The engines were throbbing away at some speed as the Memorial raced toward the nebula. However, the first blow from the enemy ship had left an energy imbalance, that had started to grow.

Suddenly, one of the EPS conduits leading to the upper impulse engine rupture, causing plasma to spray into the compartment. One of the crew who had been expecting it just before was vaporised, too quickly for her to realise. Another two were caught in the blast, and were writhing around on the floor in agony.

While not directly being a part of Chief Engineer Miz’uki’s department, as an Engineer on the birds assigned to the Memorial, she was more than happy to work further afield around the ship than the hangar bay. The fighter wing were back on board, and she was satisfied that they would be checked over successfully by her team without her there to supervise and hand hold. Asking them to leave her a report, she advised she was heading to Deck 4, and headed to the turbolift. =^= Deck 4. =^= she said on entry.

As she went, she went through what she needed to do,
1) Isolate the damaged conduit, and potentially shutting down the EPS system/isolating specific sections to contain the plasma leak and any further damage to the ship or crew.
2) Assess the damage, after conduit is isolated, she’ll assess the extent of the damage, including the location of the break. This might include scanning the conduit to identify exactly where the break occurred, but preventing further damage from the plasma is the more important task for her to attend to.
3) Determine the repair method, based on what the assessment shows, she’d decide on the appropriate repair method. If it was on one her birds, it might involve patching the break, replacing a damaged section of the conduit, or even replacing the entire conduit if the damage is extensive.

Reaching the site of the rupture, the sparking plasma and the injured crewmembers, Erin tapped her combadge, opening a channel to Main Engineering. =^= Engineering, I’m here, looks nasty. I’m going to try to isolate the damaged conduit. Kennedy out. =^=

Using a nearby enginnering panel that was not part of the damaged EPS conduit Erin worked to isolate the damaged EPS conduit. She looked for any manual isolation methods such as a circuit breaker or manual valves as part of the schematics that might help, she also looked to see if the schematics showed the damaged conduits and had the ability to isolate them automatically, as well as any redundancy systems that might come in handy.

As a specialist with the systems of the fighters and other smaller crafts, this was a bit bigger than she was used to, but she was not daunted by the challenge s she was faced with. As she waited for the results of her efforts with the panel, her mind went to the injured crewmembers, and hoped that medical were on the way, she was good with machines, her brother, Liam with people. Their injuries were definitely outside of her skillset.

Erin’s efforts successfully isolated the damaged EPS conduit leading to one of the impulse engines. With it isolated, there was now chance to reenergise the power grid, and get the other impulse engines online.

Meanwhile, the three injured crew were not fairing well. Whilst one was conscious, the other two were not, with one seemingly dead.

It was a few moments later Miz’uki came rushing in with her tool kit “Alright what’s our issue!” she growled looking at the damage and trying to figure out how to jury rig the repairs so they could survive for now

The EPS feed to the impulse engine had overloaded, given the large scorching and remnants of plasma fires leading up to it. The safety systems had activated, disabling impulse engine. In theory they could be overridden, but pushing them too hard was what probably caused the EPS to overload.

A low groan could be heard from the crewman that was still, but barely, conscious.
