Ahhhh! Such optimism. She couldn’t fault him for it, and his particular brand of subtle naiveté was… well, sweet in its own way. He cared about people. She knew this of course, and he had shown it to her on many occasions, but the difference between the two of them is that she understood (all too painfully) that sometimes, despite one’s best efforts, consequences swept you away and didn’t give you a choice. She had chosen to try this Intelligence shtick again, because Blue had promised her it would be different, that she would get to have a say in how some of the situation would go down. that had proven to be more complicated. Fine. But now everything was slipping through her fingers so fast that she wasn’t sure what she would make it through with intact.
Faye gave him a small, if exceptionally tired smile. Turning her head, she pulled back her french braid and showed him the back of her head. She drew a small line in the place where the neck dipped before it connected with her skull. “I don’t remember them doing the surgery that put the implant right in that spot,” she said, dropping the braid and looking at him, her stormy grey-green eyes ever so weary. “But I sure as hell remember when the implant the Tal Shair inserted would activate. Though I didn’t know there was even an implant in there given I was drugged up a lot of the time. But I definitely remember when Doctor Ryley removed it. I was awake for that fun bit, out of necessity.” And now she was left with info in her head she didn’t want to access but that others might one day want. One day, like today. Or tomorrow.
She spread her hands out before her, feeling the agitation growing again. “Glass. Shards of glass everywhere. You told me to tell you if myself or the crew were in danger of getting cut, well here we are. I’m calm outwardly right now, but inside I want . to. scream! None of this is okay! Make decisions about my life? I did make the biggest one when I came here. And then another one when I told you about my actual orders, about being with Intelligence officially. And I’m being horribly punished for my honesty,” she said, thinking her mother was a rather unexpected but large piece of this complication. they could tell Shara to go away, but that Admiral she was working for seemed legit. But what did Faye know? Nightmares were suddenly blending with reality and she wasn’t sure what was up or down anymore.

“What kind of information is in there? And is there a way to download it? Or… maybe even better… erase it?”

Faye shook her head slightly. “I wish I knew, truly. All I know is that I get flashes of things I can’t make sense of. At first it was utterly overwhelming and I’d feel like I was drowning for a few moments. But I’ve been able to stop it from triggering altogether. I just can’t get it to trigger when I want to or slow it down. At least not ye,”she said with frustration. “The problem with being treated like a Human hard drive is that you get treated like one. Luckily for us all, I can’t access it so far.”

“‘Luckily’… why do you say that? I think it would be far luckier for you if we could get that information out and away from you.” he said. Am idea was starting to take root, but he needed more information.

Faye folded her arms on the desk and leaned forward, gazing into his eyes deeply. “And what do you think would happen when the Tal Shiar learn their lost prisoner asset, experiment, whatever you want to call me, suddenly had the ability to give up the goods to someone else? If it’s out of my head, so much the better. But then it’s out. And information wars spawn deeper conflicts. We’re talking the kind of stuff Creed was walking about his family being involved in here. It gets dangerous… fast.” Definitely more dangerous then the path they were already treading.

He looked at her and said “So if it’s out, that causes a war. If it’s in, that makes you a target. That about the sum of it?” he asked, trying to get the issue boiled down to the simplest terms he could.
