I will be removed as CO and the Sojourner will be given one week to find an experienced good CO or it will be decommed.

Thank you for everything you’ve done for the Sojourner. You’ve given a huge amount of creativity, care, and time to the ship over the years, and that’s deeply appreciated.

I know this hasn’t been an easy moment, but I want to thank you for agreeing to step back as CO so that we can give the Sojo the best possible chance to thrive under new leadership. We’ll now begin the process of finding a new CO to guide the ship through its review period.

To the rest of the crew — thank you for your patience. As I explained to Lucas, I’ve been doing some hard thinking over the past few days, and to be transparent, the only path I could see that avoided decommissioning was for him to step aside as CO and let someone else take the helm. That would allow a proactive CO to come in and give the Sojo the best possible chance to succeed during a review period.

However, that’s only viable if we can find a suitable, experienced CO within the week. If we can’t, we’ll inevitably end up back in the same position, and I’ll need to proceed with decommissioning.
