M’alek shifted a little in his seat marking his first targets and lighting up a few secondaries. He was calm and collected ready to get the job done. He triggered internal coms to gamma, ‘looking like we’ll take the left flank hold for orders’ he said

As security Chief she stood there at her station on the bridge but had noticed something unusual for security purposes. However, she doesn’t think it is an issue for some time until she realized that it is.

The wave of leeches surged toward the fighters with terrifying speed, their grotesque, single-eyed forms reflecting the dim light of space. The Chimera’s Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) was working overtime, phaser beams slicing through the void and picking off targets one by one. Despite the intense effort, 75 leeches remained out of the initial 150.

As the fighter squadron engaged the oncoming leeches, chaos erupted. The leeches’ eye beams proved devastatingly effective against the fighters’ shields. A single hit would deplete shields entirely, and a second hit would destroy the craft in a brilliant flare of light. Emergency protocols kicked in as pilots ejected, their survival suits automatically activating beacons to signal their positions.

Thankfully, the USS Tribute remained at a safe distance, providing vital support. With shields lowered at carefully calculated intervals, the Tribute’s transporters locked onto the pilots’ signals and beamed them aboard. The Tribute’s crew worked with precision and urgency, saving lives while the battle raged on around them.

IRIS watched as the alien fighters, or whatever they were, flashed as red dots on her HUD display. Her grip tightened on the controls and she fired her engines as she tagetted on a enemy and fired. She flipped and spiriled, arching up and then out towards another one. =/\=Delta 1 to Delta squad. Evasive maneuvers, scatter pattern 9. Lute them off the ship’s. Fire at will.=/\=

Mar. Capt. sh’Rharror, Delta SQLD

Hannibal’s voice came through the comms to all the wing leaders. =/\= Delta, drag them to the tertiary rendezvous point! Bravo, target thee stragglers and take them out! Charlie, fall back and provide cover to the fleet. Alpha, on me! =/\= and he punched his controls and shot towards the largest cluster of fighters.

Lardel, CAG

IRIS hated this part. She was Delta leader, but she was part of Hannibal’s Alpha squad. She keyed the display to mark her squad as purple as her fighter fell into formation just behind and to the right of Lardel. Her fighter shot forward, phasers locked in and firing on her first target.

Charlie Squad quickly adjusted their priorities, falling in to guard the Picketts’ shuttles as they made their way toward the USS Tribute. The urgency of protecting the survivors overrode other objectives, and the squad maintained a tight formation to shield the vulnerable shuttles.

Meanwhile, Delta Squadron was under relentless pressure. Their mission was to drag a swarm of 35 leeches to the tertiary rendezvous point, as ordered by Lardel. The corrupted fighters’ ruthless tactics were taking a heavy toll on Delta, with their numbers dwindling under the onslaught.

Bravo Squad moved decisively to support, targeting the stragglers from the leech swarm. Their precision strikes helped create breathing room for Delta, allowing them to maintain the baiting maneuver despite the overwhelming odds.

As the battle raged, a new threat emerged: a reinforcement wave of 35 more leeches barreling into the fray. These fresh enemies headed straight for Alpha Squad. With the incoming wave closing fast, Alpha’s NE pilots braced themselves for the challenge.

Under Lardel’s lead, Alpha Squadron dove headfirst into the chaotic melee. The reinforcement wave was no less relentless than the first, swarming with hive-like coordination and overwhelming numbers. But Alpha’s pilots fought back with precision and ferocity, using every ounce of skill and teamwork to meet the oncoming tide.

This was no ordinary battle—it was a desperate fight to protect the fleet, hold the line, and prevent the corrupted forces from gaining any further ground. The stakes were high, and Alpha Squadron was determined not to falter.

=/\= “Charlie in tight on those shuttles, Charlie three and four focus on any inbound. =/\=. M’alek ordered, =/\=”Pickett Shuttles, we got you just keep moving toward your destination as best as you can” =/\= he said checking his sensors scanning for enemy fighters.

Pilot, Air Group

A crackling comm call suddenly came through the fighter pilots’ headsets, cutting sharply through the chaos of battle.

=^= “Fighters, full recall! Get back to the Chimera immediately. We are getting the hell out of here!” =^=

Lieutenant Threen’s voice carried a tone of urgency that left no room for debate. The Assistant Chief of Security’s order was clear—the situation had turned critical.

The Dominion Leech fighters, previously relentless in their pursuit, seemed to shift tactics. At first, they pressed the advantage, darting aggressively around the retreating Starfleet fighters. But almost as quickly as they had surged forward, they veered away, heading back toward their own fleet.

A grim realization began to settle among the retreating pilots as they watched the Dominion ships cluster around their grotesque mothership. A massive tendril of biomatter extended from the monstrosity, latching onto a nearby Dominion battlecruiser. The fighters that had paused to observe reported in disbelief as the tendril engulfed the warship.

“It’s… eating it,” one pilot muttered, his voice shaky over the comms.

The monstrous vessel appeared to be repairing itself, the gaping hull damage inflicted earlier—when the Y’Tang had been hurled into it—visibly knitting together as the battlecruiser was consumed.

In the chaos, it became clear to the retreating forces that whatever this entity was, it had decided to turn its attention inward, prioritizing its own survival. For now, it seemed, the Chimera and her escort ships were being spared, though the pilots knew better than to linger.

As the fighters banked hard to return to their carriers, the enormity of what they had witnessed hung heavy in the air. The Chimera was retreating not out of victory, but because they had been granted a momentary reprieve by a force beyond comprehension.
