“Aye sir” S’Raal said reflexively. “Actually there is a special biolab we can use that was commissioned by Stark after we had an issue on the old Athena. I transferred it’s equipment here as I was working on something nanite wise to help the Captain” S’Raal’s mind filled with the whirlwind of past events and then subsided. “Long story short it could be adapted for you and it’s shielded from prying eyes plus has some pretty good purpose made biotech interfaces already preassembled to boot.”

Julien’s face brightened. “Well that sounds just perfect. I’ll leave it up to you to arrange it whenever it suits you and Lt. Legen, it’s not like I have any kind of off-duty schedule.” he said.

“Consider it done” S’Raal said breezily, “I have to admit after recent events it’s good to have some work to do and something new to get my teeth into. As to your off duty schedule I’m sure Orvos and I can come up with some things to try to try to attenuate your control, mobility and reaction speed. Never hurts to try and better yourself I always say”. It was obvious that S’Raal was also relishing the challenge as well as the possible results.

Julien nodded. “Agreed. This is also why I’ll have a sparring session with Cmdr. Stark. I’ve had a Caitian crewmember on the Genesis, a scientist. She was not trained in combat, but even without any training she was a good sparring partner.” he said.

“I can imagine” S’Raal said gravely “Our people have had to learn to be survivors” his eyes were distant for a moment and then he refocused on the man in front of him. “Stark will enjoy that, he’s been feeling that he’s losing his edge lately”.

Julien chuckled. “Stark? Hard to imagine.” he noted, then looked at S’Raal with renewed interest. “What’s your favourite field of medicine Dr. S’Raal?” he asked.

With no hesitation S’Raal replied, “Experimental slash research all the way’ his eyes literally glowed with pleasure, “We’re out here to boldly go where no one has gone before and for me that’s finding new technologies, new pharmacopeia and anything that gives people hope for the cure they never thought they’d get. Hugely fulfilling”.

S’Raal thought briefly of the latest time travel escapade and all the technologies he’d wished he could have brought back. The reintegration device had been firmly whisked away by Michail never to be seen again. S’Raal wondered what else the future held…

Julien nodded. “A fascinating field. Mine is genetics and more recently pediatrics.” he thought of the moment he had delivered his daughter and had to smile. He was missing his children badly. “Well, shall I ask Lt. Legen to set up the lab securely or shall I leave it to you?” he asked, his gentle smile back.

S’Raal understood the reference to paediatrics, he’d taken a more than passing interest in it as well lately, he returned the smile. “Remind me to get some parenting advice in the not too distant future. As to the lab I’ll talk to Orvos, between us we’ll have things humming in no time”.

Julien gave S’Raal a sad smile. “It’s hard to be a parent when your children are physically bound to a far away planet and you are a Starfleet officer.” he said in a heavy tone that betrayed his hurt.
