NE C. Fodder entered the flight deck with a PaDD in hand.

“Lieutenant Javal? Or Doctor Javal?” He fumbled a bit over his words, overthinking what the new CMO might prefer to be called by, nobody had given him a handbook on this, “I’m NE Fodder, Captain Andreassen has charged me with seeing you getting settled on the Chimera. I can take you to your quarters if you like or a tour of the ship or we can go straight to sickbay or you can meet with the Captain right away. The choice is yours.”

Javal waited patiently for the young NE to finish his introductions. Although he now outranked Fodder, Javal was reminded of the fact that, not too long ago, he was a Cadet on the Challenger, who likely would have been in the same position that the NE found himself in now.

“I would take the tour option, as first hand experience in surveying new environs is preferable to second-hand technical manuals…” the Vulcan said, taking a quick glance around the busy flight deck.

“…and as for your first query Mr. Fodder,” he said, looking back at his nervous young guide, “You may address me as Doctor if it is your preference. It is, above all other considerations, my primary vocation,” he said in a simple manner. It seemed that, in other words, Javal wasn’t one to stand all too much on Starfleet-regulation ceremony, a peculiarity easily masked by his otherwise typically rigid Vulcan discipline.

“Right, well let’s get started, do you have anywhere specific you’d like to see first sir?” Fodder asked, looking a bit more relieved he hadn’t put his foot in it while talking to the new CMO.

“Perhaps it would be most prudent that we begin with a survey of the ship’s scientific and medical capabilities. A tour of the lab facilities and Main Sickbay should suffice for the present,” the doctor replied, hoisting his bag over his shoulder.

“Of course,” Fodder nodded, “If you like I can either arrange for your bag to be transported to your quarters or we can swing by there on our way to the main sickbay?”

Javal nodded at the NE’s suggestion.

“Thank you, Mr. Fodder. I am amenable to carrying my own belongings to my quarters as I believe it should be located on the same deck as Alpha Sickbay, if my recollections of the Chimera’s technical readouts are accurate.”

He may have done basically nothing but find out everything he could on the Chimera in the time afforded to him on his shuttle ride over, but it was never logical to assume anything…

OOC: I am so sorry, I read this and then had to take a phone call and then promptly forgot to come back to it. We can continue with this thread if you like or let it drop if you’d rather focus on the away team portion of the mission. :)

“Yes, that’s right sir, your quarters are close to Alpha Sickbay,” Fodder nodded, “Follow me,” he guided the doctor to the nearest turbolift requesting the required deck.

Javal lifted his bag over his shoulder with relative ease thanks to his Vulcan physique, and followed close behind the NE.

“Have you been on board a Mjolnir-class ship before?”

OOC: No worries! Everyone has been busy lately so I don’t blame you. I would like to continue with this thread if it’s ok with you?

IC:

“Negative. In fact, I was not familiar with the Mjolnir-class of vessel until I had received my assignment to the Chimera,” Javal said in reply to NE Fodder’s query. “However, I can say that I have since become much more acquainted with the class, as my studies of the ship’s specifications and my presence here can attest.”

“Of course,” Fodder chattered as the turbolift deposited them onto deck 3, “Alpha Sickbay is right through these doors here, your office is just off the main treatment area and your quarters are down the hall. Your quarters first or do you just want to head into sickbay?”
