The ships proximity alarm sounded as a huge wave of an unknown energy surged towards the Atlantis. In Sickbay, the atmosphere was tense as medical personnel braced for the impending impact. Patients lay on biobeds, their vital signs monitored with heightened vigilance Nurses worked quickly to strap them in. Suddenly, the wave struck, causing the entire room to lurch violently. Medical equipment rattled on its shelves, and overhead lights flickered ominously. Nurses and doctors struggled to maintain their footing as they rushed to stabilize their patients amidst the chaos.

USS AtlantisElla burst into sickbay with the urgency of a seasoned warrior on a critical mission. Clasped tightly under her arm was a fellow Operations officer, his face etched with pain. “Medical emergency!” she exclaimed, her voice resonating with urgency. “He was in Cargo Bay One when a crate of isolinear rods toppled onto him. There’s one impaled through his leg, the blood loss is significant,” she continued, her words tumbling out amidst the chaos. Despite her own injuries—a darkened eye and a throbbing concussion—Ella’s focus remained steadfast on ensuring the swift and decisive treatment of her comrade.

USS AtlantisWithout the MO present (she’s on the bridge), her assistant was there to receive them. “Can I get some help over here, please?” Two burly nurses appeared and relieved Lokaa of her burden, taking him to a bed and laying him down. Dr Beaujay began to assess the damage. “I need forceps, a tissue regenerator, hypo spray and anesthizine to start off…” He would tend to the wounded man. Dr Brinker or one of the others could fix up the Warrant Officer.
—Talisse, MO
The handful of nurses present, armed with flashlights, hurriedly placed them around Sickbay to illuminate the area. Now, against the walls, stark shadows danced and bounced as more patients arrived, adding to the chaos. Responding to Talisse’s urgent orders, a young Orion nurse fumbled with a tray of medical instruments, including forceps, a tissue regenerator, a hypospray, and anesthetizing agents.

USS AtlantisSeeing the young nurse’s distress, Ella placed a calming hand on top of hers. “It’s okay, we’ve trained for situations like this. Let me take over for a moment, and you can catch your breath. There are plenty more patients to take care of,” she said reassuringly, offering a warm smile as she gently slipped the tray from the nurse’s hands. With purpose, she carried the tray to the Medical Officer. “Here,” she said, her voice steady despite the chaos around them.

USS Atlantis“Thank you.” Beaujay replied as he took the tray of instruments. He turned back to the injured man. “It’s going to be alright. I’m going to give you something that will make you sleep while I heal that leg of yours. That way there will be no pain.” While he explained, he loaded the hypo spray after checking the vial. After a quick injection, the operations officer relaxed and fell unconscious. The doctor went to work and removed the isolinear rod in his leg and set the tissue regenerator to rebuild the destroyed muscle and tissue. Then he walked over to Lokaa. “Have a seat up here and let me get a look at that eye, please.”

Ella nodded with a sense of relief, knowing that her patient had been tended to. She understood all too well the importance of self-care; after all, she couldn’t effectively care for others if she neglected her own well-being. Settling into a nearby seat, she directed her attention to the doctor, her curiosity piqued. “Do you have any information on what happened?” she inquired, her voice tinged with a hint of concern. In the confined quarters of a starship, rumors had a way of spreading like wildfire, and Ella was eager to glean any insights from those in the know.

USS AtlantisThe Atlantis groaned and shuddered as if being gripped by an invisible force, its metal frame creaking and protesting under the strain. In the tense silence that ensued, the crew exchanged uneasy glances, their senses on high alert. The dim emergency lighting cast eerie shadows across the bridge, heightening the sense of foreboding that hung heavy in the air. With each groan and shudder of the ship, the feeling of unease intensified, as if the very fabric of reality itself were being warped.
As the mysterious force continued to press against the Atlantis, its systems flickered and faltered before settling again. But the silence was shattered by the unmistakable sound of metal scraping against metal, emanating from the outer edge of the ship’s hull. Whatever was out there, whatever unseen entity was attaching itself to their vessel.

USS AtlantisMuch like Sickbay it had seen its peak casualty influx, with casualties being split between here and the lounge of 17 and 18 forward neither location was particularly crammed, though there were some walking wounded hanging about the corridor with the odd broken limb. Ella having been treated and helped several crew members had decided to vacate and give her space for someone else in need. Several injured crew members:
