Roger was ready for his trip to the planet. He was planning on spending some time in the pool, and just swim or float his cares away. But, first, he needed to meet his new boss, the new XO, Commander Millet. Roger approached the XO’s office door and it chimed to let the XO know that he was there. He waited for the XO’s response.
LT JG Sanks, linguist.

“Oui! Come in.” He called out. His office was bare because he was new as well.

Commander Jean-Francois Millet XO

Lt. Sanks walked into the XO’s office. “I am Lt. Junior Grade Roger Sanks, I was told you were the one I now report to, so I thought I’d stop by before heading to the planet.” Lt. Sanks said, a little nervous to meet the XO.
LT JG Sanks, linguist

“Please come in. I must confess that I am new myself and only arrived two days ago. So I have no clue whom you are. My name is Jean Francois Millet. Have a seat and we’ll talk a bit so you can go back to your vacation.”

Commander Jean-Francois Millet XO

“I’m the ship’s linguist.” Roger told him as he sat down.
LT JG Sanks, linguist

Millet leaned forward. “Really?! Wow! What languages do you speak? Actually. What languages can you speak, read and write?”

Commander Jean-Francois Millet XO

“I can speak, read and write majority of Vulcan and Spanish, everything else is a little more iffy, especially Klingon but I’m still studying and trying to rely less on the translators to help me.” Lt. Sanks said. He knew he wasn’t the greatest linguist to graduate from the academy, but he hoped he wasn’t the worst, or would be the one to get the ship in a situation because he misinterpreted a word.

“That is wonderful. More than I can speak. So do you have any career goals that you want to achieve and maybe I can help you with that.”

Commander Jean-Francois Millet XO

“I would like to be Captain of a ship at some point.” Roger told the XO.
Lt Sanks, linguist

“Well you and me both. Once we have down time I will send a request to Starfleet granting you access to the Command Courses. You pass those and you will have command status and we will go from there. How does that sound?”

Commander Jean-Francois Millet XO

“That sounds awesome, thank you sir.” Roger said, very excitedly.
Lt. Sanks, Linguist.
