The ships proximity alarm sounded as a huge wave of an unknown energy surged towards the Atlantis.

In Engineering, the crew worked feverishly to keep the ship’s systems online in the face of the impending wave. Engineers shouted information back and forth, directing technicians to reinforce critical components and activate emergency protocols. As the energy wave crashed into the ship, the entire room shuddered with the impact. Consoles sparked and sputtered, and alarms blared as systems strained to withstand the onslaught.

Engineers dashed around the darkness of the main engineering already armed with tools and torches, among them was Jaxon. “Check the Anti-Matter fail safes,” he barked out, his voice cutting through the chaos. “We can’t afford any deactivations. Try rerouting the tertiary command prompts through the shield matrix; they traverse the ship’s systems and might just provide the power surge we need to kickstart the generators to turn the lights on.” Frantically scanning the area for the chief engineer, he pressed on despite a large gash on his face, blood tracing a crimson path down his cheek. Yet, his singular determination remained fixed on one crucial task: securing the warp core..

The ship groaned and creaked ominously, its life support systems offline and the integrity forcefields failed. Reduced to little more than a giant tin can adrift in the void, the vessel faced pressures from every direction, threatening to crush it from the outside in. With only 45 minutes of breathable air remaining, the crew teetered on the brink of disaster. If the lack of oxygen didn’t claim them first, the relentless forces bearing down on the ship would surely spell their doom within the next twenty minutes.

Jason stood amidst the chaos of the shuttle bay, the once orderly space now transformed into a scene reminiscent of a Borg cube. Cables snaked haphazardly across the floor, weaving a tangled web around the butchered remains of shuttlecraft that engineers had dismantled in a desperate bid to jerry-rig a makeshift power source.

With sweat beading on his brow, Jason worked tirelessly to coordinate the intricate connections, ensuring that each shuttlecraft contributed its share of power to sustain the ship’s critical systems. The hum of activity filled the air as engineers scurried about, their movements fueled by a sense of urgency and determination.

As the last connection was secured, Jason’s gaze swept across the makeshift power grid, a testament to the ingenuity and resourcefulness of the crew in the face of adversity. But there was no time to dwell on their accomplishments—emergency lights bathed the bay in a dim glow, a stark reminder of the dire situation they faced.

=^=Bridge, this is engineering… Bridge, come in,=^= Jason’s voice echoed through the bay, the urgency in his tone cutting through the chaos. =^=Is this thing working?=^= he pressed, his heart pounding with anticipation as he awaited a response from the bridge. In the tense silence that followed, Jason braced himself for the outcome, knowing that their survival depended on the success of their makeshift power source and the resilience of their crew.

OOC: NIce post!
IC:
After a while the comms crackled and a general message came through from the XO .. =^= All hands. Report in through your comm units - name, location, injuries and whether you are mobile =^=
- Jen, XO

“Bridge, this is engineering, well Shuttle bay the new main power generator, oh and uh Lieutenant Rennick” Jaxon’s voice crackled over the comm, his tone heavy with urgency. “We’ve got multiple injuries down here—bruises, cuts, even a couple of broken bones. But that’s not our biggest problem.”

Taking a breath, he continued, “We’re seriously low on power, Commander. We’ve managed to divert what we could to reestablish internal comms, life support, lighting, and we have limited handheld devices running, but that’s about it. Our makeshift power grid won’t last forever, and there’s no way of assessing the full extent of the damage until we can get proper scans.”

There was a pause as he awaited the commander’s response, his words hanging in the air with a weight that matched the gravity of their situation.

^= Engineering. Thank you. What is the status of the warp core? We have two impulse engines. What is their problem? We have ten Armadillos. Are any of them flight worthy to get out and take a look at the ship and give us eyes on her shape and what is around us? =^=

Jaxon considered as he looked about the shuttle bay, =^= We’re using the shuttles to power the ship, it would take an hour or so to undo the quick jerry rig we have done, its not pretty down here.=^= he scratched his head and looked around one more time, with a defeated sigh, =^=Would you like us to detatch one of the shuttles and begin making it space-worthy again? =^=

Lieutenant Junior Grade Jaxon Rennick
Engineering Officer
USS Atlantis

=^= Lt. Please confirm which Bay you are drawing power from the shuttles? Bay 2, 3 or 4? =^= Jen inquired. There were a lot of bays and a lot of shuttles and what wasn’t being used could be a resource.
- Jen, XO

=^= Two and Three Commander, bay four was a hell of a mess we have damage control teams having to use anti-grav lifts to shift the debris and shuttles, we’re lucky nobody was in there else they’d have been crushed.=^= There was a shout from the corridor entrance, an engineers words carried to Jaxon, =^= Wait a moment Commander, we’re…=^= The line was cut short.

“Theres something on the hull Jaxon” The engineer, a non-commissioned damage specialist ran across to where Jaxon was stood. “We cant tell what but whatever it is seems to be trying to attach to the hull?”

=^= Commander, I’m getting reports of something on the outer hull I haven’t dispatched anyone out there yet, do you know about it?=^=

Lieutenant Junior Grade Jaxon Rennick
Engineering Officer
USS Atlantis

=^= We don’t know. What location is this coming from? Deck? Section? =^= The tone was even but by the sound of it Jen was reverting to his marine days.
- Jen, XO

=^=Deck twenty-nine, between sections twelve and fourteen, large enough to be a small ship but were literally going of sounds at this point=^= Jaxons words were urgent as he coordinated the defence of the makeshift power supply grid.

Despite the ship’s sustained damage and loss of power, the makeshift generators rigged together by the engineering teams were holding their own. This allowed them to begin essential repairs on the main systems. With their progress, it wouldn’t be long until the ship could come off the proverbial life support and start functioning independently again though the commotion happening around them and outside the hull of the ship was still a growing concern, there had also been some injuries sustained by the team and though not immediate some medical attention would be helpful.

OOC: this is alot of mess. I’m going to try and hope in to see whats going on. Thanks for the help Mr Narwhal.

Kaden had just finished getting settled in and getting his phsycial and psyc eval taken care of after coming onto the ship. He finished up in his new quarters and headed to Engineering. He knew there was some power issues but was not fully involved and did not have an understanding of everything was going on. He then remembered based on a small conversation that he overheard, that the engineering team was actually in the shuttle bay and not in main engineering. He wanted to head down there and see where he could hope in to help out. He laid the last of his things down and then headed out of his quarters.

Based on his understanding of the ship, which he had learned prior to arriving on the Atlantis, he knew they were close together so he arrived at shuttlebay 2. He walked in and walked into what was best described as a mess. He knew he was looking for Lt Rennick. He then looked around the shuttlebay to see if he could see Rennick or not.

Lt. Buchanan
Chief Engineer

Jaxon felt a wave of relief wash over him as he saw Chief Engineer Buchanan stride into the chaotic shuttle bay, “Chief, thank god you’re here we had not heard anything and feared you was injured” Jaxon began, his voice a mix of urgency and relief. “We’ve managed to rig together a temporary power source using the shuttlecraft. It’s a patchwork solution, but it’s holding for now. We have internal comms, life support, lighting, and handheld devices online. However, we’re running dangerously low on power reserves, and this setup isn’t going to last forever.”

Jaxon took a deep breath, organizing his thoughts. “. It’s a bit of a Frankenstein’s monster down here—cables everywhere, connectors jury-rigged—but it’s keeping us afloat. The shuttle power cells are stable, but they weren’t designed to sustain a ship this size for long. We’ve prioritised critical systems, but we’re flying blind without external sensors, and we haven’t been able to get a complete damage assessment yet. I also don’t need to mention that something or someone is currently breaching the hull and a handful fo our team has gone to assist in any counter boarding activities until the Marines show up.
