“Hell, even species won’t determine things. I remember the first time I attended a Christmas celebration and people were surprised that I didn’t know about it because I was Human. But I didn’t grow up on Earth, or with any sort of religion, so holidays like that were a bit of a surprise,” Faye said, smirking at the memory. She liked the lights and decor. It was festive, but she still hated group socializing and that would never change. She could tolerate it for the sake of crew bonding or whatever crap was required, but she’d always hightail it out of there as soon as possible.

Marsihka leaned back and looked from Faye to Khabal. In some ways they couldn’t be more different.
“I can’t see as you would have had any use for personal or group holidays Mr. Khabal. Would that assumption be correct? Both of my lineages will not miss an opportunity to invent a holiday if you aske me. Got up in the morning when you’d rather have slept in? Let’s throw a party. Ascension of, oh, insert something interesting here? Bloodwine for everyone. Who knows, maybe they’re right.”

“Spiral Nomads don’t have holidays. We do recognize the need for down time and socialization among many of the others but the Quarm, themselves, usually only celebrate successful contracts and, provided we survive long enough, retirement.” Khabal explained.
- Khabal
“I can’t imagine a Quarm retiring but we know so little of your people that I’m certain it must happen. What does that look like?” she asked signaling for another drink.
- Marishka
It was clear Marishka knew more about Khabal than most and Faye was content to just listen and learn. And she had ceased feeling weird about not drinking when others were. It was just an everyday part of her life now and she had no emotion attached to it, which for Faye was massive.

Khabal had drank a significant amount of Kanar but seemed unaffected.
“The hand, or what remains of it, are brought into a room where they observe a ceremony releasing the palm of it’s duties therefore releasing the fingers as well.” Khabal said simply and took anther drink of Kanar.
- Khabal
Marishka had seen her fair share of ceremonies in her time but that description left a lot to be desired. She wondered if that was intentional or just the way Khabal spoke.
“It sounds very austere or perhaps the word I’m looking for is efficient. I do have another bottle of that particular Kanar if the need should arise.” she said noting his tolerance.

A flurry of questions flooded her brain, her mind branching off in swift curiosity. It was enough that Faye probably appeared as if she had zoned out. It certainly wasn’t the first time, nor that last. But it was probably better this than spewing a ton of questions at the man without any context or understanding of what was okay to ask or not. Faye wasn’t good at those social cues sometimes, but she had leaned to tamp down on the initial impulse.

Khabal looked over at Faye.
“I can see you have questions. Go ahead and ask. ” he said with a friendly smile.
- Khabal
For most people, they would ask a simple question that was socially appropriate for the situation. Faye’s brain did not work that way. Ever. Instead she had more than Khabal was likely expecting and they varied on subject and detail. There was a reason her time undercover had been limited to a specific situation. Faye was not really the subtle type. “Do you really want me to ask, or are you simply being polite?” she said, her expression focused and open.
