”..Name is Ry’an Peters, 21st interceptor squadron. Out of Base Marge. I doubt anyone is left at the base, enemy southern forces were invading as we took off and missile strikes were inbound.” He said rubbing his head.

Then clearing more his eyesight he looked at the two near him. “..Where you civies out of?” He inquired cautiously.

GM CockRoach

Baumann smiled a regretful smile and shrugged slightly. “All over, really. We’ have all been displaced by the fighting. We have found safety in numbers, so we look out for each other as best we can. Tell me, sir… how goes the war? We haven’t heard anything except the warnings and the odd bits of reports for some time. Please sir… is there any hope?” he asked with a slight hint of sorrow in his voice and a look of soft desperation as he handed the man a canteen of water.

Baumann, Intel

The pilot took a sip absorbing the story the group gave a moment. “..Those MACARM bastards sneak attacked us is whats the news. We retaliated as planned, but the damage has been done. Mutual destruction on both sides, and there’s still smaller scale nukes and antimatter warheads flying. By the Greyhound saviors if only they hadn’t left us. If only their enlightenment hadn’t been forgotten by those greedy with power among the MACARM to the south..” He said with a sigh.

GM CockRoach

“Indeed… indeed. Truly their departure allowed the rise of the MACARM. Had they stayed, we wouldn’t be suffering so.” and he gave the pilot a half smile. “But then we would not have met… so we must try to find the good in the midst of the bad.” and he patted the man’s arm comfortingly. “Now, you rest. We are planning our next move to get us all, and you, to some semblance of safety. Wait here.”

The pilot gave a slightly odd look to Baumann’s comment about the MACARM but said nothing to it. After another sip of the bottled water he nodded leaning back, “..Alright civie.” He said.

Atozi eyes widened at the sound of current nuclear weapons being used and immediately look for the tricorder they had kept behind so she could scan for radiation, “Sir we should be wary of radiation poisoning, nuclear weapons…” She said the next words in a whisper but anyone near her would hear her say, “Barbaric weapons of mass destruction, Ne’ethra” The word meaning something like fools in Andorian.

As indicated earlier there was still the radiation present from the earlier strikes, for now the radiation levels were tolerable but they shouldn’t linger too long in one place right now.

Jonathan nodded at Atozi from where he was sitting in front of the comm array, keeping an ear out for any further transmissions. He had already figured it was something for them to be wary of as soon as they had seen the missiles fly from orbit.

Jonathan’s scans of the comm array mostly caught blurbs of ESM forces those known as EngSciMed of the northern group they were currently in being invaded by the southern MacArm forces. But it was so bound by static as to make much of it useless, the only half decent radio signal coming in was from the mysterious Lt Marshall.

Naomi backed off the moment the patient stirred and became responsive. She was a little disappointed to have her conservation cut short, but there was nothing to change that. Hopefully, there wasn’t anything too drastic about their biology that would reveal anything critical. She would rather not have the mission take a nose dive into the gutter.

As Baumman stepped closer and talked with the man, she retreated into the background. Not an easy feat considering most of their daylight had vanished with the coming night. It hid the fact she nearly stumbled on her feet and face-first into the ground. At this point, she wished they had the foresight to make a fire to illuminate their position.

Kenny slid away from the man as he began talking, leaving the much more competent Baumman to have whatever conversation he wanted to have. Spotting Naomi stumble slightly, he went over to stand next to her. He leaned up against a tree, smiling softly. “How you holding up?”

Fleet, Helm

Naomi had lifted her ankle and felt around the bone. It appeared fine as she noticed Kenny slip up beside her. Through the darkness, she flashed him an appreciative smile at his attentive nature. She slowly lowered her foot for a more stable stance before she turned to face the direction his voice came from. While the others addressed the pilot, the disguised science officer decided to air her worries and concerns to him. She spoke in a quiet voice so their guest didn’t overhear their conversation.

“I wished we had the foresight to make a fire or a light source. I don’t think anyone is a fan of stumbling around in the darkness. Physically, I’m pretty good and thankful I didn’t wreck my ankle. As for how I’m holding up inside…”

She paused to string the proper words together before she continued. “Something’s not adding up here. The base looks abandoned, but the energy amount underneath was pretty large. I’m trying to rack my brain over any natural occurrences and I’m coming up empty. Maybe I’m just being overly worried over nothing.”

The woman shrugged as she inhaled, letting the motion smooth over her nerves.

Baumann moved near McKnight and said very softly “Pull up everything you can on the name Greyhound. Use my tricorder, it should have more information than most.” and he turned and went back to the pilot.

Jonathan nodded. “See if he might know about this Lt Mallory who sent out the message we heard. I think I have an idea of who was on which side, but it would be good to get some confirmation,” answered back, keeping his voice low.

As Baumann moved back towards the pilot, he picked up the Commanders scanner, and started a search for anything on the name Greyhound.

Greyhound came up with three major hits. The first was the Terran dog breed. The second was a transit service on Earth and her colonies still in operation in low key areas as a hover-bus. The third was the still being built SS Greyhound of their own Bonaventure class frigate. The ship though was only half completed at this time and not spaceworthy.

“Sir, I do not wish to cause you any kind of stress, but do you know what that facility is there?” and he nodded at the base. “We haven’t seen anyone coming and going, so we are thinking it is abandoned… and we were hoping it would be a place to take shelter for a few days. Do you think that would be allowed?”

Baumann, Intel

Cmdr. McKnight - XO

The pilot named Ry’an Peters regarded the direction indicated. “..It’s an old research silo last I knew, no military or science purposes though now. Went dark and abandoned about a year back. Due to budget cutbacks.” He said.

GM CockRoach

Atozi Continued to watch the pilot for any signs of discomfort or pain, she didn’t want him to be continually questioned when he wasn’t in the right physical condition to be so, the idea of moving to a more secure location however. “We could do with moving somewhere we can gather ourselves.” She checked for radiation again.

  • Ens Atozi Sh’qyrin

Baumann nodded at Peters and said “Very well. If that is the case, we will attempt to get inside into somewhere safe and more secure.” He looked back at McKnight and said “Get everyone together and gather all of our supplies. I’ll try to find us a way in.” and he moved over, nodding to the doctor that she could watch the injured man more closely now. Retrieving his tricorder and his black bag, Baumann nodded and began to make his way towards the fence line, keeping a wary eye around him.

When he reached the fence, he scanned the perimeter with his tricorder to ensure that it wasn’t electrified or otherwise trapped; making sure ot block the device form the view of the woods where the pilot lay.

Baumann, Intel

Scans of the fence showed it was unpowered, though the razor tip tops were still quite sharp and jagged looking though showed a bit of age of a few months or more without care.

GM CockRoach

Baumann reached into the black bag and pulled out a small bolt-cutter and got to work on the fence. He cut a single strand of the chain link and twisted it up, freeing the bottom and enabling him to pull open a section like a tent flap. He then motioned for everyone to hurry across and make their way through.

Baumann, Intel

Atozi lingered at the back, she was making sure she kept an eye on the pilot making sure there were no medical complications. Though as she bent down and went through the fence line her hood was caught and ripped, as it pulled down her blue face, antennae and white hair was one show for anyone who was looking to see even in the dark it was clear she was a little different.
