“So the best defense is a good offense, is that how they think?” El knelt down to brush off the dust from the labeling from a small crate. It looked to be a kind of diagnostic unit for sickbay. While it said hand held and a quantity of one it felt like it was too heavy to be simply held. Perhaps it had a wand with it that was the hand portion. “Have you ever met a Klingon?” El asked. “I’ve seen a Vulcan on Earth and I hear there is an Andorian doctor on board, but I’ve not seen her yet.”
- El, Eng“You can tick that off your list” Atozi said as she entered the room her blue antennae flicking around above her head as they gave her a censary reading of the room, though basic and rudimentary she relied on her eyes and ears. Infront of her were two other officers bot wearing starfleet uniforms like herself, something that Atozi was stil getting used to.
- Ens Sh’qyrin
El stared. The contrasts in Atozi was hard for her to take in. Blue skin. Feather white hair. Tall. And the antennae. Were her eyes faceted El would have thought that Andorians were nearly insect like. She gawked for a moment then recovered, if poorly. “Hi,” she said. “Are all Andorians so tall?” For El, Atozi was tall. She wondered why they had antennae if they had eyes and ears and the like as well. It was perhaps not the best introduction but El wasn’t exactly a diplomat. “I’m El,” she said after a pause. “This is Roger. He’s good with languages.”
- el, EngOoc: aw man, wish i wasn’t off in the corner with naomi. Lol
- MiriamOOC: You can have them walking back or leave her there? I kept forgetting this thread and didn’t know where to take their conversation. My apologies.
-Janice B.“It’s all right. I’m just happy you’re doing better. You had me scared and I didn’t know what to do if you didn’t…” Naomi sighed, her breath inhaled to calm her concerns.
“If you want to, you could head back to the others. I can get the rest of this stuff and catch to you.” She suggested.
Despite wanting to spend time with him, she knew he likely wanted to get things and over with. Besides if they stick around in the corner too long, others were going to assume the worst. She snickered at the last comment that hinted to taking their time.

Atozi looked between El and Roger and smiled, she wasn’t as rough around the edges as her brethren from having worked with Humans and other species for some time. “Hello El I am Atozi Sh’Qyrin.” He turned to Roger and then in Imperial Andorian greeted roger. “Sial’alachua” Her antennae continued to pick up on the environmental pressures and indicate that there were more people in the room.
- Ens. Atozi Sh’qyrin.
El was at a loss. Not that the doctor greeted Roger in what was likely the Andorian dialect, but that of her name. Did she call her by her rank to be formal? As she turned to Roger El mouthed her name and found it in no small fashion a tongue twister. What did one call an Andorian in ‘short’? Atozi? Rin? Hey you? Doc? Perhaps that would come out in the conversation with Roger as he was more in the wise with other cultures. El just knew humans and what she knew of Vulcans gave her the sense that the went around with a rod rammed up their .. Sial’alachua .. was that a greeting or a sneeze?
El, EngThe silence, and what Atozi could notice as perhaps an easy feel to her presence she smiled and then added “My friends call me Rin, I found Humans have a tenancy to make things easier and I think it has a nice ring to it.” The andorisn looked around “So what’s the deal here then?” she had picked up on some human slang and vocabulary rather well during her time on Earth, she was fascinated by them.
- Ens Atozi Sh’qyrin
El breathed a quick sigh of relief. Rin she could handle. It wasn’t like her own name was ‘easy’. “Mine is short for Elemirre.” She made sure to enunciate it in the accented manner that her mother used - typically when she was either in trouble or when she was pleased with her. In between she was El; her father almost exclusively called her El unless she was being introduced to others. That was few and far between given her growing up on a small island with just her parents and a couple of staff.
“Sorry Rin, I’m not good with Andorian language yet, but we are taking these boxes and sorting them.” He said putting a box down with help from El on the forklift.
Lt. Sanks, LinguistShe shrugged, “Perhaps once we settle in and we’re not sorting boxes I can teach you some words and phrases?” The offer was genuine, whilst most Andorians had what the Humans called a chip on thier shoulder she always tried to engage with them and thier culture whilst teaching people about hers. Rin found that people respected her more than when she was first trying to find her place and reverted to her hard offish Andorian Personalty.

“Yeah, new shipment of stores are in. Once these are separated they go to their respective department storage areas.” Which meant that her machine shop would be a lot more cluttered very soon. Their ship was impressive and large with four decks but there was yet a premium on space.
- El, EngThe Andorian looked at the shipment and nodded” Any medical supplies I could take out of your hands? ” Rin wasn’t one to shy away from manual labour or work in general, Andorian were very career driven and proud of what they did. The only difference in her case was that Andorian weren’t exactly thrilled about her career choices. That being said she believes in the treaty and what it could stand for in the fat future.
- Ens. Atozi Sh’qyrin
OOC: fat future .. I resemble that comment <G> Er, cough
IC:“Ummm,” El said as she looked around the bay. It still looked like a garage that had had way too much time to collect oddities. By now things were better sorted but not perfect. As she looked from pile to pile she absently wiped her hands at the spotted bandana at her waist. “I think that pile has some things destined for it. Not all, though. I think some of the bins are for storage or to replace something. Or upgrade it I guess.” The pile she was pointing to had something quite in common with a random pile of driftwood; indeed most of them did.
- El, Eng“I would like that.” Lt. Sanks responded to Rin as he and El was continuing to move boxes.
Lt. Sanks, Linguist
A couple more hours and all the cargo was sorted, and either on its way to where it would be used, or on its way to storage. Prescott looked around as the last of the stuff disappeared and they were getting finished.
“I think we’re about done, folks. I will let the Captain know and take responsibility for letting you all go. Enjoy the rest of the shift but make sure you aren’t all late for your next duty shifts.” She smiled and laughed as some of the NEs took off without having to be told twice.
