Ari stepped closer to the view screen. “What’s that?” She pointed to the flickering light. =^=Shuttle, hold for a moment.=^= She then turned to her CSO. “Barr, can we put one of those probes inside ahead of the shuttle, I want to be sure it doesn’t snap shut once something passes inside.”

She frowned at the light flickering on the far side from where the shuttle was. “Barr, will you see if there is a pattern or anything to that new light?” Part of her was excited. Maybe it was a message. Unfortunately, the other half of her brain was seeing a trap along every line.

“Already ahead of you Captain,” Alison said as she adjusted the probes course again to direct it into the sphere.

As she waited for the probe to head for the sphere Alison looked at the light. “I’m not seeing a pattern Captain. I can try putting it through some extra decryption programs, but the computer is not finding any pattern yet.”

Ari began pacing. “Try older codes, all known species.” She was trying to figure it out as the small probe moved towards the opening to make sure they weren’t walking into a proverbial ‘venus fly trap’.

Alison nodded. “I’ll see what I can do Captain.”

While she kept recording the light flashes, to see if they could get any more data, she started putting through some of the more obscure decryption programs.

Melissa stood at the back of the Bridge and watched as things began to unfold.

Tafoya (MACO)

“Captain, I think I’ve almost got it,” Alison said tweaking the algorithm slightly.

At last the translator was decrypting it, applying a combination of algorithms. It suddenly burst out in a static of recognizable verbage - “Hello? Hello? Are you really from beyond? We need your help. We’re all dying here.”

The probe would immediately come up with a wash of information - most immediately of course being that the center of the Sphere was essentially a black hole. Gravitational pull was significant but would not hinder ships or probes that kept reasonably close to the shell of the Sphere.

Within the sphere, local power sources hovered above the surface at what might be considered an atmospheric level, and of varying strength, but nothing great compared to the surface power outputs they had noted. They were also not in any consistent pattern but dotted about.

That is ‘first impressions’ from the probe.

As the rest of the bridge crew was thinking over the transmission Alison was staring at the readings the probe was finally kicking back. “Captain, the shuttle needs to hold back immediately. I’m showing a gravitational singularity inside of the sphere. I need to determine the potential effect on the shuttlecraft will be before they approach any further.”

Ari nodded and sent a message to the shuttle. =^= Shuttle, hold back. There is a huge gravity well in the middle of the sphere. Barri is trying to calculate the safest entry depth. We ‘have’ received a transmission for help along with some telemetry. But till we are certain, hold outside the sphere. =^= She hoped they would wait. Whoever needed rescuing, they could only hope there was still someone there to retrieve.

Stepping onto the bridge, her silence enough to attempt to keep herself hidden, while the others tended to whatever they happened to be up to, Jharaas joined Tafoya. She gace a nod towards the Captain, but didn’t speak, as not to interrupt their duties. “Anything of significance?” She inquired, lowly, to the opposing MACO.

Melissa looked at Jharaas “We are sending a shuttle into the other ship, however we are sending in a probe before hand to make sure that it’s safe. There has been little to no communication from the other ship.” She said quietly “Just waiting to see what is needed from us.” She added.
