Looking about they were quickly able to locate the guard shack and side building which they found opened when someone would flip an emergency power switch in the guard shack. The door hummed and squealed a bit but eventually dinged and a large 20x20 ft elevator though dusty and showing a year or two of disuse was operating. Looking at the small digital map inside they had four levels they could go too, the first was about a quarter a mile beneath them labeled ‘offices/quarters/armory’, the second was a further mile below ground labeled ‘storage/labs/medical bay’ the third and forth levels were another mile and a half further beyond that labeled ‘reactor/labs/ship storage’.

As they entered the building, Jonathan started scanning the small interior of the guard shack for any clues. There was power running through some of these circuits still, not completely unexpected if they could detect a power source beneath them. However, there was something odd about the circuit around one particular switch. Throwing caution to the wind, he flipped the switch.

When the doors started squealing, Jonathan spun quickly towards the noise pulling out his own phase pistol.

“I think we might have found something.”

A strange mixture of fear twisted with her curiosity, driving her onward. Like a whip to her spine, Naomi helped the others search within the guardhouse. Gradually, she began to drift outside when the XO flipped the switch. The loud squeak of something moving caught her attention and her head peeked inside.

She joined the others to examine the hidden door’s reveal. With a cautious movement, she approached and pulled her scanner out in front. It hummed with activity as its beams illuminated whatever it touched. It appeared to be nothing more than an elevator.

“Appears safe…” Naomi started before she began to lead the way down, braving the danger. Her curiosity had taken over now, luring her downward.

“Where do we want to go? There are about four levels. First one appears to have offices, quarters, and armory. Second is storage, labs, and medical bay. Third and fourth appear to be more reactor, more labs, and ship storage.”

She licked her lips to clear her throat. “I think a good place to start is the offices. It might give us an idea of their research, and where to investigate next.”

“That would be the logical choice,” Jonathan said moving forward to look at the map. “But we might be able to get the answers we are looking for quicker by going straight to ship storage. Find out where they are getting the tech from.

“And before anyone asks, we are not going to split up the team again. That did not work out so well last time. And we are about to head into an unknown bunker… Nissek! Check the lift, make sure that we will be able to come back to the surface if we take it down.”

Cmdr. McKnight - XO

Just as McKnight finished speaking, a small chirp from the comm notified him the other team was reaching out.

Ari CO
“See if you can find out any more info on the different areas, so we can help make a decision,” Jonathan said as he dug his communicator out of a pocket.

[O] Jonathan here, go ahead. [O]

Cmdr. McKnight - XO

Relieved that McKnight answered, it was obvious in her voice despite trying to hide it. [O]We have wounded assets and need to get back to the ship. I think you all should join us as soon as possible. We need to see what we’ve figured out, speak to the soldier we have, and try and figure our next step.[O]

Ari CO
Naomi paused in her reply, spotting the CO contacting the XO. She tried to glean more from the monitor, but she couldn’t get much more by simply looking it over. Uncertain if her efforts would yield anything, she glanced at the sides and touched about it. She sought a place for her scanner to connect with it. Personally, the woman doubted she would find one.

When Ari finished with the XO, the scientist continued their conversation.

“Are you positive that the shipping and receiving information would be kept there? I also not fully understanding why we need to know the source or how that will completely help. We need to know how they are doing it in order to stop it.” She was fighting to keep the frustration out of her voice as she continued her search.

“The offices might at least track the flow of the information and prevent guess work. IF you’re wrong, we’re going to be backtracking or searching blind. That’s time I doubt we can waste.”

ENS Naomi D. Locke, Sci

Sadly no more information could be gotten from the simple information panel, it WAS just after all a simple digital sign connected to the elevator for floors. Nor were there any hook ups to external computer spaces for their scanners.

Kenny paced a little, glancing over at the conversation happening between Naomi and the XO. How much should they explore? Where should they go? How could he help? These were questions that ran through his mind, but the pilot said nothing.
