Galley - Things in Common

Posted by Ensign Evelyne Brooks (Medical Officer) in Galley - Things in Common
Sat on a table on her own, Evie started eating the goat’s cheese salad that the chef had prepared specifically for her. Eating French dishes helped make the Sojourner easier on her, and this dish in particular reminded her of her grandmother.

Her cat, Bijou was under the table eating her own meal. The Ragdoll preferred to eat with her human, and regularly refused to eat until they were both eating together.

Evie was looking at a rather interesting article about the future of medicine, and had gotten quite engrossed in the information.

Once the cat had finished her food, a meow signalled that she was done, and Evie looked down at her fluffy companion with a smile.

“Bijou, genoux”

The cat listened and jumped up onto Evie’s lap, curling up into a ball as her owner returned to her reading.

Released on a break, Rick made a beeline to the galley to grab a snack. He had had a rather voracious appetite growing up and that had not diminished greatly since then. Ensign Serinde had said that he would have made a very good Hobbit. Rick had absolutely no clue of what she was meaning but by the tone it was well intended. In tow was Nessa. He had to remember to not overfeed her which he found he was more likely to do.

Entering the galley he noted there were scattered people there but it was far from full being significantly between meal times. He glanced about .. desserts .. the all day breakfast things. Healthy or not so healthy? Either way his mouth was watering. There was a medic there with a salad and his table that he tended to sit at was free. That was a bonus for between mealtime eating. He almost never got it if he was late for a meal. “Nessa, find our table,” he said knowing that after this time she knew where he preferred to eat at. It was a seat by a port so he could look outside. That was a rare thing in engineering and rarer with his quarters. Rick glanced again at the salad that the doc had and fought with himself over what to get. He settled with oatmeal. It was only on the way back with his tray of the oatmeal and coffee that he noticed the furry creature on her lap. “Oh,” he said in passing. Which was, in retrospect, quite the clever introductory line.
