“I excelled at close quarters combat and tactical response”

Chris said quite happily, he was a muscular man and tall, but not so much muscle that it slowed him down, he liked to keep himself in shape

“Good, good,” Rado responded, “If you don’t, uh, mind, tell me about, uh, your life pre-Starfleet.” Rado asked.

Chris thought for a moment before responding. He had a past like anyone else, but there was never much he felt the need to say about it.

“So, I lost both of my parents at Wolf 359,” he said calmly. “They were Starfleet officers—about eight months after I was born. Knowing that is what inspired me to join.”

After that, my mother’s sister raised me. She and her husband ran a farm in England, and when I was able, I helped out.”

He paused briefly before finishing.

“I stayed until they were able to bring in more help. That’s when I was free to leave… and join Starfleet.”

Rado looked sympathetically at human, for he too had lost his family at young age. “I understand how you feel. When I was 16, my parents and maybe my sister were, uh, killed by the Cardassians back when they still had domain over the planet,” Rado recalled, his mind going back to the day they died, “The best we can do is honor their memories.”

Realizing that it was odd to disclose such information to a new ensign, Rado said, “That should be all. You’ll be on the Beta shift, so that’ll give you some time to get settled.”
