The crewman Oliver had accosted, a young man from Geology named Peters, blinked slowly. He looked at the rapier, then the bowler hat, and finally the wild look in Oliver’s eyes. “You… you want a wizard?” Peters asked slowly, backing away. “Uh, look, Ensign… if you’re hearing ghosts and breaking your equipment, you really need to go see Lieutenant Kingston. Or Doctor Grey. Like, right now. Deck 11 and 12. Port side.”Oliver’s eyes lit up. “Aha! The informants! Of course! The Captain wouldn’t trust a simple engineer with the codes to fix this commbadge; he’s entrusted the secret repair protocols to the ship’s shamans and chirurgeons! A clever ruse to test my dedication! To the Saucer Section! Though, between you and me, my good man,” Oliver whispered loudly, leaning in, “I’d much prefer a sherry in the Glass Section. Cups and Saucers are for tea, after all.”
He tipped his bowler hat and strode off, leaving a bewildered Crewman Peters to tap his own commbadge and mutter, “Security? Yeah, you guys might want to send someone down here…”
The response puzzled him, “We already have a security officer in that area, name of Sterling, though his combadge has gone off line.”
As he travelled, Oliver recorded the news of his latest ‘case’
=^= Casefile 6202-01-16 The Case of the Psionic Inquisitor; Lead Investigator: Sterling, Oliver W. Sterling, Reporting =^=
=^= I have arrived at the lair of the ship’s Mind-Reader, Lieutenant Janna Kingston. My informant suggested she holds the key to the spiritual interference plaguing my communications. It is a test of mental fortitude! I must enter her sanctum, withstand her psychic probes, and convince her that my mind is a steel trap—impervious to fear, ghosts, or the crushing reality that I have been on board for two hours and have not yet been invited to dinner by the Captain. I shall employ the ‘Stoic Butler’ defense mechanism. She shall not crack me! =^=Oliver adjusted his cuffs and marched into the Counselling Suite on Deck 11. He stood in the waiting area and advised “I am Oliver W Sterling, Security, here to be interrogated and mentally probed by your Counsellor Janna Kingston.”
A blond Risian looked up from the half-moon shaped desk and tried not to frown as she parsed his statement and took in his appearance. That was new. “Welcome, Ensign. Dr. Kingston is just finishing up an appointment, but if you have a seat”-she gestured to the few chairs along the wall by the door-“I think she can fit you in.”
“A question, though, before I test my wits against her powers, do you not agree with me that in addition to the top hat and cane, a cape would set our uniforms off nicely?” Oliver asked, “you may fetch the Counsellor for me, thank you. And hurry, the captain himself is awaiting my presence.”

Solving the galaxy one misunderstood ‘clue’ at a timeOOC oh yes, he believes Janna has powers :)
OOC: Oh dear. This will be interesting! I’m confused what’s he’s carrying. Is it a cane or a sword? (Rapier implies a sword).
OOC: He goes nowhere without his rapier … he also goes nowhere without his cane … his cane doubles as the sheathe for the rapier … I did some research into such things for him … apparently such things did exist. :D (I tried to do a picture of him carrying both a cane and a rapier … it looked overly ridiculous, even to me, so I tried one with him carrying the cane with the hilt of a rapier out one end … and it looked less ridiculous, and within appropriate levels of ridiculousness for him.)

Cherry gave Sterling a long look as she rose from the desk, not sure whether to answer his question or not. Moving over one the six doors (hers was red), Cherry chimed. The door slid open and she poked her head in, speaking softly. The door slid closed and Cherry returned to the reception desk. “Ensign, Dr. Kingston said she will be a few more minutes as she’s with someone else. But she can fit you in right after.”
~Ensign Cherry, Receptionist/Admin. Assistant
“I will await her probing of my mental fortitude, she will not find my stoic butler defence wanting.” Oliver replied, sitting in one of the waiting chairs, his cane, with sheathed rapier inside it at his side.
