Lieutenant T’Shain had then thought about what the captain had said. She then pondered for a little bit. She had then thought about the Chief Engineer. She had then decided to hit her combadge. =/\= Lieutenant Kaia. I’m the new ship’s counselor. The captain has asked me to check in with everyone. I hope I’m not intruding on anything. Please report to my office at your earliest convenience. =/\= She said with a slight pause.

Kaia replied, not with a voice comm, but with an appointment request added to the Counselor’s schedule, in a time slot T’Shain had marked as unbooked.

Arriving on time - maybe a minute early - to said appointment, the engineer presented a friendly smile and held up a hand in an imitation of the vulcan salute. Imitation only, due to her lacking the requisite number of fingers. “Greetings, Lt. T’Shain. I am Lt. Kaia, it’s good to have a Counselor on board again.”

She looked up and notice that she was a little happy to have a counselor. “Yes of course. I was told to check in with everyone to see where everyone is at mentally. From the last mission, to previous trauma or honestly anything. I’d like to get to know everyone as well.” She replied. “I am happy to be here as ships counselor.” She added.

“Well, I’m doing pretty well. I had regular appointments with the previous counselor, but we mostly chatted about less serious things,” Kaia said, jumping up onto an available chair and settling in with crossed legs. “It’s a little jarring to lose all of my friends - well, most of them. Not that I’m ungrateful for the new crew, it’s good to have the ship populated. It’s just… I’m going to miss everyone who’s gone.”

She sat there listening. “That’s normal. I am not so sure if you want to continue having the regular appointments or not, but if so, we can make sure that it can be a combination of less serious and serious things at the same time. Are you interested in doing so? However, I am curious what all you and the previous counselor talk about if you don’t mind me asking?” she asked.

“A mixture of recent events and book-club type conversations. The casual conversations helped when I actually had something serious to discuss, because there was an emotional connection that helped me. Uh, I’m not sure how much of my file you’ve read, but I’m from an empathic species, but our senses work only on each-other, not on humanoids from the wider galaxy. I’m accustomed to being able to sense the emotions of everyone around me, or at least I was. In Starfleet, some of my people have described it as being surrounded by puppets. There’s a difference between knowing and sensing, when it comes to emotions. Although. I suppose, as a Vulcan, that wouldn’t be as much of an issue. You don’t feel emotions, so the disconnect doesn’t even exist between my sensation and your experience.”

She sat there with a normal expression on her face. “No, Lieutenant. It isn’t an issue. I however, have read some of your file. I haven’t had the chance to read of the whole file. However, under my predecessor, it does show about a dozen counseling sessions. I however, want to continue that.” She stated.

“Hm, I don’t really see any reason not to,” Kaia nodded sharply.

“Very well Lieutenant. How about we schedule your next one say Monday next week at 16:00 hours?” She asked.

Kaia held out her arm perpendicularly to her body and tapped the small bracer-like device to make it project a small holo-display. She tapped through a few menus before accessing the calendar. “Uh, thought so, that time won’t work for me, I’ve got an all hands meeting with my engineering lead team at 1500 and those usually go for a couple hours. Do you have any open appointments on… Wednesday afternoon?”

She thought about it. “Yeah I do. Wednesday afternoon will work. I appreciate the asking.” She replied.

“Okay, 1300?” Kaia asked. This would be a little more short notice than she’d normally book an appointment - her appointments with the previous Counselor had been roughly every other month - but as long as T’Shain didn’t try to make this too frequent, she could adapt.

Kaia put the appointment into her system. “Lovely. Does this scheduling mean this meeting is over, or is there more to discuss today?”

She looked at her. “No Lieutenant that concludes today. Just wanted to get you all set up for the next one and get to know you and see what areas we can work on.” She replied.

“Understood. I will see you Wednesday, then. Have a good afternoon.” She smiled brightly, then hopped off the chair she was seated on and departed.
