USS Manhattan
Event Horizon Station
“Bzzzt....”. A quiet noise started to fill the small cabin. “Bzzzt....”. The noise came again, this time a bit louder. “Bzzzt....”. The noise was now shrill, and probably could be heard down the corridor leading to the quarters.
“Computer, turn off alarm” came a slightly groggy voice from the single-person bunk that was to the side of the room. A figure pull itself up to a sitting position, and swung its legs off the side of the bed.
“The time is zero five forty-five.” replied the cool, collected voice, as the cabin lights brightened. “Your first scheduled appointment, ‘Catch shuttle’, is at 1000 hours, and lasts for 57 hours,” it tried to helpfully inform the figure.
“Yeah, tell me something I don’t know.” retorted the man’s voice, with a slight groan. Whilst he loved travelling through space on a spaceship, he was less of a fan of being cooped up on shuttles, and the cramped transit quarters on the station weren’t that much better.
“Please restate your request.” chimed the computer, once again trying to be helpful. Ignoring the attempt from the computer, Ben quickly slipped out of his pyjamas and into his sports kit. ‘Might as well make use of the gym whilst I am here’, he mused, as he grabbed hold of a PADD that was in the alcove next to the bed. Someone with a sharp eye may have noticed the schematics of the Manhattan class sickbay. Ben had made himself familiar with the layout when he had first been offered the assignment, but was already planning a redesign. Starfleet engineers never seemed to get sickbay designs right.
Throwing a small towel over his should, and with his PADD in hand, he walked out of the door, and started a slow jog down the corridor.
