After much debate and discourse, Captain Sh’Zoarhi decided to evacuate the people below. She couldn’t ignore the possibility that just providing them with stuff may not be a long-term solution. The away team on the surface provided an ample distraction by causing as many disturbances as they could, while the team below lead the civilians to transporter range. The crew evacuated all the civilians as quickly as they could and left the King to rule his little ice-ball alone.

It wasn’t long before the USS Hope arrived, and the civilians were taken aboard for extensive treatments for malnourishment, exposure to the cold, and any number of other ailments that had gone untreated.

Who’s to say what was right and what was wrong. By modern standards they were well behind the times, it was difficult to judge if it was within the bounds of the prime directive to take them. But leaving them behind left no guarantees of their futures. The crew of the memorial could only hope they had made the better choice, and move on to the next mission.
