USS Atlantis

Reality and Revelations

Around lunch time Revna walked into the early childhood education suite and laughed at the total mess. There was paint EVERYWHERE and from the looks of it most of it was ON Runa. The preschool children were sitting at the tables eating lunch. Revna took Runa’s chair and sat at the table with the children, while Runa pulled out cots and blankets, and stuffies. “MS WEVNA!” “Hello Kovak. How are you today?” He was such an eager child, about everything, learning, friends, adults, eating, sleeping, whatever he did, no matter what it was. “I met a weal piwate today!” Revna gave Kovak and the other early children her full attention as they told her all about meeting Cmdr Odinson.

Sitting by Runa’s desk with her, later with the children sleeping Revna gave her no end to a hard time. “Knock it off Revna. What? You left us alone on the holodeck.” Runa grinned, a perpetual smiled on her face all day. Not so unusual but it was the slightly dazed look that made Revna laugh. “And he told me to tell you ‘thank you’ from him too.” Revna took a bite of her food and then her drink. “I’m sure he did, especially since that bet ended resoundingly in his favor. So tell me Runa, what was it like actually loosing a bet?” Runa sipped at her water, quiet for a long time and didn’t speak until Revna prodded her. Runa blushed and sighed, “I’d loose to him again.” Revna laughed, which caused a coughing followed by wheezing. “Slow down Revna, you’re alright.” Revna raised her hand to ward off the sisterly mothering she was about to get. After several minutes she spoke. “Oh Runa that makes my heart happy. Listen,” she got very serious, Runa wasn’t going to like this, “I heard from Jameson, two weeks, it’s all been worked out. I’ve got a pilot and a shuttle. I’ll be going to Centurion for the surgery. I want you to stay here, I want you to see where…”

Runa sat up very tall and grabbed Revna’s hand. “You listen to me. I know what you’re about to say and the answer is no. If he’s that important he’ll still be here. Out of anyone else on this ship, D’Vash knows and even without last night he’d never ask me to stay when you’re going. So stop it. It’s all going to be fine.” The conversation continued back and forth for awhile before Revna left for a meeting that ended at Mike’s bar, and Runa started the last couple hours of her work day.
