The turbolift doors opened, and Major Tuvock stepped onto Deck 8. The corridor was quieter here, away from the movement and activity of the main operations areas of the ship.He made his way to the Counselor’s Office and pressed the chime.
After receiving permission to enter, the doors opened.
Tuvock stepped inside, his gaze briefly moving over the office before settling on the counselor.
Tuvock: “Lieutenant T’Shain.”
He offered a respectful nod.
Tuvock: “Major Tuvock. Diplomatic Attaché.”
A brief pause.
Tuvock: “Captain Colter requested that I report to you.”
He remained standing, hands clasped behind his back.
Tuvock: “I was not given any additional details regarding the purpose of this meeting.”
He glanced toward the available seating.
Tuvock: “I am ready to proceed, Lieutenant.”

USS ManhattanShe nodded. “Very well. Let’s begin. Tell me your recent past or whatever that comes by into your mind. I want to know who you are. What you’ve had. Past trauma, stuff like that.” She said nodding to him.
Lieutenant T’Shain
Chief Counselor
USS Manhattan • NCC-88000Tuvock remained still for a moment after her question, his expression unchanged. He had faced hostile negotiations, political disputes, and matters of interstellar consequence, but the request to speak about himself carried a different weight.
He moved toward the chair and sat, maintaining the same disciplined posture.
Tuvock: “My recent past.”
He considered the phrasing carefully.
Tuvock: “That is a broad subject, Lieutenant.”
A brief pause.
Tuvock: “I have spent much of my life in service. First to Vulcan, and later to the interests of the Federation through diplomatic assignments. My work has required patience, restraint, and the ability to understand those whose perspectives differ from my own.”
His gaze lowered slightly as he reflected.
Tuvock: “The transition to Starfleet service aboard the Manhattan has been… different.”
He looked back toward T’Shain.
Tuvock: “Diplomacy often allows distance. One observes conflicts, attempts to resolve them, and then moves on to the next assignment. A starship does not permit such distance. The crew becomes your community.”
A quiet moment passed.
Tuvock: “As for trauma…”
He paused longer this time.
Tuvock: “Vulcans are taught from a young age to master their emotions. That does not mean we do not experience them. It means we learn discipline.”
His expression remained controlled.
Tuvock: “I have witnessed loss. I have seen negotiations fail and worlds suffer because individuals allowed fear, pride, or anger to guide their decisions. Those experiences remain with me.”
He folded his hands in front of him.
Tuvock: “I would not classify myself as damaged by those events. However, I would be inaccurate if I stated they had no effect.”
A slight pause.
Tuvock: “The greatest challenge I have encountered has not been external conflict. It has been adapting to an environment where personal connections are expected rather than avoided.”
He looked toward the counselor.
Tuvock: “I believe that is why Captain Colter recommended this meeting.”
