Ari shook her head. “T’Liea knows what she’s doing. If we needed video feed, she would initiate it. If they are docking then exiting the shuttle, which is kind of the point,” she sighed wishing she was there, “then vid from the shuttle would be moot.”

She stepped back to her chair and pressed the comm. [O] Bonnie to XO… everything all right out there? Been silent a minute…[O] She tried to keep it light, be even she would recognize the edge of concern she couldn’t keep out of her voice as she stared at the small shuttle disappear into the darkness across the expanse from them. The inside of her cheek was starting to feel the constant worrying from her teeth as she tried to remain composed… on the outside at least.

Jharaas narrowed her eyes, listening closely for any response that might come from the shuttle. She agreed with the fact that one of the MACO should have been with the craft, but it was much too late to put that notion out there. Clasping her hands beside her, she glanced at the Colonel, a raised eyebrow the only effort at communication she made.

Melissa leaned over “We may want to have a team ready to go in case this goes sideways.” She suggested quietly “I know they are well trained but this may be something more than they can handle.” She said quietly as well as she continued to watch the situation unfold. Melissa walked over to a console near the MACO area and pulled up some information that she had been studying earlier that may be of some help to them.

“Agreed.” Jharaas nodded to her, glancing over at the panel she was working on. Turning towards the Captain, she was about to make a comment about having a team on standby.

As if it was planned, Baumann’s voice came over the comms at that instant. [O] Shuttle to Bonaventure. Docking successful. Deploying security team to secure landing area. Verbal contact established with subjects requesting assistance. Request MACO response team on standby. [O]

Ari let out a mental sigh hearing Baumann’s voice confirm everyone was ok and communication had been established. Reaching down to tap her chair arm, she replied [O] Copy that. We’ll have them ready. Keep communications open. [O]

She glanced at the MACO and nodded. “Let’s see to having two teams ready… I want one to secure an area for incoming wounded and a team to deploy if need be.” She knew everyone was curious wanted their chance to see who, or what, they were dealing with. But this time she wanted to be sure they had as little contact as possible.

First contact was starting to become more of their mission of late than mere exploration. The fact wasn’t lost on her, either, that had she merely been science Chief still, she’d be chomping at the bit like everyone else.

Sensors started to pick up a motion along the equator line of the Sphere. A ship or something was detaching. It was elongated, like a flattened cigar and was about three times the length of the Bonnie. Right now it was hovering over the equator line.

Ari stood up from her seat and moved towards the nearest console. “What’s that? And how close is it to our guys?” She leaned over to tap the comm to the away team. [O]Baumann, T’Leia… we have something detaching from the ship. Something large. Keep your hackles up.[O] She emphasized the word ‘large’ and the warning was clear.

“I want telemetry on that thing. And I want to know if it even twitches towards the team or us. Let’s just hope a docking malfunction loosed it.” She knew that wasn’t the case, but she could hope… right?

Alison made her way back to the bridge, she had left Ensign Hallows working on reviewing the interior scans, while her own analysis of the singularity processed. She had set the bridge station to be alerted when it was completed.

As she stepped onto the bridge she looked at the screen right as the piece detached from the Sphere.

“Leave for a minute and all the fun stuff happens,” she said under her breath. Quickly slipping over to the science station she started a scan of the ship, trying to see if it was moving on it’s own power, and just see what she could find out about it.

Ari smiled as Barr came back. “So that’s how I get you to the Bridge…” she laughed as the woman took her station. “Just have something weird and strange happen that I need help analyzing.” She laughed and looked back at the viewer. The last thing she wanted was it to make its move and she have her back turned.

Alison shrugged. “What can I say, it’s all about timing Captain,” she said as she settled in to the seat. “I’ve go the computer running an analysis of the singularity right now, hopefully it will be able to tell us more about this sphere. But what we’ve got here, this is definitely not what I was expecting.”
