The man raised both eyebrows, furrowing the deep wrinkles on his head even more. ”Youre the commanding officer, you’re never really out of mind. Out of sight maybe but that’ll just out you in mind even more.

She spread her hands out to the side and shrugged. “If it allows me a few minutes to get some work done uninterrupted, it works for me. Now, I don’t remember asking for a doctor. What can I do for you?” Ghubari said with amusement.

He limped into the room further, towards her. ”The ship I’m stationed on just wrapped up a mission, I had some leave time accumulated.” he said by way of explanation. ”So I headed back to the nearest starbase. I was surprised to see you guys docked let alone the trash can that used to be the Ogawa.” he eyed her now, blue eyes taking in her position and interest in him. A smirk crossed his features.

“Well, we were here before and… now we’re back. Funny that. Then again it is fleet headquarters so not so unusual for fleet ships to, you know, dock here,” Koraia said casually, having finally remembered who this man was.

”So, the point is I had time. Now…” he sat down in the chair beside her, hooking the came on the table. ”…why don’t you tell me, exactly how you managed to regrow a limb. And I mean in gorey, excruciating detail.”

Mystery man

Folding her arms on the table, she leaned forward and grinned slightly. “Oh, it’s driving you crazy, isn’t it? All that postulating and trying to figure out exactly how something like that would work. And you just can’t quite get there. Maybe partially, but then inevitably you get stuck. But you know Doctor Ryley, it is classified information. Curious how you found out about it in the first place…”

Rykey smirked, apparently delighted she had recognised him. ”Uhh yeah. Why the hell do you think I’ve bothered to come at all.” he waved his hand ”Classified is stuck a strong word, mildly unattainable in some circles is a better turn of phrase and since the file itself is such but you yourself are not…” be waved his hand in a circle as if to say so on. ”Now, details.”

She grinned at him as she braced her elbow on the table and propped her chin in her hand. “it’s not replicable. Certainly not here in the Federation in any medical facility. It requires very specific elements to be present in a very specific environment. I didn’t even think it was possible actually, and I almost backed out of letting them attempt it more than once. But I didn’t and I went through the process. And it was, as you might imagine, excruciatingly painful. Though the beings that were conducting the procedure helped ease that quite a bit. Otherwise, I probably would have passed out much like I did when my leg was cut off in the first place.” It told him a lot and yet nothing at all. He was used to laying games and she just happened to be in the mood to play them too.

The greying older man rolled his entire head as well as his eyes. “Yeah yeah yeah blah blah blah. You were scared they were not. Skip it ill wait for the home release of the movie for that part, when I said derails I meant skip the first act entirely and jump to the action Kiddo.” he told her impatiently.

Koraia’s pale amber eyes gleamed. “You know, from my angle I could almost watch the leg getting longer and longer. They actually generated new tissue based on my own DNA. remarkable process! I didn’t watch though. It was a bit much. Not gory at all though, so I’m told.” Yes, she was enjoying this far too much but it washim she was dealing with.
