Revna walked into Ten Forward with her sister. They were both wearing similar colored dresses, the top cream with an emerald green skirt, accented with golds and browns. The cut is slightly different from Runa’s but the colors are the same. The dresses accenting their hair and eyes. And why was she wearing similar clothes, like they were still children? Because Runa had insisted that they celebrate tonight. And Revna just couldn’t say no to her sister. Linking arms with Runa they walked over to the bar. Harry looked up and the absolutely dumb founded look on his face, made Revna laugh, and quickly stop when Runa poked her. “Stop, before you hurt yourself,” Runa scolded. Revna nodded and waved at Harry. “You order, whatever it is you think we’re supposed to have. I’ll get a table.” It wasn’t like they didn’t have the run of the place. Ten-forward was always quiet. Revna preferred it. She took a table near the windows. The empty stool didn’t go unnoticed. She shook her head and as she sat she scanned the stars, and shook her head. Sol was not in front of them, but behind them. She took a seat and glanced back over at her sister and felt a bit of pity for poor Harry.

Runa walked over to the bar, “There is a replicator file, Edman Harvest 1. Do you think you could get it for me?” It was exactly what Runa wanted to celebrate with. “I know Mike has some, but do you have any Viking’s Bloud?”

Harry listened but kept glancing from the woman in front of him to Revna. Identical twins? Harry looked back at Runa, “Of course I can get both, Ms?”

Runa chuckled, “Runa, just Runa.” She nodded back to Revna, “Revna’s my sister.” Runa unfortunately really loved to confuse people about being a twin. And Harry’s shock made her day. She intended to wait for the drinks and food.

“Well Ms Runa, it will take a moment, here’s your drinks. I’ve heard from Mike it causes problems. Do I need to call security?”

Runa laughed, “No, and I’m not sure who’s been drinking this stuff, but I assure you, we won’t cause problems.” Harry nodded, “I’ll bring the rest to the table.” Runa carried the two mugs to the table and sat down with Revna. She looked out the window as well. “Sol’s behind us, huh?” At her sister’s nod she sighed. “Is there a rear viewing deck?” After dinner maybe they could go look, just for a moment.

“I’m sure there is, somewhere. I haven’t really explored the ship that much. We can look and see after.” She took a sip of the mead and smiled a little sadly. “It’s not Da’s,” she said looking at Runa. Runa shook her head in agreement. Revna took another small sip anyway. The hops adding to the heady scent of the fermented honey, and the hibiscus added a quick bite to the flavor before the honey in the drink made it slide smoothly down the throat. “But it is the good stuff. I’m glad Harry could get a bottle of it. I think I may write to Da and beg him to send some.”

Runa took a sip of her own drink and savored the flavor and spice of this particular brand. “I would love to have a bottle of Da’s mead. Do you think he would or that we could even get it approved?” The idea of something from home made her smile.

Revna smiled at her sister’s quizzical expression. “Harry is the bartender. Shame on you for not asking. And I asked him if he could get a bottle to keep for me. I had to promise not to cause trouble. I haven’t met this Mike from the other bar, but apparently he has trouble when people drink it.”

She looked appropriately chastised except for her grin, “I’m sorry Revna. I’ll remember Harry’s name from now on.” And she would, because Runa was like that. Runa blushed with a grin. “Yes he warned me he would throw me out if I got out of hand.” She laughed at the memory. That was the night she met Oliver, he’d promised Mike he would keep an eye on her. That made her smile more.

Harry arrived with a tray with several things on it and Revna shook her head. “You promised a simple meal, Runa. What is this nonsense?” She smiled though. Runa had actually held back some.

Runa smiled, “This is dinner. Apple Molases bread, corn fritters, roasted lamb, watercress, cucumber, radishes, and blackberry jam. I promised simple.” Runa had picked things that their village grew on the island back home that would have been harvested by now. She felt that Revna needed a reminder of where she came from.

As he placed the dishes on the table, Harry looked from Revna to Runa and then asked Revna, “Does he know about this?” Revna actually laughed, and it hurt, but she couldn’t help it. “Yes, Harry. He’s met her in passing.” Harry nodded and went back to the bar. Revna was sure he would add this to the list of information he logged as a bartender. Everyone talked to the bartender eventually.

She watched Revna as she laughed and it made her happy, she hadn’t heard her laugh like that in awhile, but she also saw the strain there as well and reached over to squeeze her sister’s hand as the laugh ended far too soon. She listened to the conversation and tried to figure out who she had met in passing and then she realized who it was. “Oh tall dark and brooding? What did you say his name was?” Revna shook her head. Revna wasn’t one for keeping secrets, but since Runa was keeping one from her, she knew she wouldn’t get it from Revna. “Alright, let’s eat. We’ll negotiate secrets later.”
