<snip>Quickly he checked her vitals on the bio bed readouts then pulled his tricorder out and began scanning the limb. “Still with me ?” He asked without looking up from his readouts.
Ooc: readouts and other fun details? :p
Ryley
MDM’Lene was a little out of it but nodded slowly and grinned. “Yep…still here…” she murmured. “My arm feels kind of weird though…” she added as she poked at the fingers on her hand which had gone completely numb.
“Yeah breaking bones in it tends to do that .” He said.
The read outs showed that her blood pressure and pulse rate had gone through the roof although were coming down since the medication had taken effect. Her arm was badly broken in several places with a couple of free floating splinters off the bone. The most urgent issue was a dislocated elbow which was currently pressing on the nerves and blood supply, cutting off the feeling and circulation to her hand, without prompt action the damage could be permanent.

Having seen Ryley helping M’Lene to a boiled, Jessica made her way over to the two, keeping an eye on the biobed readouts. She had been about to fetch medication for the Caitan’s elevated blood pressure and pulse rate, but with whatever Ryley had administered thus far, she saw that they were slowly coming back down. Her eyes sympathetic, she placed a comforting hand on M’Lene, far away from the shattered arm and directed her attention to Ryley.
“How can I help, sir?”
Ryley looked up and shook his head, “just speak to her for a second.”
M’Lene instinctively reached for Jessica’s hand, she wasn’t sure what the doc was about to do but she had a feeling it wasn’t going to be pleasant and she was glad of the support. “Does it look bad doc?” She asked nervously.
Lt (jg) M’Lene (CSO)
Jessica wrapped her hand around the Caitan’s and used her thumb to stroke it comfortingly as she jostled Ryley slightly to peer at the tricorder readouts.
He sighed with a frown as though she were a pest but turned his tricorder towards her. There’re were three in built screens in Ryley’s personal tricorder, on showing something from a couple of different scans in a faster speed than standard and apparently cataloguing each scan. The bio bed readouts were displayed on the second and seemed to be updating as the bio bed changed. The third showed a small rotating scan of the join and the displacement.
“Well, you’ve certainly done a number on yourself, Lieutenant,” she said with a smile. “We’ll try to have you fixed up in no time at all and then you can get back to your usual antics. I arrived a bit late to the party… what exactly did you do to cause this?” Jessica hoped to keep the CSO talking a bit to both monitor her well-being as well as distract her from whatever Ryley was going to do next. And sure, she was also a little nosy and wanted to know what the heck had happened to lead to quite a bit of damage.

Ryley was gently probing the elbow and checking the capillary refill on the scientists fingers. He then pressed his index and middle finger to the base of her wrist. He watched her as he continued to manually examine the arm and test for sensation.
M’Lene sighed, still not entirely sure what had happened herself. “I was doing some gymnastics practice and I think I had a brain freeze during a triple twist. I got disorientated and opened out or twisted the wrong way I think…” she shuddered as she recalled the accident. “I remember seeing the mat approaching fast and I figured it was better to put my hand out than land on my face…I’m not so sure now…” she added quietly as the numbness began to creep further up her arm. She absent mindedly touched her cheek that had also collided with the mat after she’d landed on her arm. She gasped and winced as she did so, clenching her jaw. She hadn’t really noticed anything other than the intense pain in her arm but now that had eased off a bit from the medication she was starting to notice some more aches and pains. She got the impression she was going to be sore for a few days after they fixed her up.

Finished his exam Ryley loaded another hypo and held it up to the light. “Ok Kitty Kat. So the bad news is your arms broken and your elbows dislocated and the bad bad news is that it’s pressing on the nerve and decreasing blood flow to your hand.” He paused looking ponderous, “I guess the bad bad bad news is that unless I fix it, like, now. That damage is going to be permanent. The bad bad bad bad news is I’m going to do a closed reduction and that’s going to hurt like hell.”
He pressed the hypo to her neck. “The very very good news is you’re going to be so off your face in about three seconds you’ll not care about anything I just said till after the reduction.” He released the large dose into her system and removed the hypospray. “Welcome to conscious sedation. Population you.”
The greying older doctor gave a minute or so for the drugs to take effect then carefully began to manipulate the elbow back in place by pulling down on M’Lene’s wrist. “Ok....” He said watching her and flashing a warning glance at Jess. “Ready....one three....one.....two…” He went on two levering her elbow back into place with a loud pop sound.
