: : : : : : : : Pierce was a dejected man and it showed all over his face but as Stark emerged from the turbolift Pierce’s normal pompous superior demeanour settled into something even more disturbing, madness.

: : : : : : : : The first salvo from the alien ship stripped a third of the Athena’s shields away. The energy signature of the weapon seemed to be equal parts plasma, photon and chroniton. It damaged not only physically but had the potential to disrupt the ships systems and cause powerful energy surges.

: : : : : : : : The Athena’s attack scored the other ship’s shield but did minimum damage to the shield integrity. Their shields were enhanced with chronitons as well giving a time phasing shift that caused the damage to be spread widely across the network almost as if it wasn’t quite in phase with the same reality and space that Athena was in.

The ship rocked again as another salvo scored a glancing blow as the Athena ducked under a blow that could have crippled them.

She was familiar with the method of communication through some of impromptu tactical training during the war, but it was the language that the morse code was communicating in that surprised her. And then when she got the messaged, she cursed in her native tongue., aware that everyone on the bridge would know that something was up.

: : : A couple years ago, she would not have trusted the sender. But Michail Reese had proven himself, and this alternate version was one she had a good instinct about. Others would not have the same confidence, but in this case, they only had to follow her orders and Koraia was pretty confident about her crew’s loyalty.

“But Captain, I was winning.” R’han deadpanned as he looked at the screen. They would be sitting ducks if there wasn’t a second part of this plan.
: : : They had to trust her and that was all there was to it. But she wasn’t done just yet. “Helm, aim us for a direct intercept with the other ship. Full impulse and shift the control to auto-navigation.” At this point she hadn’t even addressed Pierce.

: : Another salvo hit and the discharge blasted through the stricken ship. The Lady Athena was fighting for her life and now a plasma discharge shot through the ship’s pathways inexorably finding it’s way to engineering and the weakened power relays protecting the warp core. Athena seemed to groan in desperation as her heart was torn with need to save the precious lives she carried. It was just a matter of time before she gave her life in one last desperate attempt to disable the other ship at ramming speed. Other wise the Counterstrike ship would allow none to pass, escape pod or not…

“We’re abandoning Mr. Bennett. Take what you need.” R’han armed himself with a phaser and a tricorder, he would get a emergency kit on his way to an escape pod.

Jayden returned to his station, “I’ll see if I can get more power to the impulse engines. I can divert phaser and the holodeck systems to the secondary plasma manifolds of the impulse drive.” He said calmly, suddenly feeling focused. He knew what he he had to do. What his father would have wanted him to do. ” I can also open the fuel flow from the secondary tanks to the main deuterium tanks. It will get bumpy, and will overload the engines after certain amount of time, but at this point.” He said, his voice now robotic. “If you want, I can also set a power surge in the impulse reactors too. Should give us a good boost to a big bang.” Jayden suggested, but he started the modifications anything, not waiting for permission.
