The computer chimed, and one of the holoprojectors hummed, displaying an identical, but reflected, version of the cube next to the original.

GM

“Computer,” Sabik asked, “Can you identify the symbols displayed on the holographic projection?” An idea was starting to formulate in the Vulcan’s mind that we might be in a mirror universe and if this was the case the old Earth phrase Toto, I’ve got a feeling we aren’t in Kansas anymore wouldn’t be far from reality. Sabik tapped his PaDD while he waited for the results of the current scan.

Sabik, Scientist

“Negative,” replied the computer, somewhat unhelpfully. A close examination would reveal that most of the etchings of the cube had a form of symmetry, making them look identical between the two cubes. There were, however, a small amount of the etchings that didn’t correspond. Perhaps overlaying the two cubes would yield some results.

GM

Sabik looked at the readings the computer had just said and started working on the next logical set of scans. With his mind made up, Sabik said to the computer, ” Overlay the holographic representation of the inverse cube with a holographic representation of the cube.”

Sabik looked over at Lucas and said, “When you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”

Sabik, Scientist

“Lieutenant. I agree but since I’ve been dragged to the last couple of meetings it’s been something. But at the same time you’re correct.” Lucas had said.

Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel
Chief Science Officer
USS Memorial

“Aye Sir,” Sabik replied and puzzled over what the outcome of the scan would reveal.

Sabik, Scientist

“I’m sorry Lieutenant what I meant by what I said is ‘what you said. When you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.’ That’s what I meant when I said that you’re correct.” He made it clear.

The overlayed images resulted in key parts of the inscription to line up, resulting in a grid of small dots, with unevenly spaced gaps in-between. The number of dots and gaps in each row totalled 64.

GM

Hall stood there looking at the whole thing. From what he is looking at of dots and gaps he looked over to the lieutenant. “Lieutenant what do you think these dots and gaps tell us?” He said to Sabik

Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel
Chief Science Officer
USS Memorial

“Sir,” Sabik replied, “There are many different conclusions to what these dots and gaps could represent from an old Earth transmission type known as Morse Code to a complex series of quantum numbers that we do not understand.” After a moment, Sabik said, “Computer, analysis of the new image we are seeing” and waited for the analysis.

Sabik, Scientist

=^= Based on the distribution of markings on the device, it appears to be data encoded in a format that can be represented in binary. =^= replied the computer. =^= Assuming 1024 permutations of an unknown language, it will take approximately 30 seconds to decode and run through the ship’s translation algorithms. =^=

GM

“Computer. Go ahead and decide and run the unknown language.” Hall said. Hoping to see what they get out of it.

Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel
Chief Science Officer
USS Memorial

=^= Processing… =^= came the computer’s reply, as it effectively put both Lucas and Sabik on hold.

Suddenly a console flashed to life, as text streamed across it:

In balance, the path is clear,
Through harmony, the way appears.
Resonance binds the key to fate,
A single thread—adjust, equate.

Each world sings in its own tone,
A frequency that guides it home.
Set the course, align the light,
Or drift as echoes lost in night.

Mismatch brings a shattered sky,
Scattered souls may pass but die.
Tether firm to where you stand,
Or fade like whispers lost in sand.

At the bottom of the page was a mathematical equation that seemed to express a relationship between a given quantum signature with a frequency.

GM

“Computer. What is this mathematical equation that expresses the relationship of the given quantum signature with the frequency?” Lucas asked the computer.

Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel
Chief Science Officer
USS Memorial

=^= The equation determines a resonance frequency using the provided quantum constant. It is likely that the quantum constant relates to the quantum signature of a given universe. However, due to the waveform properties of the function, improper tuning risks quantum decoherence. If the generated frequency does not align precisely with the a universe’s quantum signature, the function may collapse. =^=

GM

“Hmmm.” He said thinking about what the computer had said. “Computer. In this case could it be possible that the cube we are looking at could be in some way come from this quantum signature from a completely different universe?” He asked the computer as he is gathering information and having it all input to a PaD he has.

Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel
Chief Science Officer
USS Memorial

=^= The cube has the same quantum signature as the material in the local surrounds, but a different quantum signature to that of the Memorial and crew. =^=

GM

“Computer. You said that the quantum signature to that of the Memorial and crew is different. How different is it?” He asked.

Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel
Chief Science Officer
USS Memorial

=^= The ship and crew originate from a different quantum universe to the one they currently occupy. =^=

GM

Sabik saw that the CSO was getting a little impatient and looked at him stating, “Sir, I believe knowing that we are not in the same place that we should be, you should be on the bridge in order to brief the Captain when we find out anything.” Sabik could tell that his team were a little hesitant with their had boss in the room. After a moment, Sabik said, “Sir, I will message you with any new information as soon as we have it.”

Sabik, Scientist

“Is it because you find me impatient?” He asked Lieutenant Sabik. “Here’s the thing, I know you want me to be on the bridge but the fact that I’ve gotten this much information, I’m sure we can get more out of this. However, I will be on the bridge would be something wise. But at the same time I can just request the captain to come here instead. I understand that being on the bridge has my post but at the same time, my job right now is right here at this present moment. I’m not gonna keep going back and forth between here and the bridge every time something comes up.” Commander Angel had said to Lieutenant Sabik.

Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel
Chief Science Officer
USS Memorial

Sabik’s had to analyze what the next move should be with the cube. He knew it did not originate from their known universe and from the other information he had been given the ship and crew were no longer in their original universe either. With that, Sabik tapped on his comm badge and said =/\=Sabik to Engineering, we require an engineer to adjust the Science Labs scanners and tricorders to match the quantum signature of the cube we are investigating.=/\=

Sabik, Scientist

“Lieutenant. Good call. I do hope this works all as well.” Lieutenant Commander Hall Angel said to Lieutenant Sabik.

OOC: Tag and bump!

GM

She steps inside the science lab her mind going several miles a minute with thoughts of what it could be. Thoughts and possibilities flood her mind her mind as she looks around for the chief science officer.

Ravenfall, XO

Hall Angel looks up and says. “Commander how can we help you today?” He said to her.

Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel
Chief Science Officer
USS Memorial

“I was wondering if anyone has tried to touch the cube yet?” She asks as she takes in the site of the cube.

Ravenfall, XO

“Negative.” He said point to the current data that they have already gathered.

Wes arrived at Science Lab 1 after the call for an engineer was made. As he walked though the door, he looked around and asked, “Did someone call for a repair job?” Wes liked to keep things light humored and hoped the group in the room would be the same.

West “Wes” Averson, Engineer

“Yes Ensign,” Sabik retorted, “We require you to change the quantum signature of our scanning equipment to be in tune with the cube like object we are investigating.” Sabik thought he could do the upgrade but knew and Engineering Officer would be better suited.

Sabik, Engineer

She moves around the cube taking in the writing and other features “I would like to try to touch it bare handed!” She said as she looked up at the engineering officer and the chief.

Ravenfall, XO

“Go ahead commander. Just make sure it doesn’t do anything that’ll hurt you.” He said with extreme caution.

Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel
Chief Science Officer
USS Memorial

Vicktory nods to the chief then steps forward toward the force field “drop the force field when ready and once I’m in position reestablish the field around both me and the cube.” She takes a few deep breaths steadying her nerves.

Ravenfall, XO

“Aye commander.” He said. “Computer lower the force field and then re raise it as soon as the commander is within force field parameters.” He requested the computer.

Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel
Chief Science Officer
USS Memorial

OOC: Just to recap:

  1. The quantum signature of the device is not the same as the ship and crew.
  2. But it is the same as the current universe.
  3. You’ve found a poem and a formula, that gives you an expression for finding a frequency based on a known quantum signature.

GM

OOC: Yes. But the First Officer wants to have a look at it close to it. You know as in up close to touch it.

OOC: Yes, I have read that, but she has yet to do so.

Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel
Chief Science Officer
USS Memorial

Wes looked at the officers around the cube and thanked his parents for pushing him towards Engineering. Wes started tapping the equation into the station he was working at and waited for the computer to do its thing. As Wes looked back at the officers, Wes thought, ‘Science geeks’.

Averson, Engineer

Commander Hall Angel looked at Sabik and nodded hoping that everything will work as planned.

Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel
Chief Science Officer
USS Memorial

The computer accepted the equation, and prompted Averson to provide a quantum signature. Which one would he choose? The one of the current universe, or the one from their universe? Or did he have another one?

GM

Viktoria stepped up to the the force field, as it dropped, she stepped next to the cube. She felt the force field reactivate as she studied the cube. She inhaled softly as she begin reaching toward the cube. She traced the pattern of the words inscribed on the before placing her palm directly on to it.

Wes looked at the screen for a moment and turned to the “Science Ninja Team” and said “Ma’am and Gentlemen, there is more than meets the eye here. We have our quantum signature, the quantum signature of the universe we are in and the bubble that surrounds the ship right now.” Wes thought for a moment and continued, “The equation requires a variable to complete and each universe in the multiverse has a standard key to complete it but there might be a master constant that will give us access to all universes.” Wes waited for the group to digest the fire hose worth of information so far.

Wes looked at the other piece of the picture and said, “The poem that the cube said might be the clue we need to decipher this conundrum.” After a second, Wes repeated the lines, “In balance, the path is clear,
Through harmony, the way appears.
Resonance binds the key to fate,
A single thread—adjust, equate.
Each world sings in its own tone,
A frequency that guides it home.
Set the course, align the light,
Or drift as echoes lost in night.”
Mismatch brings a shattered sky,
Scattered souls may pass but die.
Tether firm to where you stand,
Or fade like whispers lost in sand.

West, Engineer

OOC: Who can tell me where “Science Ninja Teams” and “More than meets the eyes” comes from

Ravenfall, XO

The cube was ice-cold to the touch, almost as if it were absorbing energy from the environment.

OOC: Ok, to be really clear… you have a mathematical function that converts a quantum signature value to a frequency. Each quantum signature will give you a different frequency. What could you do with that knowledge?

GM

Wes looked back at the station he was working at and said =^=Computer, take the equation that I just fed in and use the quantum signature of the cube as the variable.=^= and waited for the response.

Averson, Engineer

Bump

Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel
Chief Science Officer
USS Memorial

OOC: Give a person chance to reply before you bump posts. That post was only a day old :D

IC: The computer complied, and produced a frequency based on the quantum signature of the cube.

GM

OOC: I don’t really think that applies when I was gonna go AWOL.

Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel
Chief Science Officer
USS Memorial

OOC: It absolutely does apply. If you’re about to go AWOL, think through what you could post that shows some character interaction or development, either in the main sim or as part of a side sim.

GM

OOC: Well sorry for trying to keep myself from going AWOL when I can’t think of anything.

Lieutenant Commander Lucas “Markiplier” Hall Angel
Chief Science Officer
USS Memorial

OOC: Ok we are done with this, any further can be done on DM on Discord.

Nightroad, CO

Wes was tinkering with the equation using the quantum signature from the universe they were transported to when he accidentally hit a button sending an energy burst into the cube at that universes frequency. Looking over, Wes exclaimed, “I didn’t mean to do that!” and waited to see what his mistake had done.

Averson, Engineer

The cube emitted a high frequency hum, and glowed an electric blue, before returning to its normal state. Scans of the cube would reveal that nothing had changed compared to before the energy bust was sent to it.

OOC: So close!

GM

Sabik noticed the reaction the cube made when the Ensign accidentally sent the energy burst into it. With an analytical approach, Sabik said, “Ensign, please recreate that energy transfer but make it constant at the lowest settings.” Sabik thought for a moment and continued, “Please let me know when you are ready.”
