Without entirely waiting for a response, Jessica turned her attention to the Caitian on the biobed and smiled in a friendly manner despite her boss’ surly attitude. “Good afternoon, I’m Doctor Lemann. You’re here for your boarding physical, I assume?”

M’Lene smiled at the young woman and nodded. “Indeed I am,” she grinned as she yawned again. “So is your boss grumpy with everyone or is he just more of a dog person?” she asked as she smoothed her whiskers.

“He’s just special,” Jessica replied easily with a smirk at her boss. She popped open the tricorder and started initiating the appropriate scans. “Do you have any complaints that you would like to address today?”

Ensign Lemann

M’Lene shook her head. “Nothing to report, thought I had a bit of a cough yesterday but it turned out to just be a fur ball. Other than that, nothing new…”

Jessica smiled and responded, “well, be sure to come back if it becomes anything more.”

“He’s more of a giant tarantula or python person.” Ryley said as he leaned back onto the biobed he sat on and interlocked his fingers behind his head. “And totes yeah he’s special. He’s like super amazing just call me Super Doc.”

The biobed automatically came to life over Ryley’s head but seemed to register he was in a a stage 4 coma. He put his hand in the air, “I have a complaint, what’s with the whole grumpy Cat routine. I mean did you actually miss a nap, do you not love your new assignment or do you just hate Monday’s?”

M’Lene sighed as she hopped down off the biobed and wandered over towards Ryley. She had a quick stretch and hopped up on the end of his biobed. “Hard to say, I did miss my nap but I guess I’m just a bit wary of meeting new people. I do apologise if I was rude…” she added a little sheepishly as she rubbed her head against Ryley’s knee as a sign of friendship.

Jessica snickered as she listened to the exchange between M’Lene and Ryley. If she’d had something to drink, she would have spit it out when M’Lene rubbed her head against him… she watched with careful amusement to see his response.

As the woman hopped up onto the biobed Ryley stiffened momentarily as though the close approximation bothered him then relaxed, then the apology followed by her rubbing against his knee. He raised an eyebrow a slight smirk twitching at the corners of his mouth. “Ohhhh Oh no no no no no.” he said amusement clear in his tone, he raised a hand and gave her a scratch “You’re not gonna win me over that easily.Sorry Kitty-Kat, I don’t play that way.” He used the same hand to give her a gentle push off of him and standing limped off into the bowls of sickbay without a backwards glance at either woman.

M’Lene landed gracefully on the floor and smoothed her fur down with a wry smile. There had definitely been a smirk on Ryley’s face before he left and M’Lene was definitely warming to him. She took a quick peek at his posterior as he limped away and grinned before turning back to Jessica. “Sorry doctor, where were we?” She asked as she hopped back on the biobed.

“Well, unless you have thought of anything you’d like to discuss, it looks like you’re in good health and ready for duty, Lieutenant,” Jessica responded, trying desperately to keep a straight face but failing miserably at the same time. “We’re always here if that changes, although perhaps you might want to avoid Doctor Ryley.”

M’Lene chuckled and shook her head. “Nope, nothing else to discuss but I certainly won’t be avoiding sickbay…” she added as she peered in the direction Ryley went to see if she could sneak another peak. “…single is he?” she asked as she absent mindedly stroked the fur on the back of her neck. It wasn’t often she found someone worthy of playing cat and mouse with.

“I imagine so,” Jessica responded with a laugh. “It sounds like I’ll see you around then, Lieutenant.” She walked away then, leaving M’Lene to her thoughts as she shook her head with more giggles. What a strange first day.

M’Lene yawned, baring her teeth and had a quick stretch. “Indeed you will Ensign, I certainly won’t be a stranger…” she added. It seemed the game of cat and mouse was over for today but there was always tomorrow. M’Lene chuckled and strode out the door, she got the feeling she was going to like it on this ship.
