want them to write an account of it. I’ll do my own account once we’re out of the danger zone. There’s something very nasty going down with this thing.”
