Tolly lets out a deep sigh as he enters the lounge and approaches the Bolian bartender. “Do you have anything other than synthol?” he inquires. With a simple nod, the bartender reaches below the counter, retrieves a bottle filled with a crimson liquid, and pours a small measure into a glass, setting it on the bar. As Tolly examines the contents of the glass, he notices a figure approaching. He looks up, curious to see who it might be. (open to anyone who wants to join)

John Tolly Chief of Operations

Lucas came to the lounge and noticed that Tolly sitting at the bar in the lounge and sat next to him. “Hello I know we haven’t met but I am Lucas Hall Angel or Markiplier is my nickname. Are you doing okay?” Angel asked the Chief of operations officer.

John glances up as Lucas enters, letting out a sigh while eyeing his drink. “Yeah, I’m fine, just endured a classic tongue-lashing from the XO,” he remarks, taking a sip and coughing as the liquid scorches his throat. “Wow, that’s potent,” he exclaims, then turns to Lucas, offering his hand. “Apologies for that, I’m John. No nickname, just John.”

“Pleasure to meet you John. Wait a minute lashing with the xo? About what if you don’t mind me asking? I know it really isn’t my business but I’m a caring person who cares about everyone on this ship.” He said.

Jeremy was still shaking after what he saw on the bridge and headed down here, hoping he could get something to knock him out for long enough that he’d forget what he had seen on the bridge.

He saw two of the officers of the ship nearby, and he wanted to give them space.

“Anything alcoholic,” he tells the replicator, a drink appears, but it definitely isn’t alcoholic, of course. He takes it and sits in a position so he can’t see outside a window. Did Jake feel like this when he reported on the Dominion War, Jeremy wondered to himself, this alone, this scared, this useless. It seemed to him that he was out of his depth here, and he wanted to leave, but … that of course wasn’t possible, So, if he couldn’t leave, what could he do to help? How could a journalist, running from a shady past, possibly do anything to assist all of these trained Starfleet officers. He saw some of their faces, they seemed to be steadfast in their resolve, did any of them feel fear, or was this part of their training. Maybe he should find out.

Downing the last of his drink, Jeremy walked over to the two officers.

“Excuse me, Sirs,” he said in a break in their conversation, “I’m hoping I could ask a couple of questions.”

He tried to keep up a professional facade, but he knew it was slipping badly, but he knew that courage did not erase his fear, but was when he faced his fear, and that thing outside the ship was fearful, how he wished he could erase it, but he knew his nightmares would be haunted.

“Please feel free to ask anything. I’m sure we can answer them for you Mr Kelly isn’t it. As officers of Starfleet we can answer anything.” Lucas sat there and looked at the bartender for another drink. The bartender had then handed Lucas another drink and was satisfied. “So Mr. Kelly what can we do for you?” He asked.

“Please call me Jeremy,” Jeremy almost begged the officer, “how do you do what you do and not get scared witless*? I was on the bridge, and saw the ship attacking and all the officers doing things to try to stop the ship being blown up, and … how do you stay calm in that? I’m a journalist, but mostly I do stories on trends, sports teams, and the like. I thought this was going to be like one of those types of stories, find out the secrets of the Captain, learn who is dating who, discover hints to living a happy life today, that sort of thing, but I see this is different to all that. I just want to run and hide. But Jake Sisko on DS9, he reported from the front lines and he was barely older than a kid. I’m 27, and I want to run and hide. I want to get out of here. My first thought was, I should ask the captain to let me go to Risa and write about the beaches there, but then I realised that might be a bit hard.”

Jeremy was getting himself worked up with his anxiety and the words tumbled out over each other**. He looked for a chair to sit in, and somehow missed it, landing on the floor.

He looked up at the officers from the floor, it seemed he was back to speaking normally, “honestly, I’m not drunk. I asked for something alcoholic to calm my nerves, but the replicator refused to do so.”

Note:
* He may not have necessarily said witless, but the word he actually said isn’t appropriate for the forum, especially with the innocent eyes of our GM, Jack. I’ll let you imagine what the word may have been shhhhhhh don’t tell Jack.
** Basically his final sentence (before he missed the chair and landed on the ground really sounded like “MyfirstthoughtwasIshouldaskthecaptaintoletmegotoRisaandwriteaboutthebeachestherebutthenIrealisedthatmightbeabithard” so I took pity on you and wrote it normally. You’re welcome!

“Well kid. Excuse me Jeremy. So as I am a bridge officer myself, I tend to go from the bridge to the science labs since I am the Chief science officer on board this vessel. However, we do it nice and calmly depending on the situation. Now, as you said the ship was attacking or being attacked. Don’t know which. But I’ll tell you something kid. When we attack someone we’re more on the calm and relax side sometimes. But when a object isn’t shooting back we are typically calm when we are shooting things. Now however, when we have an enemy vessel coming at us with weapons charged and ready to fire then you gotta know you’re in trouble as soon as your in trouble and know what to do then you’ll react and sort of react in somewhat not in a good way. However, like I said it depends on the situation.” As he was explaining himself to the young Jeremy the young kid that had fell to the floor and had gotten up. Angel was pretty happy with what he had said because he knows sometimes on the job means stress. But at the same time not everything is stressful.
