Twiddling with his uniform, Owen stepped forwards taking in the shuttle bay of the USS Bonaventure. This wasn’t his first assignment aboard a starship, but it never got easier and the nerves were even higher this time now that he was the XO.

Given a moment to glance around, his eyes would settle on a woman in a security uniform and a small padd in her hand. Stepping forward, she didn’t seem phased by his rank. There wasn’t the nervousness of most greeters he occasionally saw. “Commander, Xander, I am NE Rh’Jod. My pleasure to welcome you aboard the Bonnie. Is there any additional luggage on the shuttle that needs to go to your quarters?” His personal crates and larger pieces would be placed in his room or the holding bay depending on the desired location marked on them. Her eyes were a sea blue that seemed to shift hues as her head moved. And her brunette hair was expertly coifed on her head within regulations.

Straightening his uniform, stepping towards her he replied: “Thank you Rh’Jod, I’ve got all my luggage sorted thank you.”. Scanning around the bay with his eyes, Owen took in his surroundings before settling his brown eyes back on the security officer.

Her stance was steady and sure and while she had her eyes on him, if he had any inkling, he would guess she could name every other person flitting about the bay and tell exactly what they were doing. There was a readiness to her that would let him know that this was no ‘fresh from the Academy bootie’ they had sent as his escort.

“So, what can you tell me about the Bonnaventure. Help make this transition a little easier.” Owen asked recognising that the way the female conducted herself was clearly of someone who had experience both in Starfleet and on this ship.

Rh’Jod laughed and motioned for him to follow as she headed out of the bay and towards his quarters. “Since I am sure you are familiar with the starship as a whole, I won’t insult you by going over the textbook schematics. But I can give you a quick refresher on where everything is.” As she led him down the hall to the lift and then to the floor where his quarters were, she gave him a quick rundown of where engineering, medical and basic quarters were for everyone. She also listed the shift supervisors for each department and the main bridge staff he would be in contact with the most.

Owen nodded taking a mental note of everything that she was saying, it would be useful to know some names for the shifts rather than addressing people by their ranks.

When they reached his quarters, she palmed open the door and smiled. “I can give you a moment to freshen up or you can drop your things and I’ll take you to the Captain right now, if you wish. She’s on the bridge.” She then realized there was another option. “Or I can leave you here and allow you to seek her on your own. You are expected today. But she didn’t give me orders to bring you straight away, in case you need a moment.”

“I’ll take a moment to freshen up before I head to meet the captain, the last thing I want is to show up and not meet her standards.” Owen replied listening to all the available options “I’ll not take up any more of your time, I’ll make my own way to the bridge.”.

“As you wish, Sir… if you need anything else, I’ll be on for the rest of the shift. Lt Dincara is on for the night rotation. Don’t hesitate to call if you need anything.” She smiled and gave a courteous nod before stepping back then departing.

Owen entered his quarters once the officer had left and took a chance to gather himself ready to go and meet the captain.
