Freja sipped her coffee as she observed the wait staff set up for a post-mission unwind party. She had tried to include a variety of different cuisines. Some of the food would be available in the crew lounge for the rest of the crew whilst she expected most of the senior staff and the more senior members of the departments would likely put in an appearance here. She’d even included an invite for anyone wanting to share a dish from their homeworld if they so desired.

She’d arranged for a few Kvæfjord cakes to be included. Whilst she was indeed mostly Betazoid, her grandfather had introduced her to some of his favorite Norwegian style foods and she was rather fond of the sponge cake with almonds, meringue and vanilla.

Some of her former commanders often tried to go overboard with the party themes, even the head waiter here tried to convince her to define the theme a bit more, but she found something casual was more successful in building a continuing rapport between everyone on the ship. Food was important though, food often spurred conversation more times than not.

She’d sent the invites out after receiving her debrief from command and figured while they waited on new orders they could unwind a little while the ship headed back to the spaceport.

Scott nervously approached the CO. He had seen notice of the party and he had hoped that he might be able to join - despite the fact that he hadn’t been apart of the away team. This was Scott trying to act on the Counselor’s advice - to try and get to know the crew a little.
He quietly cleared his throat, as if prompting himself to talk. “Pardon me for bothering you, Captain. But I was wondering if I might join the party? I know I wasn’t on the away team or anything… but I thought this might be a good opportunity to meet the crew… erm, if that’s okay with you?”
Despite his best intentions, Scott still sounded painfully shy. He was already half wincing internally, preparing himself if the Captain said no.
“I’ve… I even brought some food” He tried to sound positive, clutching a tray behind his back. But much to nobody’s surprise, he still sounded nervous.

Ensign Scott Gallahan (Security)

“Absolutely Ensign, join the fun,” Freja gestured with a warm smile, “Not sure who else will be popping in, but I wanted to include as many officers as possible as it gives us a chance to get to know everyone. It’s easier to work together in crisis if we already have a rapport.”

~Freja Andreassen~

“Very true. Thank you, Ma’am” Scott said, relieved the Captain had said yes. He placed the carefully covered tray he had brought with him on the table and he sat down.

“Ah…” He said after sitting for a few moments. “I should probably unwrap these” he laughed nervously as he stood and uncovered the tray he’d brought. He removed the cover to reveal a tray of Cherry Bakewell Tarts. These were - in his humble opinion - the finest confectionery.
“I thought I’d bring these…” He started explaining as he sat back down again “… because if ever my Grandma went around to anybody’s house she would always bake some and take a plate of these with her.”

Ensign Scott Gallahan (Security)

“Grandmother’s and their sweets,” Freja smiled, “My grandmother’s the same, she got me hooked on both Betazoid and Norwegian desserts growing up.”

The door opened and in walked a woman with fiery red hair, that was braided up into an elegant bun. Though she herself was dressed in a casual attire instead of her uniform. Her ensemble consisted of sapphire colored wrap secured with a satin sash, and light gray leggings and a snow white lab coat, embroidered with her name. She approached the CO and Ensign, a smile on her lips as she bowed to them slightly. “Good evening, Captain, Ensign. I hope you both are well this evening?” She asked lightly. her dark black eyes shifted between each of their faces.

“I’m doing well, thank you Doctor, I hope you’re settling in well,” Freja smiled.

~Freja Andreassen~

Kevasi nodded, her smile brightened. “Things have went exceedingly well. Supprisingly I believe some of the Marines and I have hit it off quite well. I’ve finished sorting the records… so everything is in order. It wasn’t as bad as I had feared.”

Lunan stepped across the threshold into the Observation Lounge and gave a curt nod to some of the staff around him, before crossing to the Captain, “Hope I’m not too late? Fashionably so was what I was aiming for.”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

Kevasi gave a nod to the XO, “Commander.” She spoke with pleantness, though she didnt comment further, letting the Captain deside on his degree of lateness, if any.

“Not at all Commander,” Freja nodded to her XO, “Help yourself to the treat table, I’m sure some more people will filter in, I did hope for something a bit more casual so people could come and go as they please.”

~Freja Andreassen~

“I hope you don’t mind,” Lunan said, reaching inside the jacket of his uniform, “But I managed to procure this from a personal cache of my things left behind on Bajor before my transfer to the Chimera, let it be said that even scientists can enjoy the finer things in life, every now and again.” He placed a small aubern coloured bottle on to the table, some may have recognised it as Bajoran Spring Wine.

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

“We’ll put it to good use,” Freja nodded, “Well, settle in, grab a seat if you prefer, I expect this gathering will have ebbs and flows as people’s duties allow. I find it’s better to mingle in downtime a little bit as it makes it easier for us to work together in the heavier mission stress times.”

~Freja Andreassen~

Scott hoped he would have the opportunity to try some of the auburn liquid. He didn’t know what it was exactly. But he was quiet taken with the colour of it. As the party progressed perhaps later on Scott would pluck up the courage to ask to try some. For now though, he was content taking in what was going on and greeting people as they arrived.

Ensign Scott Gallahan (Security)

Lunan caught sight of Gallahan looking at the bottle, grinned and tapped him on the shoulder, “Ensign, providing you’re not on early shift tomorrow, we could share a glass between colleagues?”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

“That would be wonderful!” Gallahan smiled. He wasn’t much of drinker. There was no particular reason why, it was just never something he had done much. Apparently it could be good for the nerves. This was something Scott hope would prove true.

Kevasi raised an eyebrow and chuckled softly. Her smile still in place. She gave small bows to those gathered around before she wandered off to the food table. She obtained small bits of everything that was there, to test and broaden her food horizons.

T’Rea wandered into the observation lounge, apparently just walking around the ship and not 100% aware of where she was going, given her smile and the fact she once again just stood right inside the door taking the room in. This was usually what happened when she walked into a room she hadn’t been in before, especially in a ship she hadn’t been ON before.

After about 45 seconds, she appeared to gather her thoughts before asking, “Wow, it looks like you’re having a party in here! Am I welcome?”

Lieutenant T’Rea (CSO)

“Of course, join us,” Freja waved the Lieutenant over, “You must be my new CSO, welcome to the Chimera, I’m Captain Freja Andreassen and you’re just in time for my informal rapport building exercise of us just chilling in the lounge.”

~Freja Andreassen~

She walked over with a smile on her face. “That I am, Captain. T’Rea’s my name. And I’m glad I made it!” She said, chuckling a little at herself. “This is quite the ship! Glad I got the position.”

Lieutenant T’Rea (CSO)

“We’re happy to have you,” Freja smiled.

~Freja Andreassen~

“Welcome aboard, I’m something of a scientist myself, I’d love to hear about some of your experiments.” Lunan tried to keep an eye on Gallahan as he continued to sip the offered drink, while at the same time trying to warmly welcome the new CSO.
