(snip)

In actual fact, Janna hadn’t come here as Doctor Kingston, but where needed, she would often appear. She was too good at her job to just ignore something that needed her skills. And yet, the man before her didn’t need a therapist tonight. There would be plenty of opportunities in the future, though she understood there were complications here by their involvement and also that he would likely refuse to see someone else on her staff. He did seem to take special delight in being difficult!

But all these thought vanished as warmth blossomed on her cheek as his hand made that beautiful connection surge. He was more than a little drunk, and yet, she knew instinctively what he wanted and needed. And she knew herself too well to know that she hadn’t come here to scold him for running away. Quite the opposite. There was a part of her that wanted to sooth that hurt part of him, leave something lovely behind in its place. Was she able to? Would she be enough? She didn’t know. But it was time to find out.

Orvos was regretting having drank what all he had. He could feel their connection, the emotions and knowing coursing between them in a sense. She wanted to sooth him, and he was confident he only wanted it from her.

“We’re not supposed to be touching,” she whispered. “But someone told me recently that I should live a little. Take risks. Have regrets. I think he might be right,” she said before leaning in and pressing her lips to his, sighing softly as if she had been denied something for so long and was finally allowed to have it.

Orvos embraced her with a slow passion. He slowly leaned into her, pushing her back on the couch, one hand on her cheek as he pressed his lips to her. His heart was racing. They had been told to not touch each other, and here they were, damn the consequences. he continued like this for a moment, fingers tangled in her hair as his thumb caressed her cheek. She would feel the want of total surrender, to completely give in to what desires they shared. The fire deep down was growing wilder by the second.

He pulled back his lips ever so slightly, his eyes right in front of hers as he whispered, “To new beginnings then…”

Being able to sense his emotions before they surfaced physically was such a strange feeling, but with him it was intoxicating. Now that she knew she could read him that way, there was no doubt as to what Orvos wanted, and they could be rest assured that the alcohol wasn’t the deciding factor. Maybe it propelled things slightly, but she had known that first moment of that very first kiss that this right here was inevitable. “Indeed,” she breathed, before pulling him to her.

What was time anyway? One could track it with the path of clothes that were now strewn about his quarters that spelled out their progress from the couch eventually to his bedroom, but the concept of time had lost all meaning for Janna. Instead, she was fixated on this strange new sensation their mere contact created in her. It was soothing, knowing, like everything was right in the universe. She had never felt such a thing before.

Shifting her position beneath the covers, her hand slipped across the skin of his chest and she nestled her head into the crook of his arm. “The rational part of my brain wants to examine all this, break it down, but the rest of me is just happy being here with you,” she said, even her soft voice sounded loud in the hushed aftermath of their long and drawn passion.

Orvos laid there, holding her close as he relished in what he thought was likely not ever possible. He laughed lightly. “Oh my dear, don’t think about it. We just broke every rule they told us to follow.”

He then turned on his side and wrapped his other arm around to her back and caressed her. “We weren’t supposed to touch each other. I lost track of how many times that rule was broken tonight. And quite frankly I don’t care. Ship isn’t destroyed. We’re still here…you’re here.” He gave her another kiss on her lips before adding with a mischievous grin. “I can’t wait to tell the doctor…”
