<snip>Outside, Nash simply chose a direction at random and began to walk while he ran his hand through his dark blond hair. He was keenly aware of her touch and how her hand fit inside his, the softness of her skin as his fingers lay against hers. “So, you’re on a beach with the waves rolling in, wind warm and the day has been perfect so far. What do you have for dinner? Are you a seafood kind of girl or would burgers be in the basket?” Nash grinned at her as he asked, and took a random left turn that came up.

Nash didn’t need to even finish the description of the beach before Jessica had a happy, relaxed smile with a touch of wistfulness on her face. Her thumb absentmindedly rubbed against Nash’s hand as she pondered the question presented to her, although the answer wasn’t all that difficult. “Burgers, a beer, and French fries” she responded with a grin. “Remember, I grew up with brothers and they weren’t much into anything that didn’t moo.” She let Nash led her through the corridors, wondering what had gotten into her. Passive wasn’t a characteristic that she commonly thought of regarding herself.

Another turn and a long sweeping corridor led the two of them through the halls of the Atlantis while they talked and walked, around them the lights and sounds of the ship low as the evening shift took their place. “Good choice,” he smiled as a pair of doors ahead of them came into sight. “I always did prefer a more meaty picnic than seafood, and beer. Nothing beats watching the waves like a good beer with good company.” His smile turned into a grin as he brought them to a stop at the doors.
The plaque in front of them read ‘holosuite’, and the display showed that it was vacant. Turning to Jessica, Nash leaned against the wall and raised her hand slightly, his other hand now tracing a soft line with his fingers from her thumb to her forearm. “How about I show you a program first, and then next time we are out, you show me that program you have?” He spoke gently, his ice blue eyes searching hers as he asked the question. “I think you might like this one, we can carry on our walk somewhere with a better atmosphere than cold walls and carpet.”

Jessica giggled as she realized their destination. She didn’t know enough about the ship to have known where Nash was leading her and she hadn’t particularly been paying attention, either. “It’s a deal,” she responded with a smile, nothing that Nash’s words meant that there would be a next time and this wasn’t a one time deal of a man looking for company for a few hours. She filed this information away with another smile to herself.
“But hopefully it involves a steak at the end of the walk,” she added. “Talking about food has made me hungry and that alcohol drink as an appetizer just isn’t doing the trick.” She said the last part with a playful wink.
