Baumann kept a watch on the docked ship and began monitoring for power fluctuations. He then said to T’Leia “Ma’am, perhaps an announcement of our arrival on the same comms frequency we heard from would be prudent? An explanation that we are here to assist?” he said as he gave a nod to indicate Woods and Delta team preparing to secure the landing zone. “Prudent on our part. But if that is the first thing these individuals see without even an attempt at telling them otherwise… well… the risk of an incident is heightened.”
Baumann, AC
T’Leia nodded in agreement,”Do so. Any reaction to our approach?” She asked as she continued to watch out the viewscreen.
Commander T’Leia
There was no overt reaction to their approach.
“Should I land on the inside surface of the Dyson Sphere, or should I try to land on the object we’re trying to rescue?” Kenneth asked quietly.
Kenny
To land on the surface would put them a considerable distance from the sphere. Which, as they approached, was looking rather less ‘techy’ as from the distance. In fact it was looking rather on the … grubby side.
T’Leia paused for a moment as she considered what they had learned. “Land on the glowing sphere where the distress call is coming from. We will need to speak to the people there to find ascertain what they need assistance with.” She felt a thrill of excited curiosity at the chance to meet and learn about a new species. This species didn’t feel as threatening or other worldly as Bane had.
Commander T’Leia
A scan would show that on one of the smaller spheres there was what appeared to be a kind of airlock or dock they they could go to. Otherwise there was nothing they could see that showed itself as a ‘door’. From that ‘dock’ there was a short ‘tube’ that was perhaps two meters in diameter connecting it to the larger sphere.
[o] Rescue Team to Distress Call. Please identify yourself and tell us what assistance you require. We are here to assist. Be advised we will be at your location in one minute. Please have a representative available. Please respond. [o] Baumann said into the comms, repeating until he had a response.
Baumann, AC
Rachel steeled herself. She mentally went over her Xenobiology medical research in her head as she absentmindedly stroked the Medkit sitting in her lap. This was the difficult part of the job, meeting new species and potentially having to give medical aid to them without understanding the basic fundamentals of their anatomy. Then as per usual her mind wandered and she started wondering what kind of dinner she’d have tonight.
Dr. Grey - CMO
Alan, who had so far spent the trip starting out the window, walked over to Baumann. “They may not respond because of the foreign language. They may never have heard English before and therefore not trust us. Perhaps Vulcan or Klingon.” [O]Korsau travek tor flakosh vutau. Etek dungi nam-tor na’ ish-veh shul svi’ veh minute. [o] I .. I’m Dal. A representative? You mean meet you? I’ll be there. [o] It was short and sweet and the comms ended, then abruptly came back on [o] Welcome to our Zavish [o] The computer worked at the translation and rendered it as a possible ‘home’.
As the shuttle approached the dock they could see a shadow moving along the tube toward their destination. The sphere and tube had been repaired several times by the look of it, and, as they drew near, the gravity well of the black hole suddenly diminished considerably. By the look of the dock it would be a hard dock connection. The construction of the sphere looke like a thick glass or transparent metal or something. Sensors were not definite on that so it may have been a composite. But it was old or at least not kept up. The ‘chain’ that held it to the surface of the Sphere many kilometers below was thick and braided; up close the whole thing looked like an old light globe hanging from a ceiling, though much much bigger.
- WookieeBaumann pointed to the docking mechanism and said “Prepare for hard point docking. Mr. Woods. One ‘Dal’ will be meeting us. Make a brief introduction and secure the landing area.” and he turned and looked at T’Leia. “Once the dock is secure we can exit the shuttle, Ma’am. I will be your escort for the duration.” his tone was polite and respectful, but it also held no indication of flexibility. The safety of the team was his responsibility, and he took that responsibility very seriously.
Baumann, AC
“Absolutely, Lieutenant. I would like Dysart to stay with us as well, we will need his communications skill as interpreter.” T’Leia said as she moved back out of the way and then to Dysart to see if he was ready to go. She looked around at Grey, Woods, Locke, Dysart, and Fleet.
“Everyone ready to go?”Commander T’Leia
Now that docking procedures were being prepared Rachel opened her eyes and her usually dopey expression was replaced with a more serious one. Most notably was the lack of her trademarked crooked smile. She was no longer going over information in her head, it was as someone might say ‘Game Time’.
Dr. Grey - CMO
“Hardpoint docking and secure the docking platform aye Sir” he relayed the same orders to his team. Max had been standing ready to go since they entered standard orbit.

Ari stepped back to her chair and pressed the comm. [O] Bonnie to XO… everything all right out there? Been silent a minute…[O] She tried to keep it light, be even she would recognize the edge of concern she couldn’t keep out of her voice as she stared at the small shuttle disappear into the darkness across the expanse from them.Ari
COKenneth guided the shuttle against the dock and started the docking procedures. It wasn’t long before they were ready to clamber out. “Should I go with the team that’s gonna look at their engine or mechanical problems? It’s my area of expertise, I suppose.”
Fleet, CE
“We will wait to see what they say their greatest needs are as we will need their guidance, Lieutenant.” T’Leia said as she moved back toward the door area.
Now that they were docked and ready to disembark Rachel prepared her stuff. Double checking her hand scanner, opening her case and once more going over her medicine and several medical tools. Then her hands went to her sides and felt for the pair of Batons she had attached on either side. When she was satisfied she closed and secured the case and mentally prepared herself to enter.
Dr. Grey - CMO
“Um. Sir.” Alan said, moving towards the exit. “The word that took time to translate, ‘zavish’, I think they may have been responding to the hail in Vulcan. It’s completely different from the Vulcan and Romulan words for home, but structurally it’s closer to the Vulcan language than Klingon or English. Given that the rest of the message translated so easily, I’m guessing it at least bears some similarities to a language we already know.”
-Lt(j.g.) Alan Dysart, Linguist
T’Leia frowned,”I don’t recognize the word, Lieutenant. Do you have a translation for it?”
As the shuttle locked into the docking clamp, Baumann said “Bravo team deploy.” and then tapped the comms. [O] Shuttle to Bonaventure. Docking successful. Deploying security team to secure landing area. Verbal contact established with subjects requesting assistance. Request MACO response team on standby. [O]
Baumann, AC
Max slammed his hand on the hatch door opener to open the hatch. Max had ran out fast and hard with his team in a diamond formation. As soon as they cleared the hatch they had spread out in a defensive alert formation in front of the shuttle. Max held his fist in the air to halt the dismemberment of the rest of the away team.
Woods, Armory
T’Leia followed the security team out and looked around curiously, taking in everything she saw carefully.
