It was difficult to pay any attention to the people around you, when your mind was preoccupied by the visual euphoria granted by space. Majesties forged by the hellish temperatures of the universe’s scalding cauldron dare snag the attention of any way-going vagabond and thereby reflecting the colourful plumes of gas and visible light off of the subtle glaze of the encaptured’s eye.

It was a sight often trivialized by the century, a growing deppreciation for the Galaxy’s beauty replacing the wanderlust once filling the minds of every creature who ever thought of space. To them, it had become normal and therefore had begun to lose the enigma that once drew men to the stars, searching for the answers they couldn’t receive on their homeworlds.

It fascinated her, not the depreciation of the universe around them, but the way the mind led itself to such a state. Zenobia was not the kind of woman to romanticise the stars, nor did she find their beauty any less captivating than the next. Although, she did appreciate them, if not only for the reason she had been granted the right to see them, when many sharing her blood could only imagine what wonders they might hold. In a way, she was lucky. One difference in her genetic structure, perhaps a different allele chosen, and she may have been just as blind as any other Aenar. In her mind, that was not to be taken lightly.

Although, her attention to the stars and the philosophy behind them was drawn to a close, stolen by the pilot of the Shuttlecraft. She could not hear what he was saying, albeit his words were as clear as day. “We’re coming upon the Memorial, Lieutenant.” He informed, his voice distinctly human. “You might want to gather your things.”

“Of course. Thank you, pilot.” Zenobia tore her gaze from the adjacent window, nodding to the middle-aged pilot. A small smile came to dress her minty features, offering a sense of warmth otherwise dispresent about her icy appearance. She was glad to see the discomfort had faded from his gaze, it having previously undermined his words. Although she could not blame him, with her lack of a true voice beyond what the transmitter spoke, it still comforted her to know he wasn’t as freaked out by it any longer.

Minutes passed as the small shuttle pulled into the shuttlebay, planting itself down in a free area. Rising to her feet, once given the okay, she waved to the pilot, thanking him for the trip. Her mind, while distracted by thoughts of what needed to be done, maintained an almost frivolous excitement. Adjusting the hem of her uniform, the young lieutenant stepped from the craft, heading for the bay doors.

Having previously been assigned to a Starbase, Zenobia was.. anxious, to say the least, to return to work on a ship. She wasn’t sure what it was, but life seemed to move slower when your workplace was stationary. Smiling at the thought, she slipped into the halls, glancing down at her PaDD for any indication of where her quarters were.

OOC: Great first post! My character is a Betazoid without telepathy and hates other telepaths so … should be interesting. He just arrived on the ship and was relieved there was no counsellor. Guess that’ll change!

Kudos!

Alex

OOC: Ooh! I’m excited to see their interactions! It’ll be interesting, especially since Lissan’s communication is based on telepathy.

Jade was doing her usual rounds when she noticed a new face looking down at the padd. She recognised the person as Doctor Lissan the new Counsellor. seeing that she looked a little lost Jade went over to her. “Senior officers quarters are on deck three, your’s are in section 4b. would you like me to take you to them?” Jade asked kindly and warmly.

At the precense of a new person, Lissan rose her head to catch a glimpse of who had come to join her. Warmth radiated from the woman, a feeling she hadn’t particularly expected from someone of her rank. Offering a smile, Lissan nodded. “That would be great, Commander, thank you.”

Jade shook her head slightly that was going to get some used to. Having someone talk directly into her mind. “No problem follow me” she said as she indicated towards the turbo lift. As Jade walked the NEs parted ways, Jade smiled at them and tanked each one in turn her British accent shinning through. Once they reached the lift jade gave it it’s order and the lift zoomed off “I hope you are looking forward to serving with us. As the counselor we would like you to attend all the senior officer briefings and i may come to you every now and then. I’ve learnt that one of the best things at a commander disposal is the ships counselor. you can gauge the ship far better then i can, and I’ve found Counselors seem to have a far broader insight into a situation.

OOC: Just to clarify, she actually speaks through a transmitter which turns her thoughts into words, which is why I use the italics. Sorry about the confusion! :D

IC: “A crew is at the disposal of its commanding officers. It seems only fit you would utilise us once in awhile.” Lissan spoke with a light grin dancing across her mint lips. Her antennae, perched high upon her forehead, seemed to move in a relaxed state, insinuating her calm. “I see no reason not to attend those meetings; of course, Commander.” She understood the importance of being present at such briefings, even if she wasn’t an actual DH like the rest of the senior staff. “If you don’t mind me asking: how do you view this ship and her crew?”
