: : : : : : : : : : : “It’ll be painless, Chief, you’ll be slightly numb for a few hours,” The doctor said with confidence “Your extreme sensitivity could result in major damage in your lobes nerve endings, numb for hours or dead for life” He gave the FErengi the ultimatum.
: :
: : Lazol resigned himself to the fate that his precious lobes were going to have one of those nasty injections, but he toughened up and accepted it.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Orvos managed to slam against the main computer console in front of him. He got up, quite a bit flustered. He quickly looked over the readings, ignoring the pain in hand. They had just dropped out of temporal warp and their new coordinates were at the Guardian of Forever.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Something felt off though. Missing, in fact. He looked around. He couldn’t find Commander Chryst within sight. Nor could he sense anymore, the anomaly that he was. “Computer, locate Commander Adam Chryst.”
: : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : He awaited the results as he looked over the main systems of the Athena.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : -Lt. Orvos Legen, CE
: : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : Dutifully the Computer replied, =^=Commander Chryst is on the Bridge, Main Sickbay, Science Lab 1, Emergency Evacuation Section 2, Jefferies Tube 11-A, Turbo Lift 4, Cargo bay 4, Recalculating, Commander Chryst is in 17 Forward and ware reclamation unit 297=^= the computer replied.
: : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : The Computer
: : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : Orvos rubbed his head as the computer continued relaying the message. Either the computer was severely screwy right now, or the first officer was severely screwy right now. Given the fact that Orvos knew something was finicky already with the commander and time, he figured the computer was likely trying to give an accurate assessment.
: : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : He tapped his combadge to get a hold of the captain. When no return chirp came, he realized that the bridge would likely be a better option.
: : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : =/\=Engineering to bridge. We’ve somehow managed to get out of temporal warp. However, the Commander Chryst appears to be in multiple places all over the ship. I’m not sure what’s going on, but thought you ought to know. I’m going to make sure the ship is still in one piece.=/\=
: : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : -Lt. Orvos Legen, CE
: : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : NE’s Blue Five & Blue Six
: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : Several power relays blew under the strain of the exit from temporal warp. If the ship was going to manoeuvre and fight some quick repairs were going to be needed. The warp core itself seemed subtly different as well, as if enduring the things it had been through had altered it in some indefinable way.
: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist (GMT)
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : Orvos looked over the warp core, noting it seemed different somehow. Was it the temporal warp bubble it had created created? Was it his senses running askew?
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : An alertbrpught him out of his thoughts. Power relays, of course. He signed and quickly grabbed a kit. “Chief Petty Officer Lazol, you’re with me. Ensign Keyes, you too.”
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : Orvos went to a nearby console once the group assembled, in order to determine exact locations of the blown relays.
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : -Lt. Orvos Legen, CE
: :
: : Lazol nodded and replied simply, “Understood sir”
: :
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : The analysis of the blown relays showed something very disturbing. The relays had been blown in an hourglass pattern around the main warp core. One single burst of plasma energy through those relays would start a cascade failure that would lead to a near instantaneous warp core breach.
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist (GMT)
: : :
: : : Orvos’s blood practically stopped. Weapons fire had already ensued. He had felt the reverberation through the ship. The relays likely couldn’t be patched in time, but he could give it a go anyway.
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : Isabel ran into engineering, having volunteered to work in securing this location. Temporal warps were no small thing. It would be an understatement to say that she was a little frightened. However, Isabel was a very experienced officer and none of that showed as she began securing Engineering.
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : “Lt. Legen is everyone safe?”
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : Delaney, Sec
: : :
: : : Orvos looked to the security officer, of whom he recognized as Isabel Delaney. “For the most part. Probably best to–” He was cut off by next communique.
: : : : : :
: : : : : : =/\=Attention all hands, this is the Captain speaking. All hands abandon ship. I repeat, abandon ship. This is not a drill. You have ten minutes.=/\=
: : : : : :
: : : : : : Fl. Captain Koraia, CO
: : : : :
: : : : : Shortly after this shocking pronouncement sensors in engineering went wild in seeming panic as they detected the inexorable advance of a plasma surge travelling through the Athena making it’s way energetically towards the failed relays that had served to protect the Athena’s warp core.
: : : : :
: : : : : Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist (GMT)
: : : :
: : : : bump
: : :
: She too stopped at the sound of the warning klaxon and the abandon ship order from the Captain. It wasn’t a sound she knew well from personal experience, but it was a sound every Star Fleet officer knew in general.
:
: : : “Delaney, get everyone out of here!” he shouted to all present. “All of you get going now!”
: : :
: : : He then ran into his office to grab his wrist devices. While doing so, he checked the readouts and calculated current timing before the plasma struck the warpcore. If it was less than ten minutes, he was definitely going to need to tell the captain.
: : :
: : : -Lt. Orvos Legen, CE
: :
: Izzy nodded once and began facilitating the evacuation of all the personnel in Engineering. Everyone was running from their stations. Some gathered a few things before leaving, but most simply left their station and made their way to exits nearby.
:
: : Lazol ignored the CE and ran towards a terminal to do some quick calculations. While he might be just a mechanic who hadn’t taken advanced warp theory, he certainly knew about the practical aspects of keeping a ship running. “Sir” Lazol called out as he ran towards the CE as to not be completely disobedient, “Could we bypass the safeties on the theta-matrix compositor and promote as much dilithium recrystallization as we can within the core to potentially help regulate the energy in the core as the plasma strikes it? I don’t think it’ll stop the wave but it might help to lessen it’s effects.”
: :
: : – CPO Lazol, Mechanic
“You two get moving, I’m right behind you,” stated Orvos. He was not going to leave anyone behind, and as a typical leader, he would be the last one out of engineering. He grabbed an engineering kit and nodded to them both.
