OCC. okay you don’t have to RP this if you don’t want to. I was just trying something past the boring meeting or conference. I am going to set up a scene just to get it started. If you don’t like it please erase what I said about what you were doing and create your own setting. I will role with it. I am doing these all simultaneously so that people have a chance to post if they want to. I also went into your bio and pulled the stuff paraphrasing it. I wanted it to seem like Perkins knew of it but allow you to elaborate. If I got anything wrong we can just lead me where you need it to go.~Kate.

Admiral Perkins surveyed the room. Kelly’s crew seemed distinctly loyal but there was always one. One officer that could be tempted to see the benefits of a casual relationship and the perks random updates could bring. Information was always more powerful than weapons. As he surveyed the room Perkins debates where to start. He had the dossiers on everyone. Now it was time to play on the cracks in their armor. Power was all about promises and Perkins was all about promises.

Looking around the room, Perkins noticed a lot of muscle. He doubted the term would appeal to River, Mardusk, or Dan but it was accurate. Security and Marines were typically two things. The first was usually just human tanks, extremely useful in a fight but sat around after just collecting dust until they were needed again. The second purpose they served were as knives that could deal a death blow in a single strike. Vlader was very interesting. Perkins read his file. Dan served for five years with the marines before being catastrophically injured in battle. After a long medical struggle he negotiated to be retained into service, assuring his superiors he was fit to serve. Until recently he had been a marine but for some reason Kelly had now placed him in the security field. It could be an angle to explore as to why the change occurred.

“Lt. Vlader,” Perkins said moving over to shake the man’s hand. “It is an honor to meet you. I heard about your heroism in the battle. You are what makes Starfleet what it is. Marines and Security are the back bone of the service. You can have all the talking heads in the world making policy and all the scientists preening about their discoveries but without you to pull them out of the trouble they get in or protect them when they are too focused on something else Starfleet would still be just a dream.”

Perkins

Dan extended a cybernetic hand to meet Perkins’. The rank of an Admiral and the mindset of a Cadet. Lovely. “Sir. Like any officer, I go where I’m needed and do what needs to be done.”

“Humble too. That is what is expected from an officer. So I heard you jumped divisions. Went from a marine to a security officer. Was that by choice or did your captain have something to do with that,” Perkins began to dabble into the pond of Kelly’s command. He needed to gauge the like or hopefully dislike of the Captain. The blonde shrew had to have made some enemies on the ship by now. She had been in command for two years now. Even if this Vladar liked her, there was a good chance he might drop a hint as to who was a dissenter in the crew. Maybe that was why he transferred out of the marine division. The security division of Starfleet was a tight lot. You either survived with them or transferred out.

Perkins

“Captain Bordeaux approved the transfer. She was not involved in the decision making process. Sir. What is your particular interest in my transfer? To my knowledge, it was a fairly standard end to a Marine career and entry into Starfleet.”

-Dan Vladar

“Just making sure that is what you wanted. I mean there is nothing wrong at all with the security forces but she does have a marine contingent. A well placed word here and a favor there and you could be without a marine captain,” he took a sip of his drink. “With all your credentials you could be the commanding officer of the marine continent here if you hadn’t transferred over. A man with your expertise and experience would be a shoe in for that role …if you had wanted it or still want it,” Perkins let his voice trail off.

He had read the reports and Lt Styxx was in command of that but right now was a time to separate and conquer. To the victor went the spoils. Whoever bit first or hardest would get the prize. Perkins was glad the glass hid most of his expression. He wasn’t sure what he was happiest about. Seeing someone on Kleey’s crew turn against her or how fast they turned on each other. Let the games begin, he thought to himself waited for Clader to reply.

Perkins

Dan tensed up and his full height and musculature became evident. “To sidestep Lt Styx’ command is out of the question. She earned her rank and command. I will do nothing to sabotage it.”

-Dan Vladar
