Melissa watched the situation as it unfolded. She felt that it would have been better for the MACOs to be on the away team, however it was no longer her command. She was in more of a support role.

Tafoya (MACO)

Ari listened to Barr and nodded. Tapping the console beside her she hailed the shuttle. [O] Ok shuttle… You can enter but remain close to the walls. If you sense anything amiss, don’t hesitate to haul yourselves out right away. And Barr thinks we should be able to send in a probe and scoot it around the inner perimeter to see about additional readings. Watch that singularity and keep the comm open. Proceed with caution. [O]

She stepped back and moved to sit in her chair. If she stayed standing, she’d pace. Her crewmates, her family, were going in there without her.

And she didn’t like that one bit.

She sat back in her chair watching the viewer. And unless they knew what to look for, she was surprisingly calm. Only her knuckles flexing on the of her chair and making themselves white with the strain, gave away her tension.

((Crossed to shuttle))

The probe telemetry data showed strange data that would require science to lay into and study. It all looked just perfect in the positioning of the singularity and distance to the skin of the Sphere. Moreover, a fly by within would display the energy sources to be anti-grav units. There was no habitation on the interior surface of the Sphere, but an atmosphere extended far beyond what one would normally have with a planet - nearly 300 for a habitable area.

[O] Copy, Bonaventure. We will proceed with caution and keep communications open. [O] Baumann responded.

Alison furrowed her brow as she looked over the data the probe was sending back. “Captain, it looks like the singularity is perfectly centered inside the Sphere…” she trailed off as she looked through more of the data. She shook her head.

“Captain, I’m going to have to send this information down to the science labs, and get my team to look deeper into this. This is beyond what I have seen before.”

Ari got up and moved to Barr’s station and glanced at the data. “Wow… so the question is, was the sphere built around the singularity, or the singularity created inside the sphere?” She patted the woman’s shoulder and smiled. “Go ahead… we need to see what’s going on here.” She stood back up and watched the viewscreen.

Too many questions, not enough answers. She watched the shuttle disappear into the gaping maw and hoped this wasn’t going to go sideways like her gut thought it might. “Be safe…” she murmured under her breath.

“That is a great question Captain. Hopefully we’ll be able to get some better readings on the singularity, and see how it is made up. In theory, we’ll be able to look at the composition and see how regular it is, and that would give us some idea of how it came to be inside the sphere. I’m really curious on how they are able to keep it stable.”

Alison packaged up her notes so far, and sent them down to the science lab, before pushing herself back from the console and heading for the lift.

“Captain, I will update you as soon as we get something.”

A NE from the rear of the bridge at the secondary comms station said, “Signal is clear from the shuttle. If they linked their sensors with the comms we could see what they were seeing unless the thickness of that thing was too much for the signal. Maybe use a probe outside the maw to run the signal out to us in a line of sight?”

The bridge doors whooshed open and the Vulcan Healer entered the bridge. Sickbay was prepared and he had decided to come to bridge to observe the meeting of this new species.

OOC: Just an FYI, if you guys would like to have a visual from the shuttle, Mel you will need to comm them and ask them to set it up. Though they are exiting the shuttle now so may be moot.

Ari shook her head. “T’Liea knows what she’s doing. If we needed video feed, she would initiate it. If they are docking then exiting the shuttle, which is kind of the point,” she sighed wishing she was there, “then vid from the shuttle would be moot.”

She stepped back to her chair and pressed the comm. [O] Bonnie to XO… everything all right out there? Been silent a minute…[O] She tried to keep it light, be even she would recognize the edge of concern she couldn’t keep out of her voice as she stared at the small shuttle disappear into the darkness across the expanse from them. The inside of her cheek was starting to feel the constant worrying from her teeth as she tried to remain composed… on the outside at least.

Jharaas narrowed her eyes, listening closely for any response that might come from the shuttle. She agreed with the fact that one of the MACO should have been with the craft, but it was much too late to put that notion out there. Clasping her hands beside her, she glanced at the Colonel, a raised eyebrow the only effort at communication she made.

Melissa leaned over “We may want to have a team ready to go in case this goes sideways.” She suggested quietly “I know they are well trained but this may be something more than they can handle.” She said quietly as well as she continued to watch the situation unfold. Melissa walked over to a console near the MACO area and pulled up some information that she had been studying earlier that may be of some help to them.
