USS Manhattan

Event Horizon Station

Posted by Lieutenant Junior Grade Karla Reyes (Doctor) in Event Horizon Station
Only two decks of the station were completed and Karla and Durnit were shown to the very modest quarters that were assigned to them.

“Small,” Durnit noted, placing his bag in the locker at the foot of the bed.

“Cosy,” Karla replied, “I guess we’ll have to cuddle up together in bed.”

“Unless we are on different duty shifts here,” Durnit replied, “guess we’d better go and see the CO.”

A short time later they tried to see the officer in charge, but he was unavailable and they were instead instructed to see the officer in charge of personnel .

Both were put to work, Durnit was stocktaking the medical supplies, while Karla was checking the medical tricorders, making sure they were all working properly, and then she was moved onto the surgical suite before finally the biobeds.

Not even her grumpy protest of, “I’m a doctor, not a logistics officer …” had any positive effect.

The officer disinfecting the walls in sickbay turned to her and said, “Well Doctor, I’m the 2IC on the station. You don’t hear me complaining about having to do my bit to get sickbay and the station ready, do you? I can get you reassigned to cleaning the power couplings with a nailbrush if you aren’t careful.”

Karla stopped complaining at that point and went on with her job. Durnit looked up from his stocktake at one point after that and looked at the 2IC and said, “had I known the complaints could have been ended so easily, I would have done that years ago, thank you Sir.”

OOC I hope you don’t mind me jumping in here?

IC: The runabout Thames was fully loaded with supplies and crew when Charley squeezed aboard and found the only empty seat tucked away in the far corner right next to a large stack of crates all tied down with thick black straps. As she climbed over to the seat a young looking pilot walks up the ramp and counts the people on board then looks at his padd before checking the stock on the list to make sure he had everything. He looked at the officers and gave a smile. “Hold on to your hats and strap in tight. Its a rough ride to the Delta Quadrant.” He then quickly jumped out as the ramp started to raise. Charley made sure she held onto her long metal case that held her most valuable possession. It was one of the only things she had bought with her. An object that she had carried with her since she was young.

The trip through the wormhole was rough. The young engineer next to her had brought up his last meal into a sick bag, as did a number of others in the crapped runabout. The trip reminded Charley of her trip out of the dust fields that surrounded her home planet. She was happy when the runabout touched down on its landing pad at the Event Horizon station and she could depart but the view that meet was not what she was expecting. The station looked more like a building site then any station she had been on up to this point. She made her way over to a data unit and checked where her new ship was but was disappointed to find it hadn’t arrived back yet. She went to find someone in charge but no one was sure where she should be so she was pointed the way to sick bay where a number of other officer from her ship had been assigned. Charley was shown to store room that was just big enough for a small camp bed and a locker where she left her single bag and her metal case before being shown to the Sick bay. As she walked in she looked around to see a number of officers at work. She waited till one of them noticed her.

(Bright Green Haired) Ensign Winter, Sec.
