Dan grew up with his father often away on Marine Corps assignments. At age 15, his father was KIA. Dan spent the next two years training to become a Federation Marine. And that he did. He served for five years with the marines before being catastrophically injured in battle. After a long medical struggle he returned to service. One year passed before he was due to be discharged, but he negotiated to be retained into service, assuring his superiors he was fit to serve.

During a battle with anti-federation terrorists, Vladar was caught within the detonation radius of a grenade.

Diagnosed with PTSD after the battle that injured him. Refuses treatment or therapy.

2395: Assigned to USS Atlantis
2395: Transferred to Starfleet aboard USS Atlantis in Security Department with the rank of Ensign
